Hey! I really hope you don't mind writing for Norman Bates so much lately but I just watched Psycho and... If you feel like it would you write a little something on the s/o asking Mother for Norman's hand in marriage? And maybe his reaction because he wasn't aware of the s/o wanting to ask that? (Let's just pretend Mother likes the s/o so it doesn't end in a bloody death ^^')
Not at all, Norman is my second favorite slasher! Also, this is like…the cutest ask? Send more?
When Norman walks in, he isn’t expecting to see you and Mother together. He worries, leaving you two alone. Mother…well, she doesn’t exactly like outsiders, and while you’ve done a great job of navigating the tricky waters of the Bates family, there’s no telling what could happen when he’s away.
However, it’s not that you and Mother are sitting together that’s strange, it’s that Mother looks so…happy. Why, she was positively pleased, as were you. “Well,” He says, smiling at his two favorite people in the world. “What’s going on here?” You beam at him, patting the cushion next to you. “I was just talking with Mrs. Bates about our future together,” You tell him. The kiss on his cheek as he settles next to you isn’t reassuring. Ah, you’re leaving him, that’s why Mother looked so please.
“Oh?” He says, trying his hardest to keep his heart together long enough to hear your break up excuse. He’s surprised his hands don’t shake when he takes that cup of tea from you. “Yes, well, we’ve been together a long time, Norman, and well,” He chances a glance at you. You look positively radiant. Another tear in his heart, are you really that excited to leave him. “I asked Mrs. Bates’ permission to marry you.”
Norman chokes on the tea, not expecting such a remark. You take his cup. Setting it on the table you turn to pat his back. “I-I know it isn’t exactly traditional,” You begin, thinking he doesn’t like the idea of getting married. He possibly isn’t ready. You hadn’t taken that into account. “But, I, Well, I love you Norman, and I can’t see my future without you in it.”
Norman gapes at you, red from roots to tip. He looks to Mother, then back at you. You’re both waiting for him to answer. “O-of course, we can just forget the whole thing,” You backtrack, looking distressed. “No!” Norman snaps, starling you. “No, I mean, I mean yes.” The look of hope on your eyes is utterly enchanting. “Yes, yes, I’ll marry you.” Norman gives you a quick kiss. You smile at him, adoration in your eyes. He feels silly then. How on earth could he have ever doubted you.
