The Heritage Commission of Saudi Arabia announced the discovery of several rock inscriptions dating to the earliest period of Islamic history. These inscriptions were found in Al Mahd Governorate within the Madinah region.
Among the most significant of these inscriptions is one bearing the name of the second Caliph Umar Ibn Khattab رضي الله عنه The inscription reads: “Allah is the guardian of Umar ibn al Khattab in this world and the Hereafter. There is no god but Allah.”
