Okay, Iām gonna wade in on the whole āchildhood friends/adoptive brotherā shit with Caleb once, because my OC (who exists only in my head, in a handful of drawings and is on my mind 24/7/365) is in this exact scenario: an adoptive family dynamic with a love interest that grows over time. It makes 100% sense in my head because she has been in my head for over ten years. No I will not be elaborating on this whatsoever.
I will draw your attention to a little Italian movie called The Tearsmith, which I believe was based on a light novel/wattpad-type story. It is the exact kind of story that is in my head (more or less): orphans, brought together, growing up together, falling in love after some misunderstandings. Itās a nice movie if you have the chance to check it out. The angst is 10/10.
I find the whole āincestā narrative really fucking funny because itās just... not that? Itās such a cop out. Theyāre not related. Thereās nothing incestuous about it. It amounts to knowing someone your whole life and building feelings for them.
Perhaps I shouldnāt even speak on this because Iām an only child and I have never been raised with anyone, but I feel like the āew theyāre like siblingsā is such a dumbass argument if youāre not into the character or the storyline. Leave it alone if itās not your thing. You donāt need to make others feel bad for enjoying something that is not what youāre blowing it up to be.
In terms of the translation, I will die on the hill of the EN being on top because the translations I read for the other languages are never as poetic or enjoyable to me. The English language is a beautiful beast and the devs use it very well in this game. Cultural nuances are whatever. Case in point: Sylus. All day every day a better character in EN. Sorry but Iām not sorry at all.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk, but from the depths of my heart and my mind; I got really riled about being made to think my OC was wrong in some way. Because her story is perfect to me. I love her and I will write a thousand angry posts in her defence. Even though she will never grace your screen in this lifetime or any other.
EDIT: also, stop assuming all global players are morons who canāt understand that niichan/oppa is can be and is used as an expression for people who arenāt your literal brother. I consume enough Asian media to know this. I am British and English is my first language, so I can read between the lines. Context is a thing.
