Agree to Disagree

Hi! We're an open-minded couple who we barely agrees on any topic. We have an age difference of 9 years (20 and 29) and we were also born in different countries (Spain/England). We started this page to debate day to day topics and problems that we face and talk about. We're open for input on opinions as nobody is ever a 100% correct.

Cooking… Now I can’t be the only person who loves cooking alone. I don’t know why, is it because I just love doing things my way, am I a perfectionist? Not sure.

All I know is that when people ask me if I need help, including my girlfriend, the answer is always no. Maybe on the odd occasion I ask for them to bring me a beer haha. I wish I could be different but I just love my alone time in the Kitchen.

I never mean to offend anyone, I just want to do a good job so people enjoy my food, that really gives me a lot of satisfaction. I wonder if I’ll ever change.

I don't think you should change that, whenever I ask you if you need help is because I know the answer will be no, otherwise I wouldn't ask haha. JK, I don’t mind if you want to be alone but sometimes (only sometimes) I can be a little bit chatty and I like being in the kitchen with you and learning a little bit from you (also the food smells so good).

Don’t worry, even if 10 people were distracting you while you’re cooking your food would still be incredibly yummy.

Okay…. Where do I start!

If I don’t turn over in my sleep and hug you… well maybe I’m asleep and don’t know what I’m doing- I knew that at some point I would start fucking up in my sleep as well hahaha  

Being serious, I’m one of those people that just love sleeping alone, I don’t mean that I can’t sleep in the same bed as my girlfriend or anything. I love when P. sleeps over but just dislike being hugged constantly, I hate the feeling that I have to be still so not to disturb someone, once that is in your head you are automatically uncomfortable..

I love turning over and putting my arm over her during the night or getting closer but to be honest I don’t do it much because straight away she turns around, breaths in my face, hugs me and steals my pillow!!!! hahahaha  can’t be dealing with that bae.

Ok, here I come...

If you’re one of those people that just love sleeping alone, then I’m one of those people that just love cuddling. So then, why am I the only one to respect you? Have you thought that it would be nice if sometimes you just let yourself go a little bit? When you’re exhausted or kinda tipsy you like it just like I do, admit it and learn to release yourself in bed (don’t misundertand me) my❤️! As you see, I have a very tense and cold bf... what can I do about it:/ hahahaha

Let me explain to you as well how exaggerated he is being in some aspects. Maybe before we both fall asleep I hug him, but believe me, when he gets all angry because I hug him I take it seriously and turn around instantly. I don’t breath in his face or steal his pillow, but he likes to generalize stuff that barely happens...

Being serious, I don’t know why you haven’t got me a teddy as a present yet.

Gaming, when is it too much?

Hi!

 We wanted to start the blog with a topic that comes up very often with our day to day life as a couple. One of us loves playing videogames (take a guess at who haha…) and sometimes the other gets a bit overwhelmed with it. That other person is me. I must say I enjoy videogames, it’s just that I can’t imagine myself playing all day, not even 3 hours in a row, it just seems to be excessive and unreasonable from my point of view. 

The thing is my partner is completely different and sometimes when I’m tired of being unproductive with my life (because to me it’s actually unproductive) I get really annoyed and I just need to chat a little bit, do something different that gets me away from the screen. 

The thing is, if my partner doesn’t think of it as something unproductive or negative, it’s normal to not do anything about it, but at the same time it kills me thinking how excessive I find it (I know it’s none of my business and I’m in no position to control what my partner wants to do, of course). But I’m talking about hours here people… I don’t count but believe me, it’s a lot.

 I think that the playstation is good as a hobby to disconnect, but still, it’s a hobby, it should be to disconnect from the real world for while and not to connect exclusively with that dehumanizing lie. I truly believe that if we spent less time videogaming we could find different stuff to do and  be into. When videogames didn’t exist, I’m sure people had plenty of things to do to spend their free time and it seems like now it’s that or nothing. We can play videogames and still know when our mind is just stuck to the screen, and it’s right there where we must stop and devote that time to find other stuff to do, for ourselves and the people around us. 

In my opinion, excessive videogaming slows our mind in many ways, makes us lazy and turns our free time into some kind of routine, as we end up associating free time exclusively with that, which I find extremely sad.

So okay, I enjoy playing on the Ps4, I don’t think it’s exactly unhealthy as long it doesn’t overrun your day to day life and become your number 1 priority.          Since this is partly a personal thing I’ll answer that first. I only normally play after work, chores around the house, workout or any other hobbies, etc, For me jumping on the Ps4 with my mates and chatting with them on a day to day basis while we play is a perfect way to disconnect, catch up and all in all have a good time. 

I would say that if I prioritized videogames over those other things than yes… It would become a problem, but as everyone knows as you get older it is difficult to stay in touch  with your mates, especially if you are a large group, and whatsapp is great but not the same as chatting via your headset in a private group at night when you can’t meet. 

Now, getting to our personal situation we don’t live together yet but do spend a lot of nights together, before Christmas and holidays when we only saw each other at the weekend, come Friday I never even thought about playing the Ps4, first thought is P. is here lets go for a drink, dinner, walk, friends, etc I would never play, but if we are seeing each other everyday I think it is normal that I continue with my traditions and ways and spend time doing something that makes me happy like gaming. I would never ever criticise someone for doing something they loved if it hurt no one. 

So my question is. Is it really such a big deal?  Does it actually anger you? Or is it the idea that gaming is a waste of time and not socially accepted as a valid hobby?  Not ready to agree to disagree yet sorry… :)

As I mentioned before, What bothers me has to do with the way I see videogaming and the consequences I think it has, not the fact that you play itself. Maybe it's the different view we have on videogames what makes us disagree. To me, it's just a way of holding you back without even noticing it, since when you're that into it you just forget about other ways of spending that time you devote to the ps4 and as it makes you feel so good you just think it’s totally fine. I must say I'm not talking about our personal and current situation, but more in general terms that could apply to us.
