A PARTICULAR HARVEST- CHAPTER 1 (MYTH-BASED NOVELLA ON NORSIDIS' PUMPKIN EVENTS)

Traveling back to 1849, I was able to get my hands on a copy of A Particular Harvest, a novella that sold over one thousand hard copies in its first publication. This number pales in comparison with future numbers but was wholly impressive in the 19th century.

In reading this first chapter in particular we can confidently conclude that this was somehow based upon the future events of Norsidis' pumpkins. The agency has researched the origins of the author's ideas. It seems that a report from the agency found itself in grassland in the middle United Kingdom sometime in the early 19th century. From here, it seems the author or someone close to him had read the report on Norsidis. A particular harvest seems to be a dramatized version of these notes.

Chapter i

1813- Twas only sixteen months prior that the men in the gentlemen's club did serve me my challenge. A less disagreeable man might command respect without such callous action. See, I am not such a pious man. See, I am the type to take on a petty aimless wager. Much to my infinite regrets still presently.

My high position at the palace of Botanics created opportunities. In controlling the inner workings, I was able to quickly take control at the root and ground vegetable conservatories that house the pumpkins where I focused my energies. A curious soul such as those who read these well-placed words may need the justifications for my focus on pumpkins. For this, I aim for you to remember the wager. The gentlemen's club wager for growth. Which was a simple one. I needed to grow a pumpkin so large it could be ventured into. A great size to house a whole man.

At first, this challenge seemed like one of luck and time. To grow a pumpkin such a size would need its own dedicated patch. A great number of crop knowledge which I possessed in bucket loads. Finally, I needed to focus on October, the scarier time of the year when we all faced winter whatever position and class we find ourselves in.

Then, when each pumpkin died or didn't grow and the months passed me by like life in the throws of darkness, I grew myself. Not like a pumpkin growing more magnificent or larger, but more desperate. That's when I made that ultimate mistake that lead to the most unfortunate harvest of living pumpkins. Monsters, grown by these hands and to blame of only one man. I was the man who created the pumpkins that ended society.

Extract From Time Agent Report- HOW NEW HAVEN DIED- 3050

"What are you doing? He needs to be carried to the graveyard!". The dim Leader questioned.

"Well, you see, I just needed you to carry out the forest, so thanks for that". The scholar giggled staring with a glazed look. 

"It’s so difficult to get a relative to agree to carry out a dark evil from its prison, so I just tend to make it easier for me". The scholar had a wicked grin. 

"I don’t understand". The leader looked worried. 

"Oh, you’ve just released a terrible being. You're erm, all going to die".

The Myling started to transform into a giant scaled beast that resembled a half-human lizard hybrid with red glowing eyes and teeth like daggers. It ran toward the crowd and trampled them into the ground. The leader watched in horror as the ground around the Myling slowly consumed the whole city. He fell to the ground helplessly. The scholar cackled before he transformed violently into a swirling black tornado and again took his place in the clouds as the darkness above. Within a day, the city of New Haven no longer existed.

NORSIDIS' DISCOVERY! News Article Circulating on Earth 61- 146,000AD

'WHATS WITH THE RIPPED EDGES'- The Goblins who populate Earth 61 have done this since their history began.

It is thought to stem from The Need For Chaos, a natural compulsion in these future humans that means they biologically need to feel like they are being chaotic. Sometimes, this can lead to funnier times in their presence.

FIRST SHOWS RIPS AND SCRAWLED WARNINGS. WITH LANGUAGES UNKNOWN WRITTEN IN RED. THERE MAY BE BLOOD. 

THE SECOND DEFINITELY HAS BLOOD, FROM A LATER STAGE OF SOME KIND OF HAPPENING AT THE MUSEUM, POSSIBLY THE (REDACTED). IT APPEARS THE WORDS HELP US OR HELP ME OR SOME KIND OF VARIATION ARE SCRAWLED HASTILY IN BLOOD. A CALL TO HELP, PERSONS UNKNOWN. 

THE THIRD IS FROM BEFORE THE EVENTS THAT HAPPENED. SEEMINGLY ANNOTATED BY ONE OF THE CULTISH RELIGIOUS SECTS WHO HAS ANNOTATED THE FRONT WITH WATER SYMBOLS AND THE PHRASE ‘IN THE WATER, WE THRIVE’, A FAMOUS SAYING FROM THE CULT LEADER AXOTOTYL EMERY.

THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIND- 12560AD

Whilst at the University of human societies in the year 12560, this recently published work caught my eye.

I managed to take a quick and discreet picture of the page of interest. The remarkable archaeological discovery would lead to big changes in the thousand years long cold cases surrounding the Earth Princess. The really famous one was stolen from her private school in the 23rd Century. Trust me, if you were born after it happened you’d know all about it. More on that, perhaps, another day…

NORSIDIS AND HIS PUMPKINS- 146,000AD

Spending Halloween with this friendly fella.

Norsidis grew these pumpkins from seeds buried for a hundred thousand years in the seed vaults of New Winter land.

He is rather surprisingly one of the top scientists in his city, which is not a city that you and I are used to. It is more a collection of rudimentary villages interconnected by a series of white water streams which carry hundreds of boats. These boats are their main source of transport in the city. I had to venture down these streams for hours to get to Norsidises laboratory which is out in the middle of a vast forest where hay bales are the only way of finding your way around.

At night, Norsidis burnt about a dozen of these hay bale markers, and the grass emanated with a refreshing scent that was a mix of cinnamon and earl grey tea. This was a sort of ritual that must be respected, so as not to cause an issue with the likes of the cities policing gangs. Gangs that Norsidis made a point of informing me were not particularly kind to outsiders that looked like they came from outside the impossibly high city walls.
