19/3/18 A rare moment of good lighting has graced my room today. So a rare studyblr photo has reached my blog to celebrate it. I’m feeling motivated to work but as soon as I get going i suddenly feel so tired. I’m feeling a little sad today, it’s nearly easter so the break will be good, but it means saying hello to a lot of work, and this week is so work heavy because after the strikes I’m having to cram a lot of work in, and so are the department. xxx Emily
Love how I always pile to do’s for each day and never accomplish all of them. A master of time management

first week of my summer travels - budapest! i’ve been to a lot more places than the fisherman’s bastion obviously, but just look at it!! its so pretty i can’t help but use those photos…
lazy study tips
1. use quizlet. quizlet is amazing because you can access your flashcards on your phone!! this way you can easily flip through them while waiting in line, watching tv, etc.
2. use the pomodoro technique. if you’re lazy like i am, sitting down for 6+ hours a day to study can be daunting. giving yourself multiple breaks throughout a study session will help to keep you going!
3. watch youtube videos. watching videos or listening to podcasts on the topic you’re studying could be a huge time saver and is a lot more interesting than flipping through a textbook. and you can easily do this in bed!! (i would not advise to do this instead of using a textbook all together just in case information is left out of the video)
4. try to build a steady study routine. block out a chunk of time in the middle of the day every day for studying. this way, you know that when the time is up, you have the rest of the day to relax!
5. get sleep. i’ve found that i’m at my laziest when i haven’t been sleeping much. avoid being sluggish throughout the day and get some rest! this will cut back on nap/rest time and increase productivity during the day.
6. consider the consequences of not studying. which will benefit you more in the long run- getting your work done now, or watching another episode?
7. reward yourself. give yourself a little treat (a piece of candy, etc.) after completing a set amount of work. this will keep you motivated to keep studying!
8. just start. the hardest part of studying is starting- force yourself to sit down and open up your notes.
as always, thanks for reading! x

finals season is upon us! here are some pictures of my chem notes (i’m honestly learning so much in this class and it’s an exhilarating experience). i am honestly so thankful for the wonderful friends and TAs who have helped me so much my first semester, and i’m hoping i can do well on my finals next week! good luck to everyone else who is preparing for finals- we got this! ✨
Shut down so you can restart.
Clear off your bed and change your sheets if you need to. Change into comfortable pajamas. Shut down all your devices/plug them in to charge. Drink tea, or warm milk, or drink a glass of water, then do your night skincare routine if you have one. Brush your teeth. Put on deodorant. Go to the washroom. Put a glass of water by the bed. Go to bed sometime before 10 PM. Don’t look at any devices. Don’t get back up. Listen to music, or a calming podcast, if you’re having trouble falling asleep. Set an alarm for 10 AM.
Restart and open up a new tab.
Do some yoga or light physical exercise. Go for a walk. Go for a run if that’s what you feel like.
Replace the battery.
Eat breakfast. Try to get some protein; avoid sugars and simple carbs. Eggs, brown bread and coffee are a good start. For quick iced coffee, brew strong, dark, hot coffee and fill a cup completely with ice. Pour the hot coffee into the cup full of ice. Eat without reading or watching anything. Once you’re done, immediately wash all dishes and wipe down the countertops.
Clean the hardware.
Get up sometime before 10 AM or at 10 AM. Pick out a nice outfit, something that’s comfortable, clean and that you think looks good. Go to the washroom. Gather all your shower supplies, any soaps or anything. Get in the shower. Wash your body. Shave, if that’s your thing. Wash your hair. Condition. Turn the shower off. Moisturize. Get out of the shower and dry off. Dry your hair or towel it off. Do your skincare. Put on deodorant. Put on your clothes.
Empty the recycle bin.
Empty out your trash or recycling bin. Go through your pens, your pencils, stuff you have around your room, even your clothes. Throw anything out that you don’t have or don’t need or that doesn’t fit you.
Clear off your desktop.
Put your desk/work area in order. Put your pens in jars, your markers and pencils in other jars. Sort your papers. Clear any clutter away. Put anything that doesn’t belong on your desk away.
Uninstall programs you don’t need.
Sit down at your desk. Make a list of things you’ve been doing recently, habits you’ve picked up. Write down a rough approximating of the times you’ve been waking up and going to sleep. Write down the media you’ve been consuming. Take a guess at your hours of screen time per day. Circle everything you don’t want to keep doing. Write it down in a list. Empty out your school bag. Sort out whatever’s inside. Make a list of everything you’re gonna need. Check off things you have. Plan out how to get things you don’t.
Install updates.
Write down your ideal sleep schedule. Write down habits you want to get into. Write down recipes you want to try. Make a list of things you want to implement.
Defragment your disk.
No, really, defragment your disk. Literally. Delete all temp files. Digitally declutter your devices. Clear out your camera roll, your Google Drive, your literal desktop. Repeat all the steps above- but literally.
Close any open tabs.
Clean up any small, nagging tasks. Sweep the floor, feed the cat, wipe down the kitchen counter.
Plan your next weeks out.

Welcome to the season of blood, sweat and tears! (if you’re a kpop fan, I love you) As the dreaded exam season approaches, we’re all becoming anxious about if what we’re doing is enough for our exams or that we’re not going to pass and that our lives are a failure. Take a deep breath.
We’ve got some tips on a good way to approach your exams which can hopefully help you feel more at ease. (We’ve even put times on them!)
One Month Before:
Make sure you have your notes written or re-written. If you haven’t finished your course yet, ensure that you save time to get those notes memorized as well.
If you don’t have a study group, try and form one! They’re a great way of keeping each other on track while the exam season approaches.
Look on your exam board for past paper questions and mark yourself against mark schemes and examiner reports. You can also take them into your teachers to get marked as well. It’s important that they’re done under timed conditions, it will help you get used to writing them in the exam.
One Week Before:
Make smaller, concise notes such as flashcards or a quiz to remember the fundamentals and get friends/family to quiz you.
Focus on the topics you find hardest, rather than starting at the beginning of your course.
Ensure you have a calendar prepared for when your exams are, it will be a lifesaver to know the days you can use to revise.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL EQUIPMENT, if not make sure you buy it now. Chances are they may not have something you need in your exam.
Make sure you are regularly taking breaks, please don’t forget to take care of yourself when your exam season starts.
The Night Before:
This is your ideal time to panic. Flush it all out!
Don’t cram, it will fly out of your brain faster than you try to put it in.
Drink some tea/coffee and get an early night’s rest. Put on your favourite netflix show, make yourself feel comfortable. It will help your nerves in the morning.
Again, make sure you have your equipment. If you’re missing something, your local supermarket will be open in the morning to run to.
The Morning Before:
Eat breakfast and try to get to school earlier than you usually do.
Check your equipment again, make sure you have everything for your exam.
Pop in to see your teacher for some last minute words of wisdom and encouragement. They also can remind you of something you might struggle on during the exam.
Go over some last minute info that you think you’ll need for your exam. Don’t break out all your notes.
PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO PEE. (Cool story: I sat through my Religious Studies GCSE with a full bladder, wasn’t fun!)
During The Exam:
Listen to what your chief examiner is saying before the exam begins. They could say something vital to the exam such as an error that needs correcting.
CHECK YOUR EQUIPMENT IF YOU HAVEN’T. This is probably your last chance to get something without disturbing your exam time. Layout all of your equipment on the table so that it’s easily accessible.
Take deep breaths, take a cool mint and drink some water. It’s vital that you are somewhat calm before the exam begins.
Focus on the questions you find easiest first. It will help you build confidence with the exam and think about harder questions as you go through.
Writing assessment objectives and essay plans next to questions can help as you can cross them off as you write.
If you’re working with time constraints, make sure to keep an eye on the time once in a while. Otherwise, don’t bother looking at the clock.
If you do find yourself getting stressed and it affects your reading of the question, you’re allowed to ask an invigilator to read the question for you.
Whether it’s GCSEs or A Levels, we wish you the best of luck with your exams and we know what you’re going through too. We can all do this!
