Charlotte and Jane - sapphic version of Charles Chambers and John Fogg from New Yearâs Day podcast (as requested by @lesbianwildflower), inspired by this photo of Joan Blondell and Geraldine Fitzgerald.
Their names are from @emilyclowder âs fic (go check it out!!)
More drawings and notes under the cut.
Charlotte Chambers
Character design tests
When designing them I thought to give Charlotte a slightly more conservative style not necessarily because she believes in those values but because sheâs afraid of visibly stepping outside the norm. I think an important part of Charlesâs character is that heâs scared of being seen as âotherâ and I wanted to highlight that in his female version.
I made Jane a bit more modern for contrast and because John is obviously not as bothered by societal expectations as Charles is. He is a lot bolder than Charles and follows new trends more.
Making them women born in the 19th century would make their lives a lot harder than in the original, and I think @emilyclowder had a great take on it. Because if we want the story to work the same they still have to get very successful careers and that would be a lot more difficult than in the original, considering the era.

Is anyone still into The Bright Sessions? I lowk need moots that are into it because I feel like I'm getting the cuckoos having no one to talk about these interests to. I'm not crazy I swear I'm sorry I joined the hype train so late
Damien absolutely got drunk and cried in the shower of whatever shitty hotel he was staying in when he realized he got was developing feelings for Mark and refused to talk about it after
hello. this is a shot in the dark but does anyone have a copy of a neon darkness by lauren preferrably the audiobook. for science purposes. no im fine why do you ask
I cannot stress enough how much I love how bad Damien is at his bad guy persona which is why it baffles me that anyone is actually fooled by it. Like this guy is fighting against deeply ingrained Midwest manners at all times to seem cooler. He is constantly taking the opportunity to make puns. He's a book nerd who gets happy when people understand the references he's making. His edgy bad boy persona breaks down the moment anyone is even remotely nice to him and he starts following them around because he wants to be friends. His black hoodie and poor social skills have somehow convinced everyone he's an evil mastermind
