James Baldwin once said in an interview that to turn his back on America meant risking death. He was adamant that leaving America to live on the streets of Paris with twenty dollars in his pocket could spell his demise, but that nothing could happen to him there in Paris that was possibly worse than what he could expect to happen in New York. I suspect many writers have the very experience of working bent double in some high-rise abroad as a welcome contrast to being one of the last survivors of the literary arts in their hometown. Anything so long as that dream in pursuit of healing through art does not become confused with the attainment of success by some perverted standard. Well, with a few dollars crammed down in my pockets, no identification and more to lose than accounted for, I have come a further way than I was told I could.

Now reaching 10,000+ readers worldwide the first of what I hope will be many poetry anthologies has just been re-issued.
