“Oh.”

Morley’s utterance was a bit of a conundrum, a bland-sounding exclamation out of conscious error. He blinked nigh immediately, and adjusted his posture, leaning back in the chair and slumping his shoulders a little. Suddenly, it was a human seated across from Damian, not a machine, and the sudden change made everything all the more unsettling. A thoughtful expression meandered across his face.

“My apologies. I can assure you that is entirely not the case…”

A slight pause.

“…Is that a common occurrence? Do people do that?”

“ .. Look at me like a meal? Not normally, and especially not zose I’ve just met.” Of course he’d been oolged before, but nothing so closely by a prospective friend or business partner, in this case. Surely the man was a bit odd, but maybe he wasn’t quite this bad after a few conversations.. “ What are your physical strengths, Morely? Zis job requires a bit of muscle, not just your usual run and guns.. and it’s preferred you don’t kill ze target personally.”

The BLU was, indeed, quite odd. Even the way he spoke was a bit questionable, as his tone was too even to be natural. Even the fluctuations when they did occur also seemed... smooth, feigned. His face also seemed to fall into a very neutral and still expression when he listened to Damian's response- though this time it was almost as if he were making a conscious effort to blink every now and again, as if he didn't feel the need to do so on his own.

"I do not kill after-hours, it's a... personal policy. Tell me exactly what you need me to do, and I'll tell you if I am capable."

“ I’d like to ask why someone like you is even a killer.. and how good you are at.. doing zings without immediate reward.” When looking for help, look in high, unsuspecting places. Especially with men that appeared to be too perfect, a compliment to the mission ahead. “If you’re interested in extra work, somezing to improve both bases considerably.. I can offer one such as zat. But only if you’re willing to do somezing difficult.” His hands rested loosely on his knees,  locking eyes with Benjamin to hold his attention, however short that might be.

“I don’t believe I can supply you with an answer to your first question in one sitting.”

   Morley stated, with slight shrug of the shoulders. He’d taken to sitting up straight in his chair, back scarcely touching it at all. The Sniper folded his idle hands in his lap, and proceeded to lean forward.

“…If you were to provide me with a task, you will find it done.”

   He never once dropped eye contact, and in fact, hadn’t blinked since he first seated himself.

“ I’m glad to hear it.” Perhaps reflexively he was blinking for him, leaning away. None had held such a long stare with a spy, not even the enemy. This felt entirely too confrontational, and an unliked situation. “ I may ‘ave use for you yet. I’d prefer zat you didn’t look at me zat way.. I feel as zough you’re going to serve me on a plate for dinner.” Unsettling, eyes that felt so unrealistically open, and somewhere in his darker mind he wondered if they would pop out sporadically if he stared back long enough. His legs loosely crossed over themselves again,  straightening in his chair.

     If it were possible to jump out of his skin–

Morley would not attempt such a feat because he is a reasonable individual. Why on earth would anyone consider abandoning their stretchy flesh shield? Especially out of horror? Wouldn’t you want to burrow deeper into it for comfort?

   …Idioms confused this poor fellow.
