“I’ll be back in an hour,” Andy said through the car window. “I’ll see you at the coffee.”
Andy drove away and Annie walked with Lily in her arms. Her car was at the shop because some idiot had crashed against her a week before. Fortunately nothing happened to her, Jake or Lily who were in the car at the moment of the crash.
“Alright, princess.” Annie said as she placed Lily in the shopping car. “Hold the list.” She handed the paper to Lily. “First, fruits and veggies.”
Annie loved going grocery shopping. For her it was a peaceful moment when she could relax and take her mind off of all the stress she had with work and the house. She enjoy going through the aisles and see what things, besides groceries, she could buy for the house; and why not, buy clothes for her and her family.
She was coming out of the cereal aisle, when her shopping car crashed against the car of another person. Lily was startled by the sudden movement and she cried.
“I am so sorry!” Annie said to the other person, not really paying attention to them while she carried Lily in her arms. “Shhhh, You ok?” she hold Lily and turned to the person, “I’m so…” She paused when she saw the man in front of her, “Daniel?”
“Hi.” Daniel said shyly.
Annie put Lily back in the car and moved passed Daniel without saying a word.
“Annie.” He turned and followed her.
“You know you can’t be near me.”
“Yes, I know. But you crashed against me.” He said amused.
Annie stopped, “What you want?”
“Nothing. Just saying hi.” Daniel smiled softly to her, “Cute baby. Is she yours?”
“Of course she is mine.” She said defensively.
“Hey, I’m not going to hurt you and I’m not being rude. I was just curious.” He smiled to Lily, “She has your eyes. What’s her name?”
“Lily, and Andy says the same thing about her eyes.”
“So you married him.”
Annie took a deep breath, “Yes, I did.”
“Good! He is a good man.”
“Listen, I have to go.”
“Would you like to have coffee?”
“Now?”
“I mean we can finish our shopping and then go and grab a coffee.” Annie hesitate, for a moment. “I’ll understand if you say no.”
“I want a slice of cake too.”
Daniel laughed and nodded, “You haven’t change a bit.”
20 minutes later, the three of them sat down at one of the tables in the small coffee place inside the store.
“So,” Annie sipped on his coffee, “How you been?”
“Good.” Daniel bit the cookie he bought for him, “I live in New York now.”
“How is the city?”
“Hectic. The life is so fast there. But mine and Patty’s jobs are there so.”
“Patty?”
“My wife.” Annie stared at him, “The blonde girl.”
“Ah! So you married her.”
“Yes. We have two kids, two boys. One is 4 and the other is 2.”
“What are you doing in Newton?”
“Patty’s folks live here. We came to visit for the summer.”
“I’m glad you are happy.” She smiled fondly to him, “Do you work with the police?”
“Yes, I became a detective.” They stayed in silence for a moment. “I’m sorry.” He paused, “I…you have no idea how long I have waited to tell you this. I’m sorry for everything I did to you. I was not right. You have no idea how many nights I spend crying because I could remember everything I did to you that night.” He took a breath, “How I threw you against the wall.” He sipped to his coffee, “I told Patty everything and she was also mad at me for what I did to you. She even asked me to look for you to say I was sorry. But I didn’t want to disturbed you and with the restriction order I could have gotten in trouble.”
Annie hold back her tears, remembering well that day. How he tried to abuse her.
“I remember the day of the graduation I was going to say goodbye to you that day, but I saw you were so happy I couldn’t disturb that. I know, I have no right to ask you for your forgiveness. I know we shouldn’t be here together having coffee, because I could go to jail.”
“I never wanted for us to end up like that, Daniel, but it was the only way for you to stay away from me. I was scare, and didn’t know what you would do.
“I know.” Daniel rubbed his eyes, “I did love you once. I thought you were the coolest chick on campus, so vibrant!” Annie smiled.
“Maybe we were never meant to end up together.” Annie said, “Maybe we were just each other’s path to find the person of our lives.”
“That’s exactly why I dated you, you always knew what to say.”
“Dada!” Lily said pointing to Daniel.
“No, that’s not daddy.” When Annie turned her gaze she saw Andy walking towards them, “Fuck.”
“What?” Daniel turned to see Andy, “Oh god!”
Andy stood in the middle of them with his hand on his hips. “What are you doing?”
“Baby! I just ran with this old friend from collage! He is town visiting his in-laws.”
“I know who he is, he has the same idiot face!
“Hey!” Daniel said.

“Me? He shouldn’t be near you in the first place.”
“I know. Please don’t make a scene, we are in the supermarket.”
“Look man,” Daniel said, “I don’t want any trouble. We just happened to run into each other, it’s not a big deal, I asked for a coffee because I wanted to apologize to her. I needed peace! Do you have any idea how bad it feels to know you hurt the woman who once loved you?”
“I… yeah, kind of do.” Andy said remembering Laurie.
“I’ll just leave.” Daniel took his shopping bags, “It was great seeing you, Annie.” He smiled to her, “Bye, Lily!” the small child waved at Daniel with her chubby hand.
“Hey!” Annie said making Daniel turned, “We can go and have coffee again when you are in town.”
“Actually I think we can’t do that. You know because of the order” Daniel said.
“No one needs to know.”
“I’m right here!” Andy said.
“Maybe a play date with our kids.” Annie said.
“That sounds nice.” Daniel smile, “See you around. Bye Andy.”
Annie turned to see Andy who was clearly not believing this whole situation. “Is there a way to remove that restriction order?”
“You have got to be kidding me!” Andy took Lily in his arms and began to walk.

It’s been months since the attacks in New York happened. Lucy had moved out of their cabin with a woman she had met in the island. “Perfect.” Herni clapped his hands, “Ready to go?”

Mary was looking around the place. It was cozy and calm, and most importantly it was away from the creatures. Lucy cleared her throat.
“Eric seems like a nice guy.”
“Yeah,” She smiled, “I like his accent.”
“Of course you do.” Lucy said sitting across from her. “He is handsome too.”
“He said he was going to be a lawyer.”

Once Mary was left alone she stood and got into the bathroom, it had a toilet, a sink and a shower. She open the cabinet under the sink and found towels and bars of soap. She took one and smelled it, lavender. She sighed in contentment and prayed for the shower to work.
It did. Mary was quick to removed her dirty clothes and get in the shower. The water took away all the dirt and dry blood she had attached to her body. “Pretty.” He smiled to her. “I’m gonna go back and help Henri with some other stuff.” He said all proud of himself. “We found so many things in some warehouses on the other side.”
“Really?” He nodded, “Maybe I should found something to do as well.”
“I better get going.”
“Eric.” He stopped on his tracks, “Thank you for the clothes.” He looked down and nodded before headed out the door.
Later that night, all the survivors gather in the dining room. The large tables filled the cabin, families and people in general sat together to enjoy a first dinner made by some of the survivors.
“Friends.” Henri’s voice resonated inside the cabin, “Let us enjoy this meal. The first of many.”
Henri sat between his wife and kid right in front of Lucy, Mary and Eric.
“It’s there enough food for everybody?” Mary asked.
“Yes, eat.” Henri said.
“What I mean it, is there enough food on the long run?”
“We are planning to plant fruits and vegetables.” Henri looked at Mary, “We will be fine.” He smiled to her which made her feel better somehow.
After dinner, they went back to their cabin. Lucy showered and lock her room after. While Mary walked in the room and found Eric, whose hair was still wet from his shower, placing a sleeping bag on the floor.
“Where you get that?” She asked confused.
“There were many of these in one of the warehouses.” He laid down and Frodo made his way to laid right next to him. “Good night.”
Mary turned the light off, climbed on the bed and kicked off her pants, “Good night.”
It was dark when Mary opened her eyes. She heard small whimpers that were coming from Eric spot. She heard him tossed and turned and eventually he left the room. Mary sat on the bed wondering if she should go after him or left him alone, and after a couple of minutes of not moving, she left the room too.
The front door was open and Eric was sitting on the stairs of the porch of the cabin crying.
“Hey.” Mary said softly and Eric jumped, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You didn’t.” He cleaned his nose with the back of his hand.
Mary sat next to him. The moonlight was hitting on his face. His eyes were full of tears and Mary didn’t hesitate to hug him. Her arms enveloped his neck and Eric was taken aback at the sudden act. It took seconds for him to hold her tight from her waist, his nose nestled in her neck and sobbed.
“Nightmares?” She said and felt him nodded. “I have them too.”
“I miss my mom.” He whispered with a broken voice, “She didn’t want me to leave town.” He let go to face Mary who was staring at him with soft eyes. His breaths were erratic.
“Shhhh, breathe.” She took a deep breath and Eric followed her.
“She… she wanted me to be happy.”
“And what made you happy?”
“Arts…I wanted to study arts.” He sighed, “I like magic and cooking too.” She nodded, “But I had to grow up.” Eric remembered the words his dad said once he expressed his desire to go to acting school, “I had to be a good man. I had to be a lawyer so he could be proud of me.”
“I think you are a good man.” She smiled to him, “You told me you took Sam to get pizza to her favorite childhood place. You had been helping others since we got here this morning; you brought me clothes to wear,” she giggled, “That’s what good men do. And I know,” she caressed his cheek, “that no matter where your parents are, they are so proud of you.” She said as a tear rolled down her cheek.
Eric leaned in and kissed her lips, a soft, tender kiss. He moved back and saw Mary smiling to him; he smiled and kissed her again, this time longer. His tongue caressed her bottom lip and she opened her lips to let him in. His tongue danced along with hers, a hallow moan left his lips. They separated once the air was not enough between them. Mary’s forehead touched his.
“I wish I met you in other circumstances.” Eric said.
“And why is that?”
“I could’ve taken you to have dinner to a nice place.”
“I don’t need any of that.” She gave him a quick peck, “I have you and that’s enough for me.”
Eric hand caressed her knee, he looked down and saw her wound still fresh and bruised. Mary put her hand on top of it. “Don’t.” Eric took her hand away, “Don’t hide it from me.”
“It looks horrible.”
“It does.” Mary gasped and Eric giggled, “Does it hurt?”
“A bit, yeah.”
They stayed there for a while listening to the silence of the night. Mary was drifting off against his shoulder. Eric took her in his arms and headed back in. He placed Mary on the bed and kissed her forehead.
“Laid with me.” Mary said sleepily. “Please.”
Eric didn’t said anything, he moved to the other side of the bed and hugged her waist pulling her close.
That was the second night in a row both of them sleep peacefully without nightmares hunting their dreams.

Eric opened his eyes when the metal walls of the boat cracked. He looked around and remembered where he was, he took a deep breath and let his head fall against the wall. His sight was stuck at a point on the opposite wall, not really paying attention to his surroundings.
“What are you looking at?” A man who was sitting in the direction he was staring at spoke to him, “HEY!” Eric blinked and now really looked at the man, “What are you looking at?!”
“I…” Eric said a bit confused at the man’s tone.
The man stood and walked towards him, grabbed him by his collar and pushed him against the wall. Eric let go of Frodo and the cat ran away. “Stop Fucking staring at me!”
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t…”
“Do you have a problem?” Eric could smell a hint of alcohol in his breath.
“No, please. I don’t want any trouble. I wasn’t staring, I promise.”
“You listen to me, you fucking…”
“Leave him alone!” The man who helped him get on the boat spoke, “Let him go. I won’t ask you twice.”
“Oh really? And what are you going to do about it?”
“Just leave him alone, he wasn’t doing anything. He is in shock, just like most of the people in this fucking ferry. So let him go.”
The man let go of Eric, who tripped and fall in his place, the man walked pass the black man.
“And cut it with the drinking.” He said to the man as he passed by him. “Are you ok?” Eric nodded tearfully. “Here.” He gave Eric his hand and helped him stand, “I’m Henri.”
“I’m Eric.”
“Are you hungry?”
“Yeah.”
“Come with me.”
They walked another level up and headed to a group of people surrounding boxes.
“This is my wife, Zena.” The woman smiled to Eric, “He hasn’t eaten.”
Zena nodded and open one of the boxes. When she turned she handed Eric a plastic bag with piece of bread, an apple and a bottle of water.
“Thank you, ma’am.” He rapidly opened the bag and bit the bread.
“Easy there. You’re gonna chock on yourself.” Henri saw Eric drank from his water, “You’re not from around.”
“No, sir. I’m from England.”
“Well, you are certainly far from home.”
“RUN!” The voice of her mother was filled with fear and just as she stood in the middle of the living room, her mom disappeared in the middle of a cloud of dust making Mary fell in her place.
The screams of hundreds of people on the street filled her ears, the sound of car alarms going off, sirens of ambulances and police cars, everything was loud.
“Aunt Mary!” The voice of her niece caught her attention.
“NO!” her sister screamed and just as her mother, her sister and niece were dragged out of the hole that was now on the side of the building.
Mary watched in shock and covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming. She moved as fast as she could to get to her room and hid in her closet. She tried to calm her breaths, her family was gone and she had no idea what was going on.
Once the noise died down, she left her hiding spot, walked carefully to the living room and scream.
“Mary, wake up!” Lucy shook her, “Wake up!”
Mary opened her eyes and took a breath that made her lungs hurt.
“Easy, you’re ok. It was a nightmare.” Mary’s breaths were short and panicked. “Look at me, you are safe.” Tears were streaming down of Mary’s eyes.
“I…” She kept breathing, “They’re gone.”
“I know, darling.”
“I was about to be with them.” She cried and Lucy hold her.
“Shhhh.” She swayed her side to side. Lucy’s hand rubbed her back and soon after Mary began to breathe normal and Lucy helped her lay down.
Mary look at the ceiling. “What time is it?” she said above a whisper.
“Eight o’clock. You’d slept for 3 hours.”
Mary tried to sit down and hissed when she felt the sting in her right thigh. Lucy helped sit with her back against the wall of the boat. Mary lifted the blanket and saw the bandage.
“Where’re my pants?”
“We had to cut them.” Lucy lifted the material that was bunched next to them. “I’ll find something for you to wear I promise.”
“How bad is it?”
“It was just a bit deep but long. You’re lucky it didn’t cut in a major vein.”
“But the kid is alive.” She smiled tiredly looking at the black kid sitting among others survivor kids on the opposite side. “I should be dead.”
“Yeah, but you’re not. I was not going to leave you there. Your mom…”
“My mom is gone. All my family is gone and so it’s yours.”
“Your mom was my best friend and you are like a daughter to me, I was not going to leave you to die.”
Mary’s eyes soften and watered. “I’m so scared.”
“I know. I am too.”
Mary sniffed and clean her tears with the back of her hand.
“It’s getting cold.” Lucy said, “I’ll help you put your sweatshirt on.” She took the item and easily put it on Mary.
“Where do you plan to get me some pants?”
“I don’t know, I’ll figure something out. What kind of lady would I be if I let you walk around in your underwear?” She laughed a bit. “Besides you have a hole in your panties.”
“What?” Mary looked down, her black panties were dusty but not ripped. Lucy fulling laughed this time, “I’m glad you are having fun at my expenses.” She smiled lovingly to Lucy. Mary grabbed her tote bag and took out a bag of cookies. She opened it and offered it to Lucy. “Do you know where we going?”
“Some island, you know those things can’t swim, so.”
“When are we getting there?” she bit her vanilla cookie.
“I don’t know. They don’t tell me much. But I hope when the sun rise we will be somewhere safe.”
They kept eating quietly when a soft meow made them turned her heads around.
“Hey!” Mary said with a full smiled on her face. Lucy’s heart fluttered when she saw Mary smiling. “Who are you?” The cat got near and jumped on her lap. “Oh! Hello!” Mary scratched its ears and the cat purred. “Oh you like that, don’t you?” The cat rubbed its face against her chest, “How you get here?”
“That´s the cat from the last man that got here.”
“What?”
“There was a man that swam from a pier to the ferry.”
“You’re kidding.”
“No! We don’t know who help him to make noise to distract the creatures so he could get here. He almost got caught, I saw it. He was really lucky.”
“You actually believe everyone in this boat is lucky when most of us have lost our families and friends.” She said as she hug the cat.
“I like to be optimistic. It was not our time to died, not yet at least. We have the chance to start over.”
“And how are we starting over when is the end of the world?
“How is my favorite survivor?” They were interrupted by Henri. He had found them on their way to the ferry and stayed by their side.
“I don’t have pants on.”
“Lucy told me. We are trying to find something for you. I will be forever in your debt for saving Osahar.” He smiled lovingly to Lucy and then to her, “How you feeling?”
“Sore and tired.”
“Frodo!” Mary turned when she heard an unknown manly voice. The man stopped on his tracks when Lucy, Henri and Mary turned to see him. “Sorry.” Mary locked eyes with him. He had the biggest and softest eyes she had ever seen in a man. “That’s my cat.” He said shyly.
“Oh!” Mary said and lifted the cat, “He just got here.” She smiled as Eric got closer and took the cat in his arms. He recognized her as the girl who was sleeping when Lucy was curing his hand.
Lucy and Henri share a knowing look, and then Henri cleared his throat.
“So, Lucy; Zena was telling me if you’d like to help her with some stuff upstairs.”
“Why? Of course! Do you think you can keep an eye on her?” She said looking at Eric.
“Me?”
“Yes, you…Eric, right?”
“Yes.” He thought for a moment, “I can stay while you come back.”
“Perfect.” Lucy stood up, “We’ll come back later.”
Eric stood in silence while Mary stared at him. When he turned he saw her giving him a tight smile.
“Hi.” Mary said.
“Hi!” Eric’s voice shrieked, he cleared his throat, “Hi.”
“Eric?”
“Yes.”
“I’m Mary.” She extended her hand towards him and waited until he took it. “wanna sit?” She patted the floor next to her.
Eric looked around as if he were waiting for someone to tell him not to sit, but eventually he sat down. Mary reached for her cookies and gave him one.
“So Eric, I’m going to assume you are the last man who got in the ferry.” He nodded, “Lucy told me about you, he said you swam.” Eric nodded again, “You don’t talk much, do you?”
“Sorry, I… my friend helped me get here.”
“And where are they?” Eric remained silent and blink his tears away, “You don’t have to tell me, I understand.”
“Do you?”
“My whole family is dead. I saw when those things took them.”
“So Lucy is not your mom?” His voice was clearer and louder this time.
“No, she was my mom’s best friend. We lived in the same building.” She took a deep breath, “When the noise died down she went there to check if there was any survivors and she found me in the kitchen putting food in my bag.” She lifted her cookie. “I like your accent.”
“Thanks.” He smiled, “I like yours.”
“How about you?” She bit her cookie. “What’s your story?”
“I’m… was a law student.”
“Wow! You must be really smart then. I heard it’s difficult to get in.”
“And expensive.” Eric added, “I was in the subway and some pipes exploded. Next thing I know I was coming out of the water and finding Frodo outside the subway station. He took me to his owner, the woman who distracted the creatures so I could be here.” Just in that moment Frodo jumped from Eric grip to Mary’s lap and purred, “He likes you.” Mary turned to see him and his eyes were shining.
“What part of London are you?”
“Kent. Have you been?”
“No, I was studying to be a nurse. But you know it was in the plans after I finish. Travel the world… Now there is no place in the world where those creature aren’t.”
“Well, let’s hope that wherever we going, it’ll be free of those things.”
Both of them stayed in silence for a moment. It wasn’t awkward, it felt peaceful.
“Eric?” he hummed, “Can I do something?” He nodded. Mary got closer and he moved backwards a bit. Her hands land on her tie. She gracefully undo his tie and another button of his shirt.
“It was a present from my mom. She gave it to me before I came to the States.”
She smiled, took the tie, folded and put it in her tote back. “It will be safe there.”
By the time Lucy came back she found Mary with her head on Eric’s shoulder, both of them sleeping peacefully.

Eric was running to get to the ferry that was going to take him out of the city while Sam distracted the creatures. He was holding Frodo against his chest and then he jumped into the water just as one of the creatures was about to catch him.
His entire body was tired, he hadn’t eaten or slept properly in the past couple of days; he didn’t know where he got the strength to swim. As he reached the ferry the people on it helped him to get on the boat.
“You’re safe.” A dark man told him as he patted his shoulder. “You’re safe.”
Eric’s eyes watered when he saw the smiles of the people surrounding him. He moved to a corner to rest for a bit holding his cat. Where are they going? He had no idea, all he knew was that he was still alive and it was all thanks to Sam. He knew himself, he knew that if he were alone the past few days he would’ve died at the hands of those things.
It was amazing how life can change so drastically in mere hours. He woke up that day to go to school to follow the path his father told him he needed to follow. A lawyer seemed like a grown up job and that’s what his dad expected from him, he wanted his son to grow up. The next thing he knew was that he was running for his life, hiding in the craziest places; and helping her friend to get pizza in the middle of a destroyed city.
As he read the note Sam left for him the words she wrote to him resonated in his head, he wished she had come with him. Sam was dying, he was aware of that, but he would hoped she died in a peaceful place and not in the middle of that chaos, and most importantly not alone.
“Hey.” The voice of a lady brought him back to reality, he was still shaking and tears were streaming down his cheeks. “Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you.” It was a middle aged woman with grey hair who smiled lovingly to him. For a moment Eric thought he was seeing his mom but of course that wasn’t possible. “You’re the one who just got here?” Eric nodded. “I’m Lucy, come with me.” Her voice was of a normal volume, no whispers, and no passing notes. Lucy walked passed him but he didn’t move.
“Come on.” Lucy told him.
Eric stood up and followed her to a lower level in the ferry; it will be the part where the cars would normally be. He noticed it was an improvised medical ward. Some men, women and children were there with bandages in different parts of their bodies.
“Sit.” Lucy said pointing to an empty chair. “What’s your name?”
“Eric.” He whispered.
“You don’t need to whisper here. You are safe, you can talk.” He nodded and looked away.
“I want to check on you. See if you are injured. Is that ok?”
“I’m not hurt.” His British accent passed his lips.
“I’ll feel better if you let me check on you. I’m a nurse and I wanna help.” Eric nodded and let her checked on him. Lucy tried to take his yellow sweater off of him but he flinch and grabbed her hand. “Not gonna hurt you.” Eric’s fear was shown through his eyes. “We’ll keep it on, ok?”
He nodded and let go of her hand. Lucy’s voice became distant as he looked around the room. Everyone was awake except for one person, a girl. This girl was sleeping on the floor next to the chair he was on, a blanket was covering her lower half. She seemed at peace, her brown hair all over the floor, dirt and dried blood on her face.
“You are not from around, are you?” Eric shook his head, “Did you have any family with you?”
“They’re in England… were… I don’t know.” Lucy nodded. “What happened to her?” He said pointing with his head towards her.
“She saved a kid and was attacked in the process. Her leg was injured.”
“Attacked by the creatures?”
“Yeap.” Lucy put a cotton with alcohol on a cut Eric had on his hand making him hiss.
“How is she alive?”
“Well the creature was going to attack the child, and she got in the way.” Lucy sighed, “That thing only managed to scratch her right leg with its claws or whatever they have. After that we hid and waited so we could scape and got here.” She smiled at Eric, “She passed out when we were stitching her wound. I gave some pain killers and she fell asleep.”
“Will she be alright?”
“I hope so.” Eric kept looking at her and Lucy noticed it. She finished bandaging his hand, “You’re all set.” She smiled proudly. “Nice cat, by the way.”
“Thank you.”
“You’re most welcome.” She stood up. “Now, I think you should go and tried to sleep too for a bit, you look like you need it.”
“I don’t know where…”
“Go one level up, and find a spot where you can lay down.”
Eric stood and got closer to see the girl, he noticed her things were above her head, a tote bag, her tennis shoes, a sweatshirt, and something that look like bloody ripped pants.
“You can come back later if you want. She will be here when you wake up.” Lucy smiled at him and he blushed when he was caught staring.
“Sorry.” He turned around and practically ran out of there. Lucy just shook her head.
“Hey Mary.” She whispered as she kneeled to check on her neighbor, “I believe someone wants to meet you.”
Summary: After a long day Andy takes a shower not knowing a little gobbling is watching him.

Andy hated summer cleaning, he hated it so much words couldn’t describe. That day as soon as Annie was awake she made sure everyone helped one way or another. But of course since he was the adult among the other 3 residents of the house, Annie send him to clean the attic.
“Why do we keep so much junk?!” Andy said to no one, “This is ridiculous.” He said as he moved another box that had old clothes. “HONEY?!”
“WHAT?!” Annie answer him from the bottom of the staircase.
“I think we need to donate all this boxes, they have clothes.”
“Cool! Bring them down.”
“Of course I have to bring them down.” He whispered.
“What was that?”
“Yes! I will bring them down.”
I took hours for Andy to finish cleaning and organizing the attic. By the time he finished his waist was in pain from bending over so many times in the past hours.
He climbed down the staircase and headed to their bedroom where he found Annie still organizing their closet.
“Almost done?” Andy said tiredly.
“Almost.”
“Da-da!!!” Lily shrieked when he saw her daddy standing in front of them. She lifted the piece of clothing she apparently was folding. Lily was growing so fast, one day she could barely left her head, and the next thing you knew was she was crawling all over the house and trying to stand up whenever she could. Andy made the whole house baby proof once Lily began to crawl because he caught her sitting at the top of the stairs.
“Oh you’re helping momma.” She laughed and proceeded to clap her chubby hands. “I’m taking a shower, I’m stinky and my waist is killing me, do you need anything else?”
“No, I almost finish. Go ahead.” She smiled as Andy kneel in front of her and kissed her, “You do stink.” She said playfully and Andy groaned. “Just kidding, go.”
Andy stood up and stripped as he waited for the water to be in the right temperature for him to step in. He get into the shower and the water began to relax his muscles. Andy sighed, grabbed his bottle of shampoo and proceeded to massage his scalp. It amazing how water makes wonders when you are tired, Andy thought. He walked under the water to rinse his hair.
“Dada!”
Andy turned almost slipping in the process and saw his daughter sited in the shower floor with her small sweatpants completely drench and her hair was already sticking to her forehead.
“Lily!”
“Dada.” She pointed to his dad and lifted her chubby arms making grabby hand to him.
“Honey?!” Andy laughed when he saw Lily blinking the droplets of water that were now falling down her eyes.
“What?!” When Annie walked in she saw the whole scene. “Oh my god, Lily!” Annie giggled when Lily turned to see her all smiley and proud of her doing. “You’re all wet.” Lily clapped. Annie turned to see her naked husband, “Nice view.” She winked at him. “Come here, princess.” But as soon as Annie took her out of the shower Lily whimpered. “No, don’t cry.” Lily’s lip quivered and her face began to turn red, “Ok, ok. Just let me get you out of these clothes.” Annie was quick to remove the clothes off her baby, who at this point was crying loud. “Shhhh shhhhh” Annie hold her in her arms and handed her to Andy. Lily stopped crying as soon as she was in the shower.
“I’ll go get her towel.”
Andy took the soap and passed it on Lily’s tummy making her laugh.
Lily was near to turn one “I wish you could stay like this forever.” Andy said looking straight to her daughter’s eyes who lean her small head against his chest.
“Is she ready?” Annie asked holding her towel, Andy nodded and gave Lily to Annie. “You had fun?” Lily kicked her legs. “Let’s give daddy time so he can finish his shower.”
By the time Andy came out of the bathroom, Annie was finishing dressing Lily who was blinking tiredly to a blank point on the wall.
“Can you watch her while I’ll go with Jake to make sure he showers?” Annie said while she finishing brushing the short hair on Lily’s head.
“Sure!”
Annie left them alone heading to Jake room. It took 15 minutes to convince the kid he needed to shower because he was full of dirty because of the cleaning.
“I mean it Jake! I’ll come back in 5 minutes and I expect the bathroom to smell like soap. Annie said as she closed the bathroom door. When she came back Andy was still in his towel with Lily sleeping with her head on his arm.
“I can’t move.” He mouthed to his wife. Annie shook her head and cover her mouth to stop her from laughing. “Help.”

It was nearly 11 o’clock of a Friday and he was still in the office. His desk was a mess, files scattered all over the surface and his laptop still on. He rubbed his eyes and stretched his arms over his head. He shut everything down and headed to the only car that remained in the parking lot outside the building.
He drove to the house and when he arrived all the lights were out. He walked into the house, left his things by the door and dragged his feet to the stairs. He stopped by Jake’s room, the boy was sleeping on his back, in just a pair of shorts because of the weather; it was summer after all. He then walked to Lily’s nursery, the small child was sleeping just like his brother, looking like a star fish while she sucked at her small fist. Andy smiled as he caressed her check softly.
He sighed and headed to his room, the door was slightly ajar as per usual when he was late.
Annie was there, sleeping on her side, a hand on his pillow. Andy looked down to his left hand the wedding ring was there again; like it was once before her. He wasn’t alone, he had her and his kids.
He stripped his suit off and left his black boxer briefs on. He slide under the white sheet, moving closer to her body and soon he felt how she reached for him and hugged him as Andy hid his face in her neck.
“Mmmm, long day?” She said with a groggy voice.
“Mhm.” Was all he said.
“Wanna talk about it?” Andy could heard the tiredness in her voice.
“No, go back to sleep, honey.”
“Hmmm” She hummed and then sighed, “I’m sorry you had a long day” She caressed the back of his head. She gave him a kiss on the forehead, “You’re home now.” Andy kissed her lips softly, “Good night, baby.”
“I love you.”

Andy was laying on their bed watching TV and chewing on her apple when Andy walked in and stood in front of the bed.
“We need to talk.”
“Ok.” She put her apple on her night stand, “What about?”
“Your stupid diet.”
“I told you it’s not stupid.”
“It is! You barely eat, and when you do, is all steamed vegetables or fruit. Look if you want to do this, I’ll take you to a doctor or something, but you are starving yourself, and I wanna fucking know why?” His voice louder than usual.
“I just…” her eyes fill with tears, “I wanna look pretty for you…” She lifted her gaze to see Andy’s confused expression.
“Honey,” he sat next to her, “You are beautiful.” He tried to caress her face but she pulled away.
“No, I’m not! I’m fat and my clothes don’t fit anymore, and I just wanted to be pretty for you.” By the time she finished tears were streaming down her face.
“Who told you you were fat? Is this why you don’t let me touch you?!” she nodded.
“No one told me, I can tell, every day that I look myself in the mirror… I look bigger; and the dress you gave me for our anniversary doesn’t fit anymore… I wanted to look like the girl you fell in love with.”
“You still look like that girl, honey” he pulled her close making her sit on his lap “Those beautiful eyes, that cute smile, what’s not to love?”
She hugged him and hide her face on the crock of his neck for him not to see her cry.
“You don’t care I’m fat?” she sniffed and rubbed her eyes.
“Alright, show me where all the fat you’re talking ‘bout is”
Annie lifted her shirt a tad and show him her tummy. He put his large hand on it. “Looks good to me” he said smirking at her, and then proceed to tickle her.
“Stop!” she said while giggling.
“There it is, that laugh!” He kissed the tip of her nose. “Come,” Andy put her on her feet and took her hand. They walked to the closet and stood in front of the mirror, “Off with the clothes.”
“Andy, I don’t want to.”
“You can leave your underwear on, but the rest must be gone, come on. The faster you do it, the faster we finish this.”
Annie took out her t-shirt and shorts, leaving her in only her panties and bra. Andy stood behind her.
“So, where’s the problem?”
“Everywhere.” She took a deep breath, “My tummy looks like a deflated balloon, my arms are fat, and I ammm I don’t like the stretched marks.”
“That’s it?”
“No, I don’t like…”
“You know what I see?” Andy interrupted her and she shook her head, “I see a woman who gave birth to the most precious little girl. I see a good mom and an amazing wife.”
“I feel ugly!”
“You are not ugly!”
“I certainly don’t feel pretty.”
“I don’t understand why. You look perfect to me.” Annie turned and hugged Andy “Shhhh,” Andy hugged her tighter, “Baby girl, you are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.” She sniffed, “If your body changed is because you gave birth. You look gorgeous! Bigger ass though, I like that very much I must say.” He heard a fainted giggled, “And if that dress is giving you a hard time, I will buy you another one, stupid dress, making my girl sad.”
Annie laughed this time.
“I love you.”
“I love you too, honey.”
“Can I put my clothes back on?”
“Sure!”
Once she was dressed again Andy kissed her slowly, holding her waist and keeping her close to his body and then Annie’s stomach growled.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be, that actually reminded me of something” He gave her a peck on the nose, “Be right back.”
Annie walked back to bed and soon after Andy came back hiding something behind his back.
“Ok, I need you to close your eyes, and open your mouth.”
“I’m not falling for that… again.” She said and Andy laughed.
“It’s not my… it’s not, I promise.” She did as he said, and listen to the sound of a paper bag. “Now closed your mouth.” The flavor of a French fry filled her mouth and she moaned at the tasty flavor. The wrapped paper was still around the burger and the fry’s package was on Andy’s hand.
“You didn’t thought we actually ate your food, right?” She giggled, “I actually thought you were doing a great effort with your “diet” soo,” he unwrapped the burger, “Double bacon cheese burger and large fries for my lady.”
“You are the greatest husband ever.” She took the burger and give it a good bite, “My god! I’ve missed this!”
Andy sat next to Annie watched her enjoyed her meal.
“Honey,” Andy said while she put a fry on her mouth, “Please, no more crazy diets, ok?” She nodded as she chew her food. “I mean it!”
“Promise.” She gave him her pinky finger and hook his with hers. “I’ll find someone to help me be in shape again.”
“You can work out with me if you want.”
“Pass! You get up really early to work out and considering I have a baby to take care of I rather to work out later, but thank you.”
“That’s not the work out I’m talking about.” He said as he raised his brow.
“Oh!” Andy kissed the back of her ear, “Hehehe, stop, it tickles.”
“Just a bit, come on.”
“It’s the middle of the day, the kids are awake!”
“Be right back, finish your food and get ready for the work out of your life.” Andy stood, “Kids! Time for a nap!”

It was an idea where just after Annie and Andy are married. Annie has to get her wisdom teeth removed! And Annie is not a fan of the dentist or needles (getting the IV) and is scared for the recovery. But Andy is there for her every step of the way! From getting the call of the appointment. To comforting her at the office and afterwards the car ride home. Annie being in a goofy mood as Andy helps her to the bedroom maybe helping her change into comfy clothes and Andy helps/comforts her to sleep… And at home helping her recover when her mouth is sore and teeth hurts 🥺🥺 and Jacob is also super cute and worried! Just something comforting and fluffy 🥺

Another day at the Barber’s household. It was a Saturday morning, the house was quiet except for the sound of the cutlery against the plates. Annie was eating extra careful today, she took some scrambled eggs with her fork and made sure she chew only on her left side.
“What’s the matter?” Andy asked and sipped his coffee.
“Hmmm?”
“Why are you eating like this?”
“I’m eating normal.” But right at that moment she bit a piece of toast that went straight to the back of her mouth on the right side and she flinched.
“There! Does your tooth hurt?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Maybe you should go to the dentist, see what’s wrong.”
“No, no. I’m good! I’ll take a pill, I’m sure it’s nothing!” she nervously laughed.
Annie did take the pill, however the pain didn’t go away. In fact it was worse than before, and now she could see her face was a bit swollen.
“Alright!” Andy walked into the bathroom, “Get dress, you’re going to the dentist.”
“WHAT?”
“You need to go! Look at your cheek!”
“Andy I’m fine! It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“Really?” His hand reach her face and his fingers barely grace her cheek.
“OW! Stop that!”
“We are going now, I don’t care if you are scare of the dentist.”
“I’m not scare of the dentist.” Andy lifted his brow and tilted his head, “Alright! I am scare of the dentist! I wore braces and they were awful! And I hate the noise the machine does when they’re cleaning your teeth!”
“Honey, they need to check your tooth, your face is swollen, it’s not normal and it’s not nothing.”
“Argh! Fine! But if it hurts while they’re checking I’m gonna kick you.”
“Deal! You have 10 minutes.”

“Ok,” The dentist walked into the office, “We have to remove both your wisdom teeth from the bottom.”
“hehehehehe no, no, no, no.”
“You have an abscess on the right side, which is why your face is a bit swollen. So I will work on the abscess today, give you some pain medication and I will remove your teeth next Friday, that way you will rest during the following weekend.”
“What? Why?”
“Well,” The doctor took out an x-ray, “You have impacted teeth, in your case you teeth grew out in an angular form,” he pointed the x-ray show how her teeth was leaned towards the other. “And with time this will cause you problems in the rest of your teeth.”
“What kind for problem?”
“They can move the rest of your teeth and you will have to use braces.”
“Not again!” The doctor giggled once she looked the face of Annie.
“I had my wisdom teeth removed while I was studying. It’s not a big deal.” Andy said.
“Shut up! What do you know?”
“Don’t worry, it’s a standard procedure, I promise you will be fine and we will take care of you.” The dentist smiled fondly to her, “Ready for that abscess?”
“No.” she sighed.
“People always say that.”
30 minutes later, Annie walked out of the office to the reception are where Andy was waiting for her. Her face was red as tears were streaming down her cheeks.
“Oh my poor baby.” Andy tried to reach for her hand but Annie slapped him.
“I hate you!” Andy just giggled.
“See you next Friday, Annie.” The doctor said and Annie just whimpered against Andy’s arm.

Friday came faster than Annie would’ve liked. She woke up early and put the comfiest sweatpants and hoodie she own. Both she and Andy asked for permission in their respective jobs, and when it was 9:30 Andy drove them to the dentist office.
“I will be here when you’re done.”
“Can you like go in with me?”
“He can’t ma’am.” A young girl at the front desk said, “I’m sorry.”
“You’ll be fine.” Andy gave her a kiss on the lips, “I’ll sit there.” Annie nodded and she walked towards the door the girl previously indicated.
“I was actually thinking you were not going to show up.” The doctor said once Annie was already in the chair.
“Andy make me.”
“He is a smart man.” The doctor grabbed a weird looking mask, “Ready for the good stuff?” He wiggled his brows. Annie just nodded. “Ok.” He put the mask on her nose, “You are going to breathe, you will start to feel sleepy, and when you wake up your teeth will be gone.” It wasn’t long after that last sentences when her eyes closed.
“Hey.” It was a soft deep voice, “There you are.” Annie blinked a couple of times trying to focus on the voice. The man smiling to her was so handsome.
“Cute.” She mumbled.
“She will be off for a couple of hours. Between the anesthesia and the pain meds.” Another man spoke. “Just wait 10 more minutes and you can take her home.”
“Thank you, doctor.” Andy turned to look at her wife who was looking at her fingers as she moved them, “how you doing, honey?”
“You’re so handsome.” She slurred.
“No, you are, gorgeous. And you were so brave” He kissed her forehead, “Ready to go home?” Annie nodded sleepily.
A couple of girls helped Andy to wheel Annie to their car.
“Alright, baby. Slow and steady.”
“Andy?”
“Yes, baby?”
“You are so cute.” She said the best she could with her still numbed mouth.
“Thank you, we will be home soon and then you can rest.”
Andy helped her climb on the car, closed the passenger door, and ran to the driver’s side. But when he climbed in, he found her already sniffling.
“What’s wrong?”
“You don’t think I’m cute.”
“Of course I think you are cute!”
“You didn’t say it back! You don’t love me?”
“Of course I love you. With all my heart, honey, I swear.” Big fat tears fell down her eyes, “Don’t cry, baby.” He took her hand and kiss it, “Let’s get you home.”
15 minutes later, they were walking in the house. Andy’s hand was placed on small of her back.
“Wanna be on the couch or the bed?”
But she didn’t answer and walked straight to the living room. Annie sat on the couch and look around.
“What are you looking for?
“Phone.”
“Oh,” Andy reached for her phone in the pocket of his pants, “Here. Why don’t you lay down; while I’ll get you a glass of water.”
Andy wasn’t in the kitchen yet when he heard her scream, so he came back running.
“What?”
“There’s blood in my mouth.” She tried to take out the cotton and gauze, but Andy stopped her.
“No, you have to leave them on.”
“There’s blood.”
“Of course, they took out your wisdom teeth.”
“What? Where are they?”
“Ammm I assumed in the doctor’s office.”
“But they’re mine!” Andy was trying hard not to laugh, but she looked so adorably confused right now.
“I’ll call them and ask them to send the teeth over.”
“Yes, cuz I don’t want witchcraft with my teeth.”
“Witchcraft?” Andy said with humor.
“The doc said he was from Salem. They have witches.”
“I’m pretty sure the doctor is not a witch.”
“How you know?”
“Well, there was no Hogwarts diploma anywhere.” Annie looked surprised and nodded, “On the meantime, how about if you rest? Let me get your pillow.”
“I want my shorts, I don’t like the pants.” She began kicking her legs.
“Alright, be right back.”
When Andy came back she was still right where he left her.
“Ok, honey.” He put his hands on her waist to help her laid down.
“Don’t touch me.”
“Ok, I’m sorry.”
“You’re mad at me.”
“I’m not mad, baby. It’s ok, you are just on some medicine right now.”
Annie laid down and Andy helped her arrange her pillow and cushions behind her back for her to be comfortable.
“Please don’t be upset with me.” She was starting to get emotional again.
“I’m not upset.”
“I’m not being so nice, huh?” she said sobbing a little. “I don’t’ wanna be this way. I wanna be nice! Cuz I’m a nice person.”
“I know, babygirl.”
“But you hate me right now.”
“I don’t hate you.”
“I look like a chipmunk.” Andy laughed this time. “Don’t laugh.”
“You are the cutest chipmunk.” He kissed her cheek carefully, “Let’s get you out of these pants, lift your hips.” She did as she was told and Andy was met by Annie’s bare pussy. “Honey, where’s your underwear?” Annie looked down and make a small shriek which make Andy laughed, “you naughty girl,” he slid her legs in the shorts, “hips up again.” The elastic hit the skin on her hips, “There, better?” she nodded sleepily. “I’ll go get your water. Wanna watch TV?”
“Yes, please.”
“What you wanna watch?”
“Aladdin.”
Half an hour later, the doorbell rang. Sophie was at the front door holding Jake’s hand when Andy opened the door.
“Hi! Thank you so much for bringing him.”
“It’s ok, how is Annie?”
“Still off. She just told me what she would ask if she had a genie to grant her 3 wishes. I didn’t expect for her to say she wanted to be a pony.” Sophie laughed.
“If you guys need anything, don’t hesitate to call.” Andy smile to her, “Bye, Jake.”
Andy closed the door and found Jake sitting on the floor, reaching for something inside his backpack.
“Is mommy ok?”
“Yes, she is a bit tired and sleepy. And she sound funny when she talks, but she is fine.”
“I make these for her.” Jake showed Andy a card and a flower made of paper, “My teacher help with the flower.”
“I’m sure she’s gonna love them. Go with her, she is on the couch.
Jake ran the short distance to the living room and found Annie drifting off.
“Mommy?”
“Huh?” Annie opened her eyes and looked at Jake. “Baby!” she said overly excited.
“Hi, mommy.” He jumped on the couch and kissed her, “I make you these.” He passed the flower and the card to her. Annie opened the card and read: “To the best mommy in the world. Get well soon. Love you, Jake.” Under these lines there was a drawing of the three holding hands.
“Aw! Oh, god!” her eyes began to water. “Am I the best mom?” Jake nodded with a big smile on his face. When Andy walked in, Annie was crying again.
“Buddy, what did you say to her?”
“I’m the best mom!” She said through sobs.
“I like your chubby cheeks.” Jake said giggling and climbed on top of her to hug her, “I love you, mommy.” As Jake hugged her she began to relax again and soon after she fell asleep.
“You’re so good with her Jake.” Andy said waiting for the boy to move away from her, but to his surprise, Jake was also sleeping.
Andy just shook his head, took the throw blanket from the back of the couch and cover them both with it.
“You’re such a momma’s boy.” Andy said softly and smiled. Walking out of the living room he was determine to surprise them with lunch when they woke up. “Who am I kidding, I’ll just door dash.” He said to himself as he took the phone and headed to the kitchen to let them rest.

Everyone said having a baby was one of the greatest things ones would experience. It was 3:45 when the crying of Lily woke Annie up. Annie got up, walked to her nursery, and took Lily back with her. As Annie sat down, Andy stirred awake.
“What is it?” Andy asked in a groggy voice.
“She is just hungry.” Annie yawned as she lifted her top and placed Lily near her nipple. Andy groaned, turned to his side and went back to sleep. Meanwhile Lily was eating and Annie was drifting off, her eyes were heavy with sleep, she put her back against the headboard and waited until Lily finished. Once lily was done she burped her and took her back to her crib. And this had been her routine lately.
Andy had noticed how tired her wife was, how she cried whenever she thought no one was watching her.
“Honey?” Andy approached her one evening, “You know you can tell me anything, right? We’ve talked about this before I hate it when you hide things from me.”
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me, ok?” She gave him a kiss on the lips, “I’m just tired.” She smiled but that smile didn’t reach her eyes.
Any took her hand and squeezed it, “I love you.”
“I love you too.” She walked passed by Andy and took the hamper of dirty clothes.
“Honey, is 9 p.m.”
“I know, I know, but I didn’t have time to wash these today, so…I won’t be long.” And she left.
It was a Saturday, Lily had woken up 3 times. First because she was hungry, the second because she was wet and the third apparently just because she was ready for the day to begin at 5 a.m. Annie was sitting on one of the stools by the counter when a very cheerful Andy walked in.
“Good morning!” Making Annie jumped, “Sorry I scared you.”
“S’fine.” She yawned and drank from the glass of juice she had.
“How you slept?” he got closer and kissed the back of her head.
“I didn’t, but hey she is sleeping now.” She looked at her phone, it was close to 8:30 “I need to wake her up in a couples of minutes.”
“Maybe you should let her rest.”
“Nu-uh, if she sleeps during the day she won’t sleep during the night.”
“SO, I was thinking last night, and I think it would be good for you if we have a night off. I texted Sharon and told her the 4 of us should go out for dinner tonight. I just need to get a babysitter but I don’t think that would be a problem.”
“Are you insane?”
“Hey!”
“I can’t go out Andy! The house is dirty!” She stood up, “I have so many things to do to go out for dinner.”
“Honey…”
“You better cancel because I am not in the mood to see anybody!”
The day went by and after lunch Andy went to his office to read some files to get ahead on a case he needed to see on Monday, while Annie was cleaning the kitchen. The whole house was a mess lately, no matter how much she cleaned, the house never seemed to stay clean for more than a couple of hours. Her body ached and she felt exhausted. It was nearly 4 p.m. when she put the last dish away, she was ready to sit down for a while to wait for the cycle of laundry to be over. She walked to the living room only to find out Jake had scattered his toy box all over the floor with him in the middle.
“No!” Jake jumped when she heard her scream.
“Hi, mum!”
“No! What is wrong with you?! I just cleaned!!!”
“But I wanna play!”
“I don’t care! I just cleaned! And you…argh!!!!!!”
She felt so frustrated, sat down on the couch and looked at the mess Jake did.
“I just cleaned…” She whispered and then she cried.
“Mum?” Annie was sobbing, big tears running down her face, “I sorry! Dad!!!!”
Jake stood up and ran to his dad’s office.
“Dad!” Jake opened the door.
“What’s wrong, buddy?”
“I made mum cry!”
“What?”
Andy got out of this office and found Annie fully crying, her face was red at this point.
“What did you do?” Andy asked Jake.
“I was playing.”
“Honey, what’s wrong?”
“I just cleaned,” she took a deep breath, “and then this!” Annie pointed to the toys on the floor. “I’ve just cleaned the living room! And Jake did this! And I just,” she cleaned her nose with the back of her hand, “I can’t do this.”
“Ok, ok, take a deep breath.”
“No! I cleaned here and Jake in less than a fucking minute put the place upside down again!”
Once Andy heard her cursing she knew she was pissed. She never cursed in front of Jake.
“Ok, honey. I’m sure Jake didn’t mean to make you upset. Right, buddy?”
“Yes, I sorry, mum! I clean now!” The small boy took the box and began to gather all his toys and put them away.
“No! Leave it! You are grounded!!”
“What?” Jake asked.
“Honey.”
“Go to your room! Now!”
Jake dropped what he had on his hands and ran to his room.
“FUCK!!!!!!!” Andy tried to touch her but she pushed him away. “I just cleaned.” She said one more time. Softer this time.
“I know. Take a deep breath.” Annie followed his breathing when all of the sudden the cries of Lily filled their ears.
“No, please, no more cries.” Annie was so frustrated.
“I got her.” Andy walked to the kitchen where the cries came from, “Come here princess.” He took her out of the baby carrier and began bouncing her as he walked back to the living room. It took only minutes for Lily to stop crying.
“She hates me.” Annie said.
“She doesn’t hate you.”
“She does! She just stops crying whenever you hold her! I feed her! My nipples are sore from feeding her! And she cries and cries! And I can’t make her stop!”
“You are just tired, honey.”
Andy saw her wife blink her tiredness away. The bags under her eyes were deep and dark. Her eyes were still red from crying. Her hair was all over the place and her t-shirt had milk stains on it.
“How about if you go to sleep? I can clean and take care of the kids.”
“No, I…” She stood up and began picking up Jake’s toys, “Can do it.” She threw some of them into the box, “I need to finish, so I can go to the supermarket and buy everything for tonight’s dinner.”
“Honey, no one is coming. The plan was to go out for you not to do anything. And you said you didn’t want to see anyone. I cancel.”
“Very well,” She took a deep breath and clean her tears. “I still have to take out the laundry.” She yawned and rubbed her eyes.
“No.”
“’m sorry, what?”
“I said no. Go to our room. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“But…” Andy clenched his jaw and stared at her. Annie put the toys in the box and walked away.
Meanwhile Andy was still holding Lily how was wide awake.
“Your mommy is exhausted. You are giving her a hard time little lady.” Lily just coo.
5 minutes later Andy walked in with Lily in her arms. Annie was sitting on the bed looking out the window. When Andy got closer she saw Annie was sleeping while sited.
“Honey?”
“I’m awake!” she turned to see him, “Is she hungry?” she lifted her arms to take Lily in her arms.
“Amm no, but how about a shower?”
“Yeah, I can bathe her.”
“Not for Lily. For you.” Annie just looked at him still waiting for him to pass the baby to her, “Tell you what, you can have Lily while I’ll prepare you the bathroom, that ok?” She nodded, “Good! Be right back.” She handed Lily to her mom and off he went.
When Andy came back Annie was humming a lullaby and Lily was holding her finger with her chubby hand, a toothless smile across her face.
“You are so cute.” Andy heard her whispered to their child.
“That’s because her momma is cute too.” She turned and smiled tiring to him. “Come on, time for a shower.”
Annie put Lily on the basinet, walked to the bathroom and stripped. When her body touched the warm water she sighed.
Meanwhile Andy checked on Lily who was very busy sucking on her whole hand. He walked out of the room and towards Jake’s.
“Buddy?” Jake was on his bed looking at the ceiling.
“I still grounded?”
“Ammm. Well since your mom grounded you she is the one to decide.” Andy sat near his feet.
“I only wanna play.”
“I know, but you mom made a great effort to clean the house and well you know… It’s just been hard for her now with Lily here. So I need you to go downstairs, pick all of your toys and made a bag, you staying with Luis tonight.”
Jake nodded and ran to follow Andy’s instructions. Andy came back to their room, and took Lily with him.
“Mommy need some time alone, so you are coming with me.”
When Annie finished her shower, she felt a lot more relaxed. She walked to the closet and grabbed some clean clothes. She was about to sit on the bed when she notice Lily was no longer in the basinet. She rapidly walked to the entrance of the room.
“Andy! Do you have Lily?”
“YES! SHE IS WITH ME!” Andy shouted from the kitchen.
Annie took her time to dress, brush her hair and moisturized her body. The TV was on giving her some company with the sound of a show she didn’t know.
Andy was folding the laundry when he notice the time, it was nearly an hour after he heard the water of the shower stopped.
“Let’s check on your mom.” Andy took Lily with him and once he got to the door he opened it slowly. Annie was sleeping peacefully on her side, holding one of the pillows and with the throw blanket covering her legs. Andy smiled and closed the door.
Annie woke up by the sound of the doorbell, the room was completely dark.
“Oh, god” She turned to see the clock on Andy’s side. “7:30, Fuck! Have to make dinner!” She jumped out of the bed and ran downstairs to find Andy putting food on the table.
“Honey! I was about to go and wake you up.” Andy got closer and kiss her forehead, “I didn’t know what you wanted to eat, so I bought, pizza, Chinese, sushi and Italian. I thought it was better to have options.” Annie didn’t say a word, “You ok?”
“I...” She scanned the kitchen, “Where’s Lily?”
“Sleeping in her baby carrier on her play mat in the living room, turns out Bluey is better than me.” He laughed.
“Where is Jake?”
“He’s staying with Luis tonight. He is very sorry by the way, and before he left he picked up his toys.”
“Ok…I…the laundry I need to take out the laundry and…”
“It’s done and I folded it. Although I put the clothes in the living room because I didn’t want to wake you. But I promise I’ll put everything in the right place after we finish our dinner.” Annie’s eyes began to water and Andy hugged her. “Shhhhh, I’m right here.” He rubbed his hand on her back, “Did you rest.” She nodded against his chest, “Are you hungry?”
“Very.” She muffled against him.
“Alright,” Andy smiled to her and reached for her chair, “My lady.” Annie sat down. “What are you craving tonight?”
“I’ll have a slice of pizza and ammm chow main, please?
“Excellent choice! For drinks we have apple and orange juice, tap water, coke or if you’re feeling a little rebel, wine.”
“Water with ice is fine.”
“Coming right up!”
For the rest of the night Andy didn’t let her lift a finger. He washed and put the dished away, he put all the remained food in containers in the fridge and cleaned the kitchen.
By the time he made it to the room Annie was drifting off. When Andy sat Annie opened her eyes.
“Sorry.”
“It’s ok, no need to apologize.” He lean towards her and kissed her, “I love you, and I want you to know you are not alone in this.”
“It’s just too much some times.”
“Yes, but you don’t have to deal with everything at once.”
“I feel like such a failure.” She sniffed.
“Honey, you are not a failure. You are amazing! Everything you do. You are a great mom and an amazing wife. Don’t you ever forget that,” He kissed her again, “I’m here for you; for everything you need.”
“Thank you.”
“Wanna watch a movie?”
“I don’t think I can’t make it to the end.”
“That’s ok. I only wanna spend time with you. Come here.” He laid down and opened his arms and Annie snuggled against his chest. Andy sighed when the cries of Lily reached their ears.
“I got her.” Andy said, leaving Annie who fell asleep right after that.
