A Fraction of the Earth is back! Now new and improved, and fully merged, we are also the presenters of The Hetalia History Panel, which, if you live in Northern Alabama and frequent Hamacon, Kamicon, Fal-con, Rocket City Nerd Con, or Hamacon Minicon, you might have seen us at! We are now back and ready to roll!
So what exactly is new and improved about us? Well, read on!
This is a cosplay account for a group of Hetalia cosplayers from the Northern Alabama region who regularly put on the Hetalia History Panel at anime conventions. We have many members currently, have had many in the past, and hope to have more in the future! But if you want to learn a bit more about us, here’s a brief history!
Back in 2013 a few friends got the idea to gather a group of Hetalians together to form a group for panels at cons. Not an unusual idea, and so they set about to start it! Around the same time a different group of friends had discovered that they liked doing cosplay photoshoots and created a tumblr to go along with it. That same year these two groups of friends met, became friends, and carried on their merry ways. The Panel Group and the Tumblr Group often crossed over, as the people on the tumblr joined the cosplay group, and then people in the cosplay group ended up in photos on the tumblr.
Between 2013 and 2018 (now) both groups went through many changes. The Panel Group added and subtracted members, had (friendly) shifts in leadership because life, and started becoming known as the local Hetalia group. The Tumblr Group went through periods of inactivity and revival, from three mods to one, and changes to plans that had been made.
And then, at Fal-con 2017, at one of the panels the question was asked. “Do you guys have social media?” and then clarified “For your group.”
It was as if a lightbulb went off and we said “No…But that’s a great idea!”
The next thirty minutes after the panel were spent kicking around what we could do and how we could do it. And then one of the Tumblr Group spoke up and remembered this tumblr, and how nothing was being done with it.
Not long after that, the basic idea was born, and after a few weeks, things were up and running on social media. First, Instagram. Then, Facebook. And then, finally, the Tumblr was adapted.
So now you know the history of this blog (and that you can find us on social media–please do!) and the group, and how it’s all come together to form this! We have plans to do things here that we hope you will enjoy, and many plans to attend more cons in the future! Please check out our other pages for more information!
