Headcanon that whenever Scully is stuck in a shitty motel on a case and can’t sleep, she imagines she can hear Mulder’s breath through the wall, puffing in and out and in and out until she falls asleep. Mulder has a similar ritual for his insomnia: he tries to recall every freckle and scar on Scully until he eventually drifts off.
