I want to thank everyone who is supporting this page. I wanna thank my friends, who have been incredible in supporting my dream. Yes Martin Luther King, I have a dream too. I dream of people suffering from mental illness (including me) to be able to have affordable (and QUALITY) access to guide, people who have so much potential to BECOME LEGITIMALLY PRODUCTIVE TO SOCIETY. We need more LEADERS that are (yes scared), but also want to finally be able to talk about what it feels like to live with a mental disorder. I am currently in search for a team. A team of activists. Activists who seek to promote the needs of people who suffer from a mental disorder. That statistic, that 1 in 4 people suffer (or will suffer) from mental illness at some point in their lives. YOU KNOW WHAT THAT STATISTIC IMPLIES???????? MENTAL ILLNESS CONCERNS ALL OF US!! THAT IS WHY WE NEED TO START TALKING ABOUT IT. Yes, it is extremely complex, because every case is different. There are combined disorders. and WHAT MAKES ME EXTREMELY MAD is that people simply don't get it. They Expect you to act in a certain way and don;t even LISTEN TO YOU. I invite you to share your anxieties and silent feelings, you can do it anonymously. Wha is important is the MESSAGE. I'm gonna share what I experienced tonight in my next post. I really hope I catch someone's attention with this post. I hope I get a message of someone who WANTS TO JOIN THIS VENTURE or simply share your story. I really want to create different forums: (1) sharing stories (2) discussion for creating action for change. WE HAVE HE POWER TO END STIGMA IF WE UNITE and COMMIT UNTIL THE END FOR THIS CAUSE!!!! I want to finally feel FREE and PRODUCTIVE in this short and confusing life. DO YOU? What is your DREAM? Let’s become activists for this CAUSE, it deserves to be discussed. We deserve to share our pain....
a little piece of me.
After a long battle with depression, generalized anxiety (and much more)  (among other diagnosed conditions that still need a professional opinion from a trusted psychiatrist.) As a melange between the emotional pain of losing my mother to ALS, discovering the truth about my father’s bipolar disorder type I (and possible OCD), his habit of self-medicating, and finally, his suicide. I found my father hanging from a tree in our garden. Until today, I seek to try to understand his suffering, so I can finally forgive him. There are moments, where I empathize with his desperation to “stop that paralyzing pain.” I sought for help from a few psychiatrists in Quito.  I never imagined how much their unprofessional practice would contribute to one of the most challenging episodes of my life. The only way out of that  was death or walking up. I chose to teach myself how to fly. Up, right where my dreams shine.
Wings of Resilience
1. The scientific vs. the social approach. 2. Petition to ancrisis. 3. How do you relate those specific pictures' editing to to mental illness? 4. I would really appreciate some feedback, specially from people who suffer from this never ending agony of chaos and hopefulness. I thank you all for your feedback ( in advance).

Let’s unite our voices against Mental Health Stigma.Â
Lately we’ve all seen more than our fair share of wistful and delusional “what I wish I knew” posts and college tips from people who haven’t seen the inside of a classroom for ten years. I feel like there’s been one on every major media source at least every day for the last week, and they’re all completely out of touch with being a student today.
Make friends! Do your homework! Don’t take morning classes! Don’t drink! Become a shut-in! Don’t take out student loans! Do a bunch of unpaid internships!
Studyblrs are better than the middle-aged HuffPost writers at sharing useful college success tips, but there’s still a huge emphasis on sacrificing fun and health for studying.
You don’t have to rewrite your notes three times and sacrifice naps to do well in college! Your employer isn’t going to care if you got a B or an A on that paper. What will you remember more in a year: how many As you got or how many panic attacks you had?
As studyblrs, we need to remember to self-care and have more realistic expectations of our futures. Our generation has the highest unemployment rate ever. Even if you’re expecting to become a doctor or lawyer the second you graduate and need a stellar GPA, it’s okay to relax a little in college.
Here are some real tips from someone who’s ten years away from being middle aged, and going back to school with a full ride scholarship:
Never ever ever buy anything at the campus bookstore.
Keep your backpack light.
Work ahead early.
Have an accountability system.
Don’t pretend to be a morning person.
All-nighters are not worth it.
Don’t sacrifice your life for a grade.
Stay healthy.
It’s okay to take a break or drop out.
Learn how to ask for help.
Connect with people.
Experiment.
Why do I mention these things and not others? Check out the full post at Orphan Survival Guide!

STIGNORANCE: The Battle between Mental Health, Stigma & the Need for Advocacy

Robin Williams suicide has been one of the saddest momentums for people who suffer from a mental illness condition to raise awareness. Newspaper headlines and, especially social media posts and discussions, developed from mourning a beloved comedian to a deeper discussion about suicide, mental illness and stigma. On that day, I believe many of us can recall the considerable number of virtual friends who posted about a human being who dedicated his entire life to make people laugh, even when he was crying a river inside.
The comedians’ cause of death revitalized debate and controversy on suicides’ most paradigmatic labels: SELFISH, WEAK, COWARD. The sad truth is that most people who haven’t suffered from a mental health-related condition, a depressive and/or anxiety episode satanic suicide simply because they are completely unaware of the causes of suicide.
That unawareness is one of the many manifestations of mental health related stigma, but what does stigma actually mean? Stigma can be categorized in many different categories, but in essence it is understood as a negative perception of a particular group of people. That paradigmatic perception, that I would like to call “stignorance”, is powerful enough to cause direct or indirect harm to those individuals or groups. Some common targets are ethnic minorities, social or cultural minorities, and many others.
People who suffer from Mental Health conditions one particularly sensitive target of stigma. Mental Health-related stigma possesses a significant impact on the development of over a billion young individuals in the pursuit of social and economic integration, including employability. Stigma produces shame and fear of rejection, I personally have experienced the lonely battle of hiding my bipolar disorder to “survive” in Ecuador, a developing country where mental health discrimination is present everywhere.
This is why I believe that raising awareness about Stigma and Mental Health, and the first step has to come from us, by sharing our stories and work on solutions and generate a UNION for global dialogue concerning the necessary strategies for addressing the challenges faced by the overarching pursuit of increasing social integration, career opportunities and the right to receive affordable professional treatment. If we don’t raise our voices, no one else is gonna do it for us!
“Just calm down and stop being anxious” sure thanks that helped a lot…
