Transfer Case by Vehicle Make
Transfer Case is a component of the transmission with four wheels. This is the part responsible for the division of the power generated by it between the front and rear axles. Transfer cases also have the ability to lock the driveshafts of the front and rear to permit both rear and front wheels to supply the same volume of force to the rear wheel and the front one. With the latest versions of the transfer case, the output of the rear is aligned with the transmission output that is adjusted to supply the front axle. The offset is done through belts or a series of gears.
There are two kinds of cases for transfer: full-time and part-time. Part-time cases are able to be transferred between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drives. This allows the driver the freedom to select the drive type best suited to their specific road conditions. Part-time transfer cases also come with an additional set of gears, called low-range gears, that give an extra amount of torque at a slow speed. This low range can be utilized to negotiate difficult terrain and steep hills. Full-time transfer cases run continuously when in four-wheel-drive mode.
When the case for aftermarket transfer cases has been damaged, you'll hear an incessant buzzing or squealing sound from the underside of your vehicle while it's running. The transfer case that is damaged should be replaced in order to prevent future damage to your vehicle's gearbox and the axles. In Buy Auto Parts we stock various transfer cases to fit every model and make.
