Chapin didn’t realize who it as at first. Not until she stepped in the elevator. “Hey!” Her smile was bright, and she seemed as friendly as their last encounter, when they first met. She remembered the girl telling her that it wouldn’t be long before she was free… She wondered what that felt like. “Congratulations! Enjoying the free life?” What a dumb question, Chapin, she thought. Of course she is.

“I am... Um...” She had been free for two weeks. In those two weeks she had been working as a dancer at the Chateau for a week. She barely made enough to keep her head above water and even then, Aine didn’t know if she’d have the points at the end of the month to pay rent. “It is very hard.”

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? If left to her own devices Aine would be optimistic, she is a glass half full kind of person. But experiences and fears led her to being pessimistic regarding her own treatment. 41. What is your greatest fear? Being made a slave again. 42. What are your religious views? Aine was raised Orthodox. But life experiences sort of make Aine feel like if there is a God, he’s a bit of a dick. 43. What are your political views? She doesn’t have any. 44. What are your views on sex? She’s only consensually had sex twice in her life, with the person she genuinely loved, Kyung won. Aine loves sex but wishes she could have more of it in the right context. 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? No. Never. Aine is a marshmallow and hurting someone or anyone is not okay. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing anyone could do? Taking away someone’s choice. 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? Absolutely. There is a person for everyone- she just doesn’t think there is someone for her. 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? If the people around you are happy, you have had a very successful life. 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? Aine’s whole live has been about repressing her true self to say what Masters, trainers and owners want her to say. She is finally starting to be who she truly is. 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? Aine is a pretty open minded person. 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? Drugs. Aine despises them because of her past experiences as a slave. They take away her inhibitions and she has described the feeling as “like her soul died”. 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? Someone she truly loved.

He swallowed hard, not exactly comfortable knowing there was a possibility he might be ..sent to another house like this, without having a choice? Did she have a choice? He didn’t quite want to know.. he thought. It was scary enough as was, he didn’t want to add any more to it. “Is.. is it b-better here? H-have you been here long?”

Aine leaned in to finish her eye makeup, evening her brows out. “This House is better than the other House, yes. I get food here, and my own bed. And coffee. And the nurse is very nice,” She nodded, switching pencils. “I do not really know? Maybe two years? Or one year? The years- they blur.”

Flora watched as Aine’s gaze fell back down to the pass in her hands. “601?” She repeated before nodding. “I can take you there.” Flicking the button for the sixth floor, Flora turned her attention back to the blonde when she spoke again. For a second, she didn’t know what she meant, and then she quickly realised. Years of being in the House, years of being a slave and being told what to do, and now all of this freedom? It wouldn’t be surprising if Aine felt overwhelmed. “Well,” Flora began, “I’m just about to head to the store if you want to come with me? You’ll need to stock your fridge and get some basic things. At least your first night will be a little more comfortable then.”

Aine waited, watching which button she pressed and waiting for them to go to that floor. She looked up at Flora, biting her lip. “I don’t have any money. I used all my points for this,” Aine looked down at the room key in her hand, turning it over. “And Miss Thorpe said I had to be careful not to be in debt?”

“Can I help you?” Roxanne had offered to cover someone else’s shift that evening due to sickness. She hadn’t exactly been pleased to be drafted in last minute, and had actually made plans to go out dancing with Lily, Rosalie and Annette. But she needed the money, so here she was.

The customer across the bar was clearly too mesmerised by the half naked dancers to notice she was speaking to them, so Roxanne cleared her throat loudly. “Uh, ‘scuse me. You ready to order?”

It was too strange to go into the Chateau by herself, not draped over the arm of a Mistress or one step behind a Master. The blonde waited at the bar, gaze flicking up to the dancers- that would be her soon, hopefully. According to people she needed a job, and she had to do what she was good at. This was what she was good at, almost exclusively. Aine looked over at Roxie when her throat was cleared- “Oh. Sorry, Roxie. I.. Er...” How did one ask? “Do you have jobs here?”

“You got a- oh!” Flora gasped with delight, assuming that Aine being given a room meant that she was finally free of the House. Honestly, she was always the last to find out these things from Darla. “God, I’m so happy you’re out of there, sweetie!” She was fussing and she knew she was, but her joy was too great to contain. “What number’s on the pass? I’ll help you look for the right room if you like?”

Aine blinked, really not knowing what to do with the woman’s enthusiasm. Truly, Aine was in shock. She didn’t know what had just happened for her to be free. She didn’t feel any different. She looked down at the pass, scrutinising it. “601?” She half asked, showing the pass to Flora for confirmation. “Oh, yes. That would be good.” Yes, going to her room would be a good start. But what then? “I don’t know what I’m meant to do.” Aine admitted quietly.

“Perfect!” Chapin smiled brightly. “None of it is really that hard. Except for the financing stuff, but my dad’s advisors and accountants deal with all of that, so no worries there.” Chapin had more interest in the creative part, anyways. “So, we’ll just set up a time and I’ll give you a tour of the station. There’s a mean little cafe in the building. They have the best cheesecake.”

Aine didn’t know what an advisor or an accountant was, so she supposed this would be a good fit. She really had no idea what most of Chapin was saying anyway. “Yes, that would be good. I am hoping to be free in maybe.. One week and a little bit? We could plan the time for then, yes?”

“Now that you mention it, a nice cold drink does sound wonderful right about now.. So does the AC.” Neil replied with a short laugh before turning towards the cafe. “Shall we go?”

Aine perked up, giving a rare, genuine smile. “Yes. Let’s go.” She said, still too nervous to walk ahead of anyone so walking just next to Neil now, slightly behind. She was doing her best to act normal. “The summer does not like me very much.”

Ellen looked at her perplexed for a moment “I mean uh, are we on the same page here an’ talking what I think we’re talkin’ about…But like, ya ain’t an object Aine. You gotta be into too, otherwise what’s the point really. I’m a writer, a romantic…I do it for the passion, the thrill…I ain’t gonna do nothin’ that makes a person all scared or crying…” she then paused, really hoping that was what the slave had been talking about.

Aine blinked, cocking her head. Neither of them were on a page. They were here, talking. She would never understand Americans. "I'm not going to be scared or crying," Aine said, raising her brows. At least, having done a mental assessment, Aine didn't think this woman would be into anything that would make her cry. "I /like/ pleasing people, Miss Ellen. I want to give you pleasure."

She smiled. The girl may not have had a lot of professional entertainment experience, but she had a fuck load of potential. “I need help sometimes with the radio show. Maybe we can talk about you coming by sometime. Even if you’re free, y’know? There’s always something to do.”

Aine blinked. She knew very little of radio- she’d heard it a few times but didn’t have any real understanding about the concept of the whole thing. But this woman was a friend now, and she said she needed help. “I am always happy to help. I am good at helping.” Aine nodded- that much was true.

A breathy laugh pushed past Henry’s lips at her preference for torrential rain. “Then I would suggest relocating to Seattle if you ever get the chance in the future. You’ll have all the rain you’ll ever need.” He was speaking from experience, having travelled there and hating it. “How much longer do you have out of that place?”

“Where is Seattle, Sir?” Aine asked, curiosity leaking into her voice as she cocked her head. A rainy place. Maybe that would be where she could go. “One more day, Sir. But I almost have enough points to be free.”

Maybe it was wrong - or there was something wrong with her - but she enjoyed watching the fights. It was practically arousing to her. Sitting at the bar, she hadn’t even looked at the person who approached, standing near her. Hearing the soft little voice, she sighed, turning her head, “Don’t call me that - Miss. I’m not one of them,” she tried to keep her tone even so the girl wouldn’t get scared. That was the last thing Jade could deal with right now. “Thanks,” she smiled a little, never considering he might take it out on the blonde girl. It was nothing new to her, winning at games like that. She’d been playing since before she could properly reach the table.

Aine didn’t like fighting. She didn’t like this Master. She didn’t like being here. Too much drinking and too much everything. The blonde looked up as she was given yet another order- don’t call this woman exactly what Aine had been trained to call her since childhood. Aine ducked her head, deciding it might be better just to not talk at all. She padded forward, closer to the bar, trying to get the man’s attention to get her Master’s drink. He paid her no mind. Sucking her cheek, Aine leaned forward, trying to get him again. “Sir- Sir, please. I need to order.”

Annette’s hand wrapped around the cup once it was slid over to her and she offered Aine a soft smile “don’t fret, I understand” she admitted, she didn’t want the young woman to think that she was offended by it.

Aine relaxed a little- not by much, though. She could never truly relax here. “Well, enjoy your drink, Miss. Maybe I will see you later?”

Flora had already run a few errands that morning, and was just popping back up to her apartment to pick up some bags so that she could head back out to do her food shop. She’d made a list before leaving the apartment so she didn’t forget anything. Henry had taken Finley for the day, meaning that she didn’t have to drag the poor kid around with her while she did all the essential things. She was sure he’d be grateful for that.

She stepped into the lift quickly, and almost didn’t recognise Aine when she glanced in her direction. “Aine, honey!” She smiled brightly, delighted to see her. “How are you?” Her attention was diverted to her and she didn’t even think about choosing her floor. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

Aine looked up from her pass, glad it was Flora who saw her first. Flora always smiled at her even though there was no reason to, and the blonde smiled back. “Oh, I’m... Good.” She said, though a little confused. “Yes. I just got a room? But I don’t know where I am meant to go.” Aine simply appeared dazed.

Ellen nodded “Oh yeah, go nuts…I mean I am not the kinda morning deal type, person…Thingy…So I may still be asleep, actually no I totally will be. I mean, I think as long as you come back here and stuff after- you won’t get in trouble and all that” The blonde agreed, she wasn’t going to stop Aine from enjoying herself whilst they shared the allotted time together. “I mean uh…You know…” she then cleared her throat, a little more nervous with the way Aine and her fell silent for a moment. “You cool?”

Aine nodded gently, “So long as you are happy for me to be out alone, Miss, I should be fine.” She said, giving a light smile. She was unphased at the concept of getting ‘in trouble’. The blonde cocked her head, setting the noodles aside, “I’m fine, Miss. I was just wondering if you wanted anything more. You did pay a lot of money for me.”
