Jimin's POV:
The first thing I noticed when I woke up was the silence.
For weeks, every morning had started the same way—Jungkook sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands, trying to fight off another dizzy spell before he even attempted to stand. Sometimes he'd barely make it to the bathroom before getting sick again.
Today was different.
He stretched, blinked a few times, and simply... stood up.
I couldn't stop smiling.
"You're not dizzy?"
He looked at me, almost surprised himself, before shaking his head. "No."
"Really?"
He laughed quietly. "Really."
Relief washed over me so fast I almost hugged him then and there. Fourteen weeks. It had taken fourteen weeks for him to wake up and actually look like himself again.
"I told you it'd get better," I teased.
"You also told me that six weeks ago."
"...Ignore that part."
He grinned, rolling his eyes as he wandered over to his suitcase to grab some clothes.
Then I saw it.
As soon as he bent down, his whole face pinched. His hand shot instinctively to his lower back, and he froze for a second before trying to straighten up.
I was beside him before he'd even fully stood.
My hand settled gently against his back as I helped guide him upright.
"What?"
I just shook my head.
He was already defensive.
"What?"
"What's up with your back?"
"Nothing."
"Jungkook."
"It's just sore."
I gave him a look.
"Honestly."
He sighed dramatically before letting me steer him over to the edge of the bed.
I sat beside him, turning slightly so I could look at him properly.
"Honestly, Jungkook. How is it?"
"It's just sore." He shrugged. "That disc thing. It just hurts a bit when I bend."
I nodded slowly.
His old back injury hadn't bothered him much recently, but with rehearsals, travelling, and now pregnancy changing how his body carried weight, it wasn't surprising it had started complaining again.
Without saying anything else, I slipped my hand under the hem of his T-shirt and rested my warm palm against his lower back.
He relaxed almost immediately.
My thumb rubbed slowly from side to side while we talked.
"Better?"
"...A little."
I smiled.
"You need to stop picking the members up."
He looked offended.
"I don't pick them up that much."
"You carried Jin yesterday."
"He wanted a hug."
"You carried Tae—"
He blinked.
I laughed despite myself.
"And then you picked up Hobi after rehearsal."
"That one doesn't count."
"It absolutely counts."
He leaned into my shoulder with a small sigh.
"It didn't even hurt last night."
"No?"
He shook his head.
"It was just... fun."
His voice was quiet.
I knew what he meant.
The past few months had been brutal. Between the constant sickness, exhaustion, headaches, and barely being able to eat, he'd felt like he'd lost pieces of himself. Being able to mess around with the members again had probably made him feel normal for the first time in weeks.
I couldn't really blame him.
Still...
"I know." My hand continued its slow circles across his back. "But your body isn't exactly letting you get away with everything anymore."
He groaned.
"I hate when you're right."
"I know."
"I really hate it."
"I know."
He nudged my shoulder with his.
"You're smug."
"I am."
After another minute, I stood and reached down into the suitcase.
"The shirt you nearly broke your back trying to get."
He smiled sheepishly.
"Thanks."
He pulled it over his head while I folded away the clothes he'd left scattered across the room.
When he was finished, I smoothed a crease from the front of his shirt before taking his hand.
"Ready?"
He nodded.
"Yeah."
"You feeling okay otherwise?"
"Honestly..." His smile this time was brighter than it had been in weeks. "I actually feel... good."
Those words were enough to make my whole day.
I squeezed his hand as we walked out of the hotel room together, heading downstairs to meet everyone for breakfast before another busy day in London.
For the first time in what felt like forever, I wasn't worried about whether he'd make it through the morning.
I could just be happy that he finally had one where he felt like himself again.
Breakfast was louder than usual.
The second Jungkook walked into the dining room, everyone noticed.
He wasn't pale.
He wasn't quietly picking at dry toast.
He wasn't curled into himself with a hand pressed against his stomach.
Instead, he walked in smiling.
Taehyung looked up first.
"Whoa."
Jin blinked.
"Who are you and what have you done with Jungkook?"
Jungkook laughed, shaking his head as he reached for a tray.
"I just feel... normal today."
Seven pairs of eyes stared at him.
"Seriously?" Hobi asked.
He nodded enthusiastically.
"No dizziness this morning."
"None?" Namjoon asked.
"None."
The table erupted into relieved smiles and cheers.
I couldn't help smiling myself.
It had been so long since we'd seen him genuinely excited for a concert day.
As everyone stood to grab breakfast from the buffet, I caught the members' attention while Jungkook wandered a little further ahead.
"Guys," I said quietly.
They all looked over.
"No jumping on his back today."
A few confused expressions appeared.
"He bent over this morning and his lower back was really sore. His old disc injury's flared up a bit."
Immediately they all nodded.
"Oh," Taehyung said. "Got it."
"I wasn't planning to body slam him," Jin joked.
"Good."
"No piggybacks either?" Hobi asked.
"Definitely not."
"We'll behave," Namjoon promised.
By the time Jungkook came back balancing two plates, the conversation had already moved on.
He slid into the chair beside me.
Almost instantly, his right knee started bouncing.
Then the left joined in.
The table shook ever so slightly.
I looked over.
His eyes were darting around the room, taking everything in.
Fourteen weeks without his ADHD medication hadn't been easy. The sickness had masked some of the restlessness at first, but now that he finally had some energy back...
It was all bubbling straight to the surface.
He looked like he might explode with excitement.
I smiled to myself before gently resting my hand over his knee.
The bouncing stopped immediately.
He glanced at me.
"...Sorry."
I shook my head.
"It's okay."
His shoulders relaxed.
He took a drink before focusing on his breakfast instead.
About ten minutes later...
Crash.
Everyone looked up.
Yoongi stared down at the front of his hoodie, now soaked in orange juice.
The tipped-over glass rolled lazily across the table.
Jungkook's eyes widened.
"Oh my God."
He shot to his feet so quickly his chair scraped loudly across the floor.
"Hyung, I'm so sorry—I didn't mean to—I was just reaching for—"
He was already looking around for napkins, ready to sprint across the room.
Yoongi reached over and caught his wrist.
"Sit."
Jungkook froze.
"But—"
"I'm fine."
"It went all over you."
"I noticed."
Jungkook still looked horrified.
Yoongi gave him the same calm look he always did.
"Sit back down."
"...Hyung."
"I can get another hoodie."
His voice softened.
"You eat your breakfast."
Jungkook hesitated.
"I've got it."
Slowly, he sat back down.
"I feel awful."
"I know."
"It was so stupid."
"It was an accident."
Yoongi gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze before standing.
"Look after yourself first."
Then he wandered off toward the hotel staff to ask for some towels as if nothing had happened.
Jungkook stared down at his plate.
His appetite had vanished again.
I slid my hand over his where it rested on the table.
"Hey."
He sighed.
"I just can't do anything right."
I frowned.
"That's not true."
"I literally soaked Yoongi."
"You accidentally knocked over a glass."
He didn't answer.
I rubbed my thumb across the back of his hand.
"Did he get angry?"
"No."
"Did anyone shout?"
He shook his head.
"No."
"Because everyone knows it was an accident."
His shoulders slowly loosened.
"He told you exactly what he wanted."
"...To eat."
"So eat."
A tiny smile appeared.
"You're both bossy."
"I've learned from the best."
That earned me a quiet laugh.
He picked up his fork again, finally taking another bite.
By the time Yoongi returned wearing a fresh hoodie and carrying the world's most unimpressed expression about his now sticky trainers, everyone was joking again.
The awkward moment disappeared almost as quickly as it had happened.
Once breakfast was finished, we gathered our bags and headed out to the waiting vans.
London traffic was already building, and the stadium was waiting.
For the first time in weeks, Jungkook climbed into the van looking excited instead of exhausted.
Seeing that smile on his face made every difficult morning before this feel worth getting through.
By the time we reached the stadium, everyone had settled into the familiar rhythm of a concert day.
Equipment cases rolled through the corridors, staff hurried between dressing rooms, and somewhere in the distance I could already hear sound engineers testing the speakers.
Jungkook looked... happy.
Really happy.
He chatted to every stylist who walked past, laughed with the makeup artists while they worked on him, and somehow managed to have three different conversations at once while someone fixed his hair.
"You've got endless energy today," one of the artists laughed.
"I've been saving it for weeks," Jungkook replied with a grin.
I couldn't stop smiling every time I looked over at him.
Seeing him laugh so easily again felt like we'd finally turned a corner.
⸻
After hair and makeup were finished, everyone started gathering their things to head back to the dressing room.
Jungkook stood up from the chair.
His smile faltered.
It was tiny.
Most people probably wouldn't have noticed.
I did.
His eyes dropped to his stomach.
After a proper breakfast, plenty of fluids, and sitting down for over an hour, the bloating had become obvious beneath his clothes.
He rested a hand there for a second before quietly pulling his oversized jacket tighter around himself.
His shoulders curled in.
He didn't say anything.
I walked over.
"Come with me."
He looked confused.
"Where?"
"You'll see."
Instead of following the others, I gently guided him down the corridor and into one of the private bathrooms.
The door clicked shut behind us.
He looked at me.
"What?"
I leaned against the sink.
"You've gone quiet."
He sighed.
"It's stupid."
"It isn't."
He looked down again.
"I look so much bigger than I did this morning."
His voice was barely above a whisper.
"I know it's just bloat, but..." He tugged at the front of his jacket. "...look at me."
I stepped closer.
Without making a fuss, I gently rolled the bottom of his T-shirt up just enough to uncover his stomach.
It was noticeably rounder than it had been when we'd woken up.
Pregnancy hormones and a full stomach had done exactly what they always seemed to do lately.
I kept my hands where I knew he was comfortable with them, avoiding the areas around his hips that still made him self-conscious.
Instead, I rested both palms lightly over the centre of his stomach.
My thumbs moved in slow, gentle circles.
"Is it painful?"
He nodded.
"It just feels... tight."
"I'm sorry, baby."
I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around him carefully.
He melted into the hug almost immediately, resting his forehead against my shoulder.
For a minute neither of us spoke.
I simply rubbed slow circles across the middle of his back while he breathed.
Eventually I pulled back enough to look at him.
"What if we ask the others if anyone's got a pair of joggers you could borrow?"
He blinked.
"They'd probably feel nicer than these jeans."
He looked down at them before giving a small nod.
"...Yeah."
"More comfortable?"
"Definitely."
"Then let's do that."
A tiny smile returned.
"Thank you."
His hand found my back for a second, rubbing gently between my shoulder blades.
"How's your back?" I asked quietly.
He shrugged.
"It's okay."
I gave him a look.
"...Still aches."
"I thought so."
"We'll keep an eye on it."
He nodded.
Together we headed back to the dressing room.
The second we walked in, Jin looked up.
"What took you two so long?"
"I need a favour," I said.
"What sort?"
"Has anyone got a spare pair of joggers?"
Jin didn't even ask why.
He simply stood up.
"I've got some."
Within moments he'd dug a pair out of his bag.
"They'll probably be a little big."
"That's perfect," I said.
Jungkook smiled shyly.
"Thanks, hyung."
"No problem."
A few minutes later he disappeared to change.
When he came back, the loose joggers sat comfortably beneath his stomach instead of pressing into it.
He'd kept his jacket zipped right up despite the warm dressing room.
I knew why.
Even if nobody else commented.
He still felt self-conscious.
I didn't mention it.
Instead, when he sat beside me on the sofa, he naturally leaned into my side.
Almost without thinking, I slipped an arm around his shoulders.
He settled against me with a quiet sigh, still chatting animatedly with Taehyung and Hobi about the show.
As everyone talked around us, my free hand rested lightly over the front of his stomach through the soft fabric of his T-shirt.
I traced slow, gentle circles—barely enough pressure to be noticeable, just enough to be comforting.
Every so often I felt the tightness beneath my hand ease a little.
His breathing slowed.
His shoulders dropped from around his ears.
He kept talking, laughing at whatever story Hobi was telling, but every now and then he'd unconsciously lean a little more of his weight against me.
I smiled to myself.
He didn't need me to fix the bloating.
He didn't need me to make it disappear.
Right then, he just needed somewhere safe to lean until it passed.
So I stayed exactly where I was, my arm around him, my hand moving in slow, reassuring circles over his stomach while the dressing room buzzed with excitement around us.
And little by little, I watched the tension leave his face.
The final few minutes before soundcheck were always my favourite.
Everything suddenly became organised chaos.
Managers checked schedules one last time, stylists made tiny adjustments to our outfits, and staff hurried around clipping on microphone packs and helping us fit our in-ear monitors.
I stood still while one of the audio engineers secured my pack to the back of my waistband.
"Can you hear me?"
I tapped my in-ear.
"Loud and clear."
Across the room, Jungkook was having his own pack fitted.
He thanked the staff member with the same bright smile he'd worn all morning.
Seeing that smile still there made my chest feel lighter.
Once everyone was ready, we naturally drifted towards the entrance leading to the stage.
It had become our routine over the past few months.
Before every soundcheck...
One hug.
I opened my arms.
Jungkook smiled immediately.
"You started this."
