To say that the universe has a purpose implies that there is a destination or a goal. If that purpose exists, it certainly doesn’t have anything to do with us, the Johnny-come-latelys of the human race. Does the universe have a purpose? There’s a heck of a case to be made that it doesn’t. 

But don’t despair in that view. Purpose or not, we are here, and we can discover our place in the larger extent of the cosmos even if we can’t fully describe why it’s all here.

If everybody who had these conversations with unintelligent people took the time to really listen to what they have to say and explain to them in a calm, respectful way why they are wrong, these people would slowly but surely become extinct.

Why This is a Thing

I need a place to write down all my thoughts.  I think religion is such a fascinating thing, a beautiful thing.  I just wonder if it's true.  I've become obsessed with religion over the past year, but nobody knows it.  I don't think I've gone a day without seriously contemplating or thinking about religion for a cumulative hour in the past year.  If I told people I had doubts I would be seen very differently and that scares me.

I think my thoughts are interesting, and maybe some other people do too.

It's funny how people who are least skeptical towards the bible are most skeptical towards evolution.
