"I got something for you. You know, ah, for Christmas? Like a gift?" Aaron stumbles over his words. He never does, if anything, uncomfortable situations make him lash out or shut down completely. This is as mortifying as it gets, apparently. "Oh! Thank you. You really didn't have to, you know?" Kevin scratches his head awkwardly. This is probably the most awkward Aaron has ever seen him. "Yeah, I know, I know, but… Christmas spirit and all that. Hah." Aaron shoves the box into Kevin's hands, hoping his ears aren't cherry red yet. Kevin opens the box. The downright silly grin on his face when he realizes what is inside makes Aaron want to throw himself into traffic. There is no way he will be able to make anyone feel like that ever again, so what's the point? He want to take a photo, bottle the moment up. "Oh my god. How did you even… It looks so stupid." Or, Aaron has a crush on his neighbor. He's hoping for a Christmas miracle.

Sign-ups and Assignments
Q: When do sign-ups open and close? A: Sign-ups open on Monday 17th November at 12pm GMT and will close on Sunday 23rd November at 11pm GMT. After sign-ups close, you’ll receive your gift assignment by 1st December.
Q: Is there a maximum sign-up count? A: No, as this is the first year for this event and a Christmas gift to the AFTG Fandom, we want to make sure that as many writers have access to it as possible.
Q: How will I receive my assignment? A: Assignments will be sent via Discord DM from Renée or Sör on 1st December.
Participation and Communication
Q: Will there be a Discord server? A: Yes, we will send out the link to the server when the assignments come out on 1st December.
Q: What if I don't have a Discord? A: Unfortunately, Discord is mandatory to take part in this event.
Q: How do I contact the mods? A: You can DM Renée or Sör on Twitter or Discord, or use the ASK form linked on our main event page.
Gift Creation Rules
Q: What kind of gifts are accepted? A: Written fics are accepted — as long as they follow the theme and meet the minimum content requirements. As it is the first year and there’s not long to go until the big day, we won’t be accepting art entries this year.
Q: What is the minimum word count? A: 1k minimum word count.
Q: Can I post a multi-chapter fic? A: Yes, absolutely. All multi-chapter fics need to be uploaded in one go into the Ao3 Collection, which will be revealed on Christmas Day.
Q: Is there a general theme for this event? A: Yes, all fics need to be related to Christmas, as this is a Christmas event.
Q: Can I collaborate with another creator? A: No, all gifts must be created individually to ensure everyone receives a personal gift.
Q: Are there any limits to what is allowed to be written? A: Yes. We kindly ask that you don't write any paedophilia or incest. If we do find out that you have broken either of these, then we will ban you from the remainder and any future AFTG Christmas Gift events.
Q: What ratings are allowed? A: All ratings (G to E) are allowed, as long as you tag them correctly on Ao3. However, explicit content should be clearly marked and follow Ao3 guidelines.
Q: Can I use AI-generated art or writing? A: No. We ask that all works be your own original creations — no AI-generated content.
Posting and Deadlines
Q: Where will work be posted? A: All work will be posted to a collection on Ao3.
