Food For Thought | Sophia & Liam

“Hello, friend!” chirped Sophia as she spotted Liam Walters walking through the door.  That was one of Sophia’s favorite things about her job: so many of the people she saw she regarded as friends.  She supposed not everyone could say that about their job: that it could also double as a social engagement, but for Sophia it most certainly did.  But, then, she supposed Ka’ala attracted a certain sort of person, given how steeped in Magnuson business it was.  Even Sophia knew, though, that there were friends of the Magnusons (like Liam, for example), and then there were friends of the Magnusons.  

Friends of the Magnusons looked and acted much like friends of the Magnusons, except that they liked to sit in little clusters far away from the other customers, (the darker and more inaccessible the better,) spoke in hushed tones until falling silent, altogether, when anyone would approach, and when they’d come in once, Sophia never, ever saw them again.  They also tipped heavily for these privileges and, more than once, she had been handed a hefty check for her “discretion,” even when she hadn’t heard much at all.  (They explained that their line of business was a very completive so even the breath of those few words strung together could doom their project and Sophia agreed she didn’t want to do anything to mess that up.)  

As good as the money was, friends of the Magnusons creeped Sophia out a little bit, and so it made her all the more happy to see friends of the Magnusons walk in.  Friends of the Magnusons could be jerks, (or they could be nice!) but they were at least people like everyone else.  People like Liam, Sophia was glad to admit to herself, clearly had nothing to hide.  Besides, he was one of the few people who seemed to take a genuine interest when she talked about the gritty details of things like her sister’s pregnancy appointments with the Magnusons, and it was nice to be able to chat a little about that without feeling that she was boring people.

Coming over to his table with her notepad, pencil, and coffee pot, she smiled at him as she turned over the mug on the table and, without question, poured the coffee in it.  Whatever he else he may or may not want, he’d want that.  “How’re you, tonight?  It’s beautiful out this evening, isn’t it?  I love autumn sea breezes, a little cooler.  Not,” she added with a grin.  “That things ever get that cool in Hawai’i, but still, I like it.  Oooh!  What do you think about our Halloween decorations?  We just put them up, like, five minutes ago.  You’re the first to see them!”  Bat bunting decorated the windows and on each table sat a mini pumpkin with a different face.  “Do you like pumpkin carving?  It was always one of our family traditions, growing up, always makes me happy.  The holidays are always a little brighter than regular days, don’t you think?”

Liam liked coming here. 

The food was good and the service was great; but it was more than that that kept him coming back. It was often a meeting ground for those involved in the Magnuson crime ring. They masqueraded as business associates (and he supposed, in a sense, they certainly were), but Liam knew that there purpose there was much more sinister than they let on. 

But in addition to the possibility of learning more of the Magnuson dealings, he liked interacting with the staff. It was a refreshing change of pace to talk with them (even as Liam Walters) after spending so much time with the Magnusons and their friends. He’d let his hatred for them wash over him, so that was all he ever saw. He didn’t see the good that was there: he couldn’t. And if he let himself, would he be able to continue to do what he was doing? Could he live with what he had already done? 

He smiled up at Sophia as she came over to his table. She was especially friendly and chatty and, as such, was one of his favorite servers here (it was an added bonus that her little sister just happened to be carrying Roman’s baby). 

“A little hungover still, but nothing some coffee won’t solve.” He replied with a grin, taking the freshly poured cup. 

In truth, he wasn’t hungover at all. He’d had a drink or two last night, but mostly he’d only pretended to keep up with Roman and the other’s. He’d often get the most information that way: when Roman was drunk and thought he was, too. 

He took a look around, as she mentioned the decorations, “Yeah. Nice.” He looked at the pumpkin at his own table. “This guy looks like he’s giving me the side eye,” He teased. “Um, you know, I’ve never actually done that. Carved a pumpkin.” He pointed a finger at her, “And I’ve only admitted that because I’m trusting that you aren’t going to make me do it now.”

So Liam is basically the Emily Thorne of this RP! ;DD He’s here to take down the Mangusons literally at any cost and he’s gonna get to them through Roman and make them all pay for the murder of his dad (so that’s fun!) 

Anyway, since his connection with them is through Roman alone, he definitely has gone through pains to make sure that they developed a close (and seemingly genuine) friendship (when irl none of it is real!). And .... I feel like Liam might actually like Roman as a person irl  if he put aside the fact that he’s a Magnuson, but he CAN’T look beyond that and tbh he hates him so much but acts like he loves him and IT’S A GREAT TIME. #facepalm 

Also, he legit had an affair with his wife behind Roman’s back in order to eventually blackmail her into giving up info on Roman, so that’s also happening w/o Roman’s knowledge haha

Anyway, to his face Liam is trying to be a great friend and he def is always trying to get Roman to go out and have fun and relax and he’s all about making sure that his friend is happy and having a good time ... when in reality, he’s just trying to get him to talk about everything!

So Liam has been investigating the Magnusons on his way to taking them all down! He’s come into their lives by becoming friends with Roman and I feel like they’ve been good friends for about a year or so? Anyway, I think he was super focused on building a genuine relationship with Roman so he could slowly get info from him (and eventually all of the other Magnusons as well). Anyway, I feel like Liam assumes that all of the Magnusons at least know about ~that side business and that most (if not all) of them have some hand in it. 

And so yeah, he’s not gonna be weird about it, but he def wants to hang out with any and all of them whenever he can! and he certainly thinks that, next to roman, rita might know the most since she was legit married to elias and he’d be interested to try to discover any of that she might let slip hahah ... 

uhhhhh, so idk what rita would think of liam though??? he definitely pretends to be a playboy/partier type who def is probably a bad influence on roman haha and likes to take him out drinking and partying whenever he can .... also I feel like he would probably flirt with rita? i mean, def harmlessly like he wouldn’t wanna rock the boat with elias haha (or roman by flirting with his step mom lol) but I feel like liam walters can’t resist a pretty face

This Feeling | Liam & Eva

It was refreshing: these rare moments when Liam Stark and Liam Walters could agree. Neither of them particularly wanted to be here at the Yule Ball, but here he was, all the same. 

To Liam Walters, this sort of evening was tiresome: the only real appeal was what might come afterwards. Perhaps he’d leave with a pretty girl on his arm and, if not, he and Roman would go out together, somewhere, and drink the rest of the night away. For Liam Stark, he’d rather be not be at a formal event hosted by the Magnusons (even if it was for charity). 

Liam Watlers’ first stop that evening, before even seeking out Roman, was to the bar. He was surprised to see it unmanned. He supposed the bartender must have had to go in the back to get supplies, but whatever the reason, Liam Walters was not a patient man when it came to having his liquor and so he stepped behind the bar himself and poured himself a scotch. 

He was about to move on when he saw Eva Magnuson approaching the bar and, as he was never one to pass up a conversation with a Manguson (especially a potentially tipsy one), he stood his ground. 

“Looks like your brother doesn’t know how to hold a party,” Liam teased, “I was forced to serve myself,” He smirked, putting down his own glass. “What can I get for you? It’s never too early to start.”

Okay, so I think that Roman was just his main target/focus for a long time. He didn’t wanna rush things b/c he’s taken a long time to get to this point and he doesn’t want to do something impulsive and mess it all up. And so for a long time, I think he was just solely invested in developing a genuine friendship with Roman and, from there, I think he meant to slowly spread to the rest of the family. 

ANYWAY, I feel like liam loves to tease his friends and so he would probably ~jokingly agree with xander on that point and be like “ur right he is a total loser ... i just hang out with him b/c it makes me look cooler by comparison!”

as far as how he approaches xander, I think w/ the other siblings, he def wants to get to know all of them, but he doesn’t wanna be pushy or weird about it so he just tries to find time and naturally start convos with them whenever. Annnd I feel like xander it probably is when like he and roman are out drinking and they run into xander and if he sees xander drinking alone at the bar or something he’ll come up to him and just start a convo and see where it goes

BROTHER FROM ANOTHER <3333333  Tom was so!!!!!! there!!!!! for him during that time alkdsjfkljsd  And always there to reel him back in when he feared Liam was going too far off the deep end and being all ‘is this what your dad would want? we both know it’s not’ or talking him into seeing the reasonable side of things.  I do think there were other times, too, when Liam wasn’t going to be talked out of it and Tom was like ‘fine if you’re doing something stupid you know im doing it w you’ (but he def tried to talk him out of it first hahaha)

NOOOOOOOO ughhhhh that’d make Tom so sad to hear!!!!!  He just wants good things for Liam <333333 and to hear that he despairs of it would just make him so!!!! sad!!!!! Like this is super draining but he’s also OBSESSED and he can’t stop until he done but he also isn’t sure what life will be like w/o this task that he’s literally shaped his whole life to accomplish .... like he both wants peace, but he also fears it??? like who he will be when he doesn’t have that goal? and will he even be able to live with himself? b/c he knows that he’s gonna do everything in his power to take down the magnusons b/c failure is not an option but what if the ends don’t justify the means??? so yeah ... he has a lot of struggles lol and he is also That Guy™ who doesn’t deal well with his emotions and keeps them inside and represses the hell out of them and just pretends that “Everything’s fine.” when everything is NOT fine

haha yeah def part of liam wanted that life too but he knew he couldn’t handle it and harper deserved so much better and he just had to let all of that go and I do think that he’s said to tom that he might revisit that possibility when he’s finished but even he knows that he won’t and whatever he had with harper is over :( 

ALSO, so Liam Stark and Tom are obviously BFFs for life but .... I feel like he may have a different relationship w/ Liam Walters lol. I can see where they might still be friends but I can also see where they wouldn’t??? So like ... Tom is a photographer, yeah? Does he ever do ~social~ things? Like does he photograph the Magnusons and, if so, does he ever catch them when they are partying or whatever??? HAHAH omg!!! Okay, so unlike Roman, I do think that Liam does actually like Eli a lot and would be way more likely to actually be friends with him IRL than Roman, lol. He def wants to get along with Eli, so he’ll do everything he can to make that happen -- just because he doesn’t wanna cause any drama in Roman’s life (at least while he’s there to gather intel to y’know ultimately destroy it). 

I think Liam looks at the Blacks and sees a good and decent hardworking and kind family that only deserves the best and basically a family that has a huge potential to get caught up more in the Magnuson world than they should given all of their overlapping relationships w/ them, haha, and Liam def wants to make sure that they don’t. 

That being said, idk what Eli would think of Liam Walters???

ahhhh omg hahah tbh I do think that there was part of liam that really, really wanted that, too, tbh but he’d lied to harper from day #1 and was just using her at first and she also didn’t even know his real name and the person she was with was kinda half liam stark/half liam walters (which isn’t great for a relationship) pLUS what’s more I think he knew that getting his revenge would always be more important and it would just constantly nag at him until it was over and done with so he knew that even trying to have that life at that point in his life, would just end in failure

I feel like they’ve been friends since like they were really tiny and tom has been there for liam every. single. step of the way. and tbh idk what liam would have done w/o him!!!!!!! I can also see tom having talked him out of doing super rash and impulsive things when they were teenagers and liam had just lost his dad and was just really dealing with a LOT.

but he has been liam walters for so long, it is becoming harder and harder to tell where one ends and the other starts

has literally been working his entire life towards the goal of revenge against the magnusons

and honestly he has gotten to the point in his life where he isn’t sure what he would do after he’s gotten his revenge 

part of him thinks it might just be best if he takes himself out with the lot of them 

would love to have a simple, normal, happy life with a family of his own, but he isn’t sure he would know how 

liam walters is a charming and friendly, outgoing and personable 

he spends money like it’s water and is able to keep up with his bff roman and all of his playboy habits

he’s carefree and impulsive 

has gotten some info out of him by being his friend, but not as much as he’d like 

liam has been able to put up a wall when it comes to the magnusons 

he can pretend to care but he hasn’t let himself develop any feelings of sympathy towards them 

he isn’t sure if the others even know about what is going on with their family or not, but he is considering them all guilty until proven to be innocent 

 dated harper montgomery for a awhile for info, but w/ her it was different than the magnusons

actually got some genuine feelings for her

and ultimately he broke up with her b/c of it  

also it hurt b/c he knew that she liked him as liam walters and not liam stark

plus his life wasn’t something he wanted for her

liam stark is, in many ways, the opposite of liam walters

he’s calculated and precise 

he plans out everything and has a plan b-z incase plan a falls through 

he is extremely disciplined and focused

but he’s also kind and considerate

he wants the best for good people and for bad ones to pay for what they’ve done

wants justice in this world and will fight tooth and nail to get it

he would do ANYTHING!!!!! for his loved ones 

tbh sees red whenever they get hurt and his well thought out plans fade away and he just acts violently and impulsively!!!! (so caring for as few people as possible is the goal to avoid that) 

when he was 14 years old, his dad was killed by the mangusons

he had info on them and they were (rightly) afraid that he was going to expose them 

used to be super aggressive and brooding as a teenager when he was still dealing with his dad’s death 

acted out a lot and just felt super frustrated that his dad was taken from him and that NOTHING was done about it

used to get in trouble a lot and honestly never thought about what it was doing to his mom 

when he was twenty, his mom got sick and died and he realized that he’d wasted all of his time with one parent b/c he was angry about losing the other 

inherited all of his parent’s money and used it to prepare for the day when he could take the magusons down 

grew up with money but has never been especially spoiled or materialistic 

his parents still wanted to make sure that he knew how to work for what he wanted and not to expect that everything would always just fall into his lap 

tbh now he is a bit too focused and stubborn when it comes to his goals 

he has done some bad things for ~good reasons~ but is convinced that is for the greater good

still has no illusions about his own character and knows that he hasn’t always made the right decisions when faced with shades of gray

just hopes that he never becomes the same kind of person that he’s trying to destroy

has started to develop feelings for olivia!!!! 

honestly would love to be with her and there is a part of him that just wants to drop the charade and tell her everything and just try to start a normal!!! life!!!! and let everything go 

but he knows he can’t do that 

and he also knows that she deserves so much better than someone like him so instead he keeps his distance

is sometimes nice and friendly towards her and other times he tries to push her away for her own good so he’s just giving her a lot of mixed signals

and on top of the danger and the complications of being with him, she’s also a distraction and he can’t afford to have any more of those

he’s come here to do a job that he’s trained for his entire life and he’s going to see it through 

no matter the consequences
