I have gotten surgery on my face every year around Christmastime for the first eighteen years of my life. This year, at thirty-one (going on fourteen), I get to do it again! People always go wow that sucks that you have to spend Christmas like that, to which I say, it honestly feels weirder without it. Also, long surgical recovery periods are where some of my greatest fanfic manifested, as well as my blossoming love for Mariah Carey, whose music videos play in heavy rotation every holiday season. I will be going back under the knife on December 22nd and am going to spend Christmas in the hospital, which honestly is fine by me, I love taking over the family holidays and making everything about me. I will be getting a dental implant and basically screws put into my mouth to integrate over a period of several months. Once that is done, I go back in for another round of facial reconstruction, which will include a top set of teeth IF I raise the funds by then. I am honestly starting to think I’m going to just have to live without them though, at least until I become smart enough to make tens of thousands of dollars on my own, which won’t be for a long, long time. This journey is very exhausting and I am pretty close to being ready to give up and pack it all in.
