– AINSLEY ;;
Ainsley grin widened as she kicked the girl lightly and playfully, “I don’t know,” she trained off looking around coping Mykaela’s fake thinking, “That’s hard, I do love ice cream. It’s always been good to me,” for effected she popped a spoonful into her mouth before falling into a fit of giggles. Ainsley wasn’t comfortable around most people, Mykaela was one of the only people she felt completely normal around. At her compliment Ainsley shrugged, “It’s no phasing through walls,” was all she said. She noticed the change in the other girls face as she spoke, she knew her question would send her in to protective mom mode. She blinked a few times her eyes drifting towards the door as she thought of the world outside the walls, “I wish it didn’t scare me as much as it does,” she sighed before turning back to meet her eyes, “Thanks though, you always know what to say,” she smiled warmly, “And you’re right we’re still here after all these years.”
mykaela could only feign a shocked and almost offended expression as she looked in the opposite direction from ainsley. “i’m hurt, ains, truly. you know – i thought we really had something special, but i get it,” she shook her head teasingly, finally opening the tub of ice cream and taking a big scoop out before popping it into her mouth. almost like those bad movies they had managed to sneak in every now and then where a broken-hearted girl, usually crying over a boy would eat her sorrows in chocolate ice cream. “yeah but you can make it snow! walking through walls gets boring after a while, i mean once you’ve seen every place once, it loses its touch. but snow – you win, girl.” her gaze darted to the pots once again, marvelling in the frozen surroundings of the tubs. “you have every right to be scared, it’s normal. heck, i’m pretty sure you could ask someone like john and he’d tell you the same thing,” sometimes she couldn’t help but let her thoughts drift to the ifs and buts that their lives could have been. what if they had the privelege of just living a normal life, and not having to worry about the weight of the world on their shoulders. but she wasn’t about to let that get in the way, not right now. “yeeeeah,…i think the ice cream said more than me if we’re being honest,” she took a spoonful out of ainsley’s quickly with a smug smirk plastered on her lips.
Ainsley playfully scoffed shaking her head, "If it was anything other then ice cream, you know you'd be first," she teased following suit eating the ice cream. She smiled thinking about how they probably looked, two small girls crowded together on a bed gorging them self with tubs of ice cream. It was like something out of one of the cliche rom coms they showed on movie night. "You make it sound like it's much cooler then it is," she bite her lip, "I can generate a rain cloud and chill ice cream, big whoop. There are others here with much cooler abilities. Not that I'm complaining, they'll be the ones they shift off and out of her first," she laughed nervously. Despite it all, Ainsley didn't mind have a lesser power then others in the facility nor did she mind being on team charlie rather then a higher team. "See that's why ice cream is my number one," she smirked at the girl hugging the tub closely to her body ignoring the chill it gave her. Suddenly the other girls spoon snuck into her ice cream, as she took the bite Ainsley pulled tub away, "Hey! You have your own, keep you spoon to yourself!" she laughed narrowing her eyes at her friend.

the girl looked at her friend in surprise. “should i really have this? no.” she paused, grinning mischievously. “but do i want it? yes,” she giggled. “come on, sit down, take a look,” teagan spoke quietly, flipping through page after page of colorful illustrations. “nah, i have a secret theory that they want us to snoop - after all, they’re too smart to ‘forget’ that they have kids who can teleport and phase through walls,” she said matter-of-factly, taking another bite of her pudding. “or they’re just storing random stuff back there and they don’t actually care - i mean, the comics are interesting enough, but they’re not exactly top-secret information.”
Ainsley leaned in to the other girl, “You’re going to get in trouble though,” she spoke quietly her eyes once again scanning the room for any of their superiors. “I-I don’t think that’s what they’re doing,” she spooked her head before eyes eyes went back down to the comic. It’s bright colors gaining her interest again. “I uh, I think they don’t want us to see comics because they don’t want us thinking were like,” she pointed to one of the characters illustrated in tight spandex, “these people.”

“ I OVERHEARD someone’s conversation today, and they were talking about me, ” flo says, twiddling a daisy between his fingers. “ they said i was ‘ girly ’ because of my powers. what’s that even supposed to mean? how am i even girly? i’m not even a girl! ” his eyes flicker up to meet the other’s, confusion written all over his face, before asking, “ do you think i’m girly? ”
Ainsley quickly shook her head at his question curls bouncing, “I-I don’t think so,” she smiled at him, “You have the power to kill people with plants, that seems pretty manly to me,” she paused biting her lip, “but I am a girl, so I don’t know how much my opinion counts on that,” she giggled shyly looking down at her hands.

– MYKAELA ;;
mykaela tilted her head to the side, almost as if she was actually thinking about it for a few moments. “um, no. not unless i come top of the list in that case, but otherwise definitely not.” she pressed her lips together jokingly. anyone that knew them would know that this was just their relationship and it always had been. there was no second guessing that ainsley was her little sister, not even in the slightest and anybody that said otherwise, kaela would probably hit. her brown hues slipped to watch the younger girl freeze the ice cream as a smile spread across her lips. “you know, i’m still pretty jealous you can do that. so cool.” kaela sat back up and moved towards the other, resting her head on her shoulder. it took a few moments to actually comprehend what ainsley had said as mykaela furrowed her brows. perhaps she had in fact sheltered the girl too much but that didn’t stop her protective instincts kicking in and trying to make her feel as comfortable as possible. “who knows?” she finally said after a few moments of silence. “you have nothing to be worried about though, i promise. you know i wouldn’t let anything hurt you. and besides, they’ve been saying that since we first got here, and look – we’re still here.” that was her only regret. while she had hardened since her younger years, she didn’t know what to say in situations like this, but that wouldn’t stop her from trying.
Ainsley grin widened as she kicked the girl lightly and playfully, “I don’t know,” she trained off looking around coping Mykaela’s fake thinking, “That’s hard, I do love ice cream. – MYKAELA ;;
while sometimes mykaela felt as though she probably sheltered ainsley a little too much, she reminded herself that the outside world was a cruel place to be, as was down here in the Institute. albeit there was no imminent threats that was a life or death situation, but there were still schemes and immoral corporate arseholes who were the reason they didn’t live normal lives in the first place. then suddenly the over-protectiveness didn’t seem so bad and actually better option in her head. though she wouldn’t admit it, mykaela was somewhat jealous of her innocence and wished she had that growing up, but instead had the opposite. and that’s where it came from – trying to keep that innocence with her. “that’s what i thought,” she beamed a cocky grin in her direction. it wasn’t long until the two were back in her room, with kaela sprawled out across her bed ready for the day to end. “you better be saying that because you love me and not because i just stole a heck load of ice cream, parker.” she meagerly sat up slightly to narrow her eyes teasingly. “oh just chuck me whatever, you know me. surprise me.”
Ainsley laughed shaking her head, “Can’t it be because I love you and I love ice cream,” she giggled before leaning down grabbing the chocolate ice cream and tossing it over. With a small flick of her wrist a small dark cloud formed in the palm of her hand. She held it over the rest of the other tubs as small flakes of snow began to drop down out of it. She held it there for a while till the blizzard froze the ice cream solid. “That should keep it cold for a while,” she mused taking a bite from the vanilla tub in front of her. She jumped up picking up Mykaela’s feet and settling herself on her bed. She ate in silence in a few before she looked up at the girl in front of her, “Do you really think they’re going to send us outside?” she asked trying to mask the fear in her voice. The world outside scared Ainsley, she had heard stories about the danger out there. She was much more content using her powers for medial tasks like freezing ice cream then actually fighting other people.

eden watched on with mild distaste at the dance currently occurring in the training room. didn’t see you there. “clearly..” she muttered, walking in and picking up her water bottle from the edge of the room where she’d left it. she threw it up and down and caught it in her hand repeatedly as she crossed to the weights on the other side of the room. “don’t let my presence interrupt your self celebration. you were clearly enjoying it.” she just wanted the opportunity to sweat out her bad mood before she ended up burning something instead.
At her muttered words, Griffin fought to roll his eyes. His eyes followed as she walked through the room repeating a similar movement of his with her own water bottle. “Hey, I see you’re pretty good at it too,” he joked with her trying to get a smile out of the clearly pissed off girl. He shook his head as she moved towards the weights, “Well my presence might interrupt yours, because you could use a spotter,” he pointed towards the bigger weights next to her, “Sorry, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I let you do it alone. Safety first ,” he flashed a small smile.

– MYKAELA ;;
and with that, mykaela began to adjust and balance the fewer amount of tubs with ease thanks to ainsley. “what? of course not i mean – me? never.” she teased, obvious sarcasm lacing her response as she allowed herself to be pulled by the younger girl in the opposite direction. honestly, it just amused her at just how innocent and pure ainsley actually was and kaela even marvelled in it for a second or two before sending her an amused look once again. “well that’s no fun,” she poked her tongue out briefly. “besides, you know i’d never let you get in trouble anyway. now just say thank you and let’s enjoy this before it melts.”
Ainsley rolled her eyes and shook her head at her words. She finally let go of her arm when they reached a decent length down the hallway. “I honestly don’t know why I even asked,” she giggled, “of course you did.” She honestly felt lucky to have Mykaela in her life, instead of making fun of her or leaving her in the dust she took her under her wing and she was forever grateful. “Fineee, Thank you Mykaela,” she whined again rolled her eyes knowing it was better not to fight her on this. It was true, she wouldn’t let anything happen to her. Without even thinking about it she walked in Mykaela’s room setting the tubs she was holding on the floor. “I’m sleeping here tonight,” she stated sitting down to read the labels to choose her favorite. It was more of a statement more then a question, it had become common for Ainsley to sleep over in the older girls room. She picked up the vanilla pulling the top off, “Take your pick and I’ll chill the rest.”

in all honesty, mykaela couldn’t even count the number of times she had scared people over the years. popping in and out of places was down to, especially when people weren’t paying full attention – which was 99% of the time from what she thought of her peers. but it was the staff members too. and while sometimes it had grew boring, others it still brought sheer amusement to the female, quite like this very moment. “oh come on, ains. that one wasn’t even that bad. i was at least three me– woah, woah, you wanna do me a favour and grab that real quick?” she couldn’t stop the reciprocated giggle as she tried to balance out the numerous pots which were no doubt either about to explode from how tight she was holding them, or drop from the lack of support she had initially given them. “what do you think they are? our entertainment for the night, obviously. you’ll thank me later.”
Having recovered from her mild heart attack Ainsley watched as the tubs began to fall from the older girls hands, quickly she ran to grab the ones that had slipped, “Wait- did you get these form the caf?” she almost squealed before her eyes wildly swept the hallways around them. She hope to god none of their supervisors were around. With a huff, she moved the tubs to one arm with the other she pulled the girl down the hall towards their bunks. “Our entertainment could get us in loads of trouble, aren’t you suppose to be the “big sister” here, keeping me out of trouble?” she couldn’t help but laugh a bit as the snuck down the hall.
teagcnisms:
“wait, c’mere. check this out,” teagan called through a mouthful of pudding. she didn’t look up, her attention caught by the book before her. “i found it in one of the deep storage vaults. it’s like, some kind of comic book. this girl - mystique? - she’s got the same kinda powers as me.” she grinned, flipping through the colorfully illustrated pages before snapping the book shut. “weak, though. she’s got all the power of the entire world at her fingertips, and she uses it to keep herself from aging?” she scoffed, taking another bite of her pudding. “yikes.”
Ainsley eyed the girl in front of her skeptically as she called out to her. Her eyes followed to the colorful booklet sitting in front of them. “Should you really have that?” she whispered her eyes moving back in forth around the two of them nervously. “I mean, they probably had it back there for a reason.” she sighed in relief as she watched the other girl shut the book. She popped open her own pudding cup taking a mouthful. “It is kinda cool though, I’m sure you’d do something much cooler.”
mykcelas:
so, it turns out mykaela was in the mood for some ice cream and APPARENTLY the ancient lunch lady who seemed to hold a personal vendetta against her claimed to be out of it. needless to say, the brunette never really took no for an answer and with intangibility at her fingertips, not so accidentally found herself into the kitchen where in fact there had been a stash of it. needless to say, she had taken MORE than enough for a single person and phased straight out of there without being noticed until she turned her head and saw the other standing down the hall. “well, i’d say it’s not what it looks like, but it kinda is,” she shrugged to the best of her abilities without dropping the pots. “oops?”
Ainsley was minding her own business milling through the halls of the facility like she always did. It had been a quiet night so far which seem like a rarity with a million people always running around everywhere. Just as she passed the outside of a cafeteria Mykaela appeared in front of her, she jumped at the sight of her muttering a curse under her breathe. Despite how much time they spent together her abilities could still catch her off guard. “Damn it Kae, you scared the shit out of me!” she giggled walking towards the other girl before eyeing the tubs in her hands skeptically. “Um- what ya got there..?”
