Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that Finland’s new prime minister is Sanna Marin, a liberal left wing 34 year old woman, who comes from a queer family*, was the first one in her family to graduate high school and go to university, and she now has a master’s degree, a fiancé and a one year old daughter.

Oh and the coalition government that she’s the new prime minister of has four parties in addition to her party, all four of which are led by women and three of these women are in their 30s. 

It’s been a while since i’ve felt optimistic about politics.

(*in Finland we speak of ”rainbow families”, usually meaning that the parents are queer, Marin hasn’t specified at least to my knowledge what it in her case specifically means.
