He shrugged and shook his head. “I’ll get back to you when I even know the answer to that.” He rubbed his head and refused to open his eyes. “Damien will probably find out before I do.”

She narrowed her eyes, then looked down, shaking her head. “If you disappear, she’s going to think you want nothing to do with her. Damien always knows and does whatever he wants anyway, but Jade..” She shook her head again, then rested her cheek on her knee. She wasn’t planning to leave until Casey was willing to get up and stop wallowing. She would probably use her ability to assist in that, but she wasn’t sure Damien would appreciate such a move.

She shook her head. “Jade sucks at feelings. She’s not gonna know unless you tell her what you want.” She frowned a bit because thinking of an excuse for Damien was the hard part.

Casey smiled lightly and nodded. “I know she does now, but she’ll never learn if I don’t pull away. She’s capable of feelings, she just doesn’t want them.” Nodding again he continued. “Damien is keeping his distance, I know him and his motives without telepathy.”

Fluke arched an eyebrow. "You think disappearing will make Jade think you want-" she shook her head. "What exactly is it that you're looking for from them?"

Fluke shrugged and planted a peck on his lips. She wasn’t thinking about the long stretch of her being gone. She was thinking about the small gap of being on her own since the boat trip.

Damien whined and shook his head. “See, you avoid the topic but it happened. You completely ditched.”

Fluke frowned. "Adonis was going to kill you. Not to mention what he was going to do to my brothers..." Her voice cracked and squeaked at the last word, and her eye twitched. Indigo was still in her room playing with that train. "What would you have done?"

Damien knows, as he does everything. Jade doesn’t care so..
