when the pair approached the small cafe jongin remembers his manners and holds the door open for aiden. it was an attribute of his, the younger trained thoroughly by his mother for years until he got the hang of politeness. itās nothing like the cafe he works in, less broad and a lot quieter. he thinks it suits aiden. the stares that jongin attracts makes his shoulders draw in and hunch, so he makes his way to a small two-person table by the window and sits quickly. in this light, jongin could see aidenās face more clearly like he did earlier and he really thinks he could get used to this. sitting across the table over a cup of coffee from his college crush.
"yeah, yeah. you know what i mean." aiden rolls his eyes, a hint of amusement in his voice at the way the other boy reacts to his statement. although it was quite endearing, he knew he shouldn't poke fun at jongin's age since he might take it the wrong way. he knew from experience, being the youngest of three boys had its negatives. the sudden outburst of excitement from the taller startles aiden, and causes him to stare at him with the slightest look of confusion. "no...? is it something really important i'm missing out on? i don't understand." even though aiden was definitely one who was fond of spending time in the kitchen, baking was something he wasn'tĀ exactlyĀ the best at. through countless attempts at trying to get the most perfect cupcakes, that is the only sweet he is any good at preparing.
the smaller male couldn't help but to allow his gaze to fall on the golden skinned boy beside him, and analyze the way the rain-soaked fabric clung to his torso in some sense of awe. he can barely make out the dips and curves of muscle that are concealed behind the shirt, and he can't help but to add the boy to a list of things he'd like to photograph in his free time. aiden is snapped from his reverence by the sound of the other boy's laughter, and he wonders if he's been caught staring. hesitantly, he raises his gaze to meet childlike eyes that are crinkled in a smile. pursing his lips after the comment, he looked down at where the jacket fell and indeed it stopped just above his knees and made him seem even smaller than he already was. raising his hand, the slightly flustered boy hit the other on the arm with the back of his hand. "shut up." he murmured quietly, his cheeks going pink at the comment that jongin thought he was cute.Ā cute?Ā absolutely not.
aiden smiles slightly as jongin scurries to open the door for him-- he was always a sucker for those with manners. "thank you." he spoke simply as he stepped inside, pushing the hood off of his head. even though he was been there many times, without realizing, he stays rather close to the taller boy as they make their way toward the table in the back. the familiar scents that surround them make the whole thing less nerve-wracking. taking a seat across from jongin, he's somewhat taken by surprise at the reality of the other's looks. he's much more handsome than what aiden had originally thought, but he wasn't complaining at all as he heard the quiet whispers of the girls to the right of him, gushing over how attractive the taller was. the elder's eyes gaze over a sharp jawline and full lips before finally speaking. "do you want to go first or should i? you know, because someone as to watch the table."Ā

glancing at aiden, the younger male smiled unconsciously with a glint in his eyes. his hair was already soaking wet, but the light jacket he had on surprisingly kept most of his upper body dry. their close proximity left jongin able to feel aiden beside him, and just as their arms grazed against each other, he couldnāt help but notice the latter shivering. one was wet, and the other was cold. jongin couldnāt have that. āum, aiden? d ā do you want my jacket? iāll be okay, i donāt get cold andā¦ā he murmurs shyly and begins to shrug his jacket off.Ā
"since the 11th grade, hm? that wasn't that long ago. since, you know, you're young." aiden caught himself before he slipped at the tongue and came off as rude when he was trying his best to be the complete opposite. he knew that he had that tendency even when he didn't even mean to, and in most cases, it's the reason why he's not really friends with a lot of people. "you'd eat anything, huh? but, uh, yeah. i'm pretty sure they have both soupĀ andĀ puff pastries. whatever those are..." he was never particularly good at keeping up a conversation, but he was definitely trying his best in this situation.
walking so close to the younger boy, aiden could feel heat radiating off of him and he would be lying if he said he didn't want to be enveloped in jongin's arms. solely for the purpose of staying warm, of course. gripping his umbrella tighter, he pulled his lower lip into his mouth out of habit before he heard his name being called by the taller male once their arms brushed. immediately after the offer, aiden's expression shifted to something along the lines of shock. "y-you don't--" the elder's sentence was cut off by the sight of jongin removing the jacket from his body, and his expression began to soften due to the other's sheer concern for him. "thank you." he murmured rather shyly, handing the younger male the umbrella before tugging the jacket on and zipping it up.
now clad in the other's jacket that was much too big for his small stature, aiden was surrounded by the scent of jongin. baby powder and patchouli-- a scent he could get used to. they continued to walk side by side before aiden noticed the eatery in the distance. "there it is."

not my day, friday
sehun turned around to face the customer as he was supposedly called, and once he heard why, he felt embarrassment and some kind of shame wash over him at that. he walked quickly over, clinging onto the tray. āiām- iām so sorry, i apologizeā, sehun stuttered, feeling his ears burning from his mistake as he cleared his throat. āiām sorry- iāll bring you the right order right away.ā he placed the mug on the tray and hurried back to the counter. he did a double check back there before anxiously asking the barista to make a new order because sehun accidentally read the order numbers wrong. he also mentioned that thereās a chance that the other order might have to be redone too, because it was also taken to a wrong table. after a few annoyed looks and a bit of rant, sehun got the white chocolate mocha and hurried back to the other boy. with an apologetic smile, sehun repeated his earlier actions and placed the mug down. āhere, now it should be right. iām sorry again, that was entirely my fault.āĀ sehun wasnāt very talkative, but he has a huge need to explain himself quite often. especially if he screws up. āi hope you enjoy. iām sorry again.ā he also has an undying need to keep apologizing like the karma would get him if he didnāt make sure that he really was sorry for anything that happened ā much like now. sehun hoped this guy was as nice as he looked like. it still got sehun nervous and shaky from embarrassment.
aiden could physically feel the embarrassment radiating off of the younger server, and he tried his best to reassure him with some sort of smile. he never really appreciated those who were rude to people that worked in the serving industry, so he always attempted to be as nice as possible. "no, no, it's alright. thank you." aiden spoke softly once again, since he is quite the soft spoken person to begin with. the older boy watched as the server made his way back to the counter, barely making out the words that were exchanged between the two.
off to his left, he hears a girl complaining to a different server about her drink being much too sweet and not what she ordered. it clicks to him, that she could have been presented with his drink and how dare she insult something as great as that. he rolls his eyes and rests his chin in his hand as he waits for his new drink to be returned.
a few moments later, when the new mug is set in front of him, aiden lifts his gaze to the server and displays yet another friendly smile. "thank you. it's okay, don't stress about it." as he wrapped his fingers around the mug, he arched a brow up at the other boy. "i've never seen you around. are you new? i'm aiden, by the way."
glancing to his left, he saw the other girl glaring in their direction as she sipped what seemed to be her new drink. but he decided not to say anything to spare the boy of feeling any worse than he already seemed to feel.

jongin rushed toward the older on his tiptoes and tapped his shoulder gently. he broke out into a smile instantly, the corners of his eyes wrinkling as aiden turned around. āhello, remember me?ā he immediately cringed after asking the question.
the sight of the other boy's smile was rather surprising to aiden. his teeth were so straight and white, bright enough to replace the sun in the gloominess of the day. it took a few seconds for aiden to register that the taller boy had spoken to him, because he was too busy admiring his facial structure. "yes, i remember you. your name is jongin and you don't like when i call you freshie."Ā aiden turned on his heel and stated a simple, "follow me," before he began walking along the path rather quickly.
after a few moments of silence, aiden brought his gaze up to jongin's still soaked stature. "why don't you have an umbrella? you're gonna get sick..." he trailed off, noticing he was voicing concern for the younger male that he hadĀ justĀ met. it wasn't that he didn'tĀ wantĀ to be nice to the first year, it's just he didn't want the other to become attached to him, or vice versa. he had spent his last year in a rather sweet solitude and he wasn't exactly looking for anything other than his own company.
"there's a bakery not too far from here that i know, it's pretty good. they have good sandwiches. you know, if you like those. i don't really care but..." the shorter male's voice trailed off again, this time because his body was racked with a shiver due to the frigid wind that begin to blow. and it was quite an understatement to say he was under-dressed for the circumstances.
