plot things
Hello, lovely people!
I have added some plots to my ever-growing plots page. (< Click it. You know you want to) I know that the event things are going on, but that just means we have plenty of time to properly plan out all of the beautiful details before you’re ready to begin! If you like one of the plots you see or want to brainstorm something new, like this post or message me ^^!
{ the future freaks me out; w&h
@ahyoungnx
“I see a chilly, sour treat in your future.”
Suran was at the front of the line, terribly entitled and shamelessly inconsiderate to anyone else who had been waiting. The whispers and low groans of complaint would have made anyone second guess their selfish decision, but Suran was confidently correct even in all her wrong. Not that she should feel an ounce of guilt by it all because she was justified in her own right (and there was no way she was waiting in line beneath a beating sun still shining strong, even nearing 6pm).
So she pushed through anyway; gentle in her movements, falsely sweet in her smiles.
The booth itself was impressive, even in all its cheesy fortune-telling decoration. Suran loved it and stared in awe at the fake relics and adorning crystals. Her fingers brushed the velvety cloth (irresistible, the sensation) and strange tassels. The dark tone of the entire booth spoke directly towards the mutant’s interests.
Kim Ahyoung, decorating queen of Suran Quinn’s heart.
The chair slid across the floor as she took a seat across from her best friend, passing the plastic cup of shaved ice towards her. “It’s not as sour as your soul or as chilly as the love of your life – that’s me – but it’s delicious still.”
The ice was blended with all of Ahyoung’s favorite flavors; tart and colorful, mixed in all its brilliant hues. Suran, part time master of frozen sculptures and wicked designs held a lot of pride over the icy skull residing at the bottom of the cup – or at least she did, anyway. The contents, half eaten, didn’t nearly resemble the structure she’d created just ten minutes ago.
But she’s still without fault in all her actions, exuding innocence even in the face of treat stealing. The ice was perfectly chilled and that in itself was a good enough gift.
“Ukobach,” she nods a greeting towards the small demon, always quick in acknowledging him any time she was in his presence. Of all her best friend’s demonic allies, she’d taken a liking to him the most (which is only funny when considering the dramatic difference in each of their powers). “I bet you’re working harder than our dark summoner.”
A tease. She couldn’t resist.
The crystal ball was alluring, even in its slightly tawdry appearance. Suran’s face was inching closer and closer, eyes fixated on her growing, distorted features in the glass. There was oddly great entertainment in replicating snapchat filters within a crystalized sphere.
“What do I have to do to receive my fortune?” Back straightened, palms flat along the velvet cloth. “Predict the success in my heroism I know I’ll have or that my ex will have a shit time finding someone better than I was.”
There was a line.
In the time that Ahyoung had been in her velvet fortress, she had been hugely successful at keeping people away from the fortune-telling abomination that she had been so proud of- although she had been more proud of the decorations than the actual job itself. She was merely spouting rude nonsense while lounging in front of her crystal ball, her delicate fingers playing with the various stones she had arranged on the tablecloth. If she hadn’t of had her eyes set on a life of demon-conquering and saving the world (or something), she would have been an interior designer to the stars. Dream big.
But then the true savior and forgiver of sins’ voice was heard amongst the chatter, The Suran Quinn, which made Ahyoung quickly move from her slouching position, automatically alert.
The two were immediately shut off from the world, the groans from those that had been patient disappearing into nothingness as the summoner’s gaze fell upon the crown jewel, the shaved ice she had so greatly lusted for and had refused to purchase; beautiful women did not pay for their own treats. Or as Suran would have put it; good husbands blah blah blah. It was truly a shame that the two of them were interested in men, but also a shame that two of the most interesting (read: proud) women in the institute just happened to be close enough to wear matching flower accessories- though Ahyoung had regretted her choice in a bracelet, as the stems were rough against her skin.
“I see you tried to make some art for me,” she squinted at the treat, lips pursed as she tried to make sense of the pattern- or changes in flavor. “I’m just glad you didn’t eat the whole thing before you got to the tent. I’m proud of you, my frostbitten princess,” eager hands grabbed at the cup, a spoonful of the shaved ice finding its way to her mouth with frightening speed while the both of them shifted their attention to Ukobach, who stood quietly in his boyish form, eyelashes still burning from the last fortune.
“Suran,” the demon bowed his head to the master of the frozen treats, hardly showing the disappointment on his face- the disappointment that there was only one cup of shaved ice in the tent, and Ahyoung rarely shared. “I’ve been on fire for over an hour, so I’m considering this a break. Thank you for visiting, Lady of The Cold”
“Don’t listen to him. I’ve been working as hard as ever!” Ahyoung snapped as she waved a hand at her minion, annoyed at his fondness for her friend. “Now please focus on the crystal ball, my dear. Madame Faye will show you the secrets of your future,” the words were elongated and her expression changed, eyes fixed on the prop in front of her as if she were looking through it to another realm. “Please ignore the crunching of ice while I do it though,” a pause in her facade; it was hard to resist sour treats.
The dim space was filled with light as Ukobach’s hands were engulfed in flames, his limbs moving gracefully as he waved them in front of himself, the movements reflecting off of the crystal beautifully. A light hum vibrated in the demon’s throat, filling the room with the eery sound as Ahyoung’s digits hovered over the smooth surface of the orb as if she were calling on the spirits. They had really perfected their routine.
“I see something troubling in my crystal ball, Suran. Would you like to know what that something is, truth seeker?”
Mystics & Crystals [Ahyoung and Mingyu]
Short manicured fingernails tapped at the table, the sound muffled by the thick velvet tablecloth that, in Ahyoung’s opinion, tied the tent together. Each piece of the decor, from the crystal ball down to the tassels that hung in the doorway, were important to the ambiance- they added a much-needed touch of theatrics for those that fell short of mystic. While Ahyoung found herself other-worldly, few beings from the dark realm could see the future, and even less (zero to be exact) were willing to share their visions with the mortal. Because of this, the summoner’s words were purely deceit accompanied with fiery sparks, courtesy of one of her most loyal demons, Ukobach.
One by one, people came to be humored, smiling faces asking to be told their fortunes, the glittering expectation evident in their eyes. You will find your true love? Your week will be filled with luck? That’s what they want to hear. Most people were predictable, as was Ahyoung- she had no plans to give anyone the satisfaction of a good fortune.
Word must have spread fast throughout the festival, or maybe it was a spell of good luck that kept the line short for the majority of Ahyoung’s shift at the fortunetelling booth. The dramatic change in patrons’ demeanor after their few minutes of ‘special effects’ and the brunette’s husky tone giving a less-than-positive fortune had people thinking twice about the attraction, giving the faux oracle more time to herself in the comfy atmosphere to reap the benefit of the volunteer opportunity; the benefit of being seen by her superiors for her selfless contribution to the festival.
“Come. Come get your fortune, seekers of the unknown,” Ahyoung’s voice fell flat as the words came out. At least she was trying.
