So happy I finished this thing before ep 8 oof

Anyway, the comic was born out of

my thoughts about Caine's model lacking many essential facial features (as if he was never intended to show any emotions) and yet him being literally the most expressive character in the circus despite everything.

me being low-key obsessed with the implications episode 7 left us with. Players questioning everything they've been told and Caine being in the center of it all.

Just to be clear, I do believe Caine is written as a sentient AI who is just struggling to understand humanity and everything that comes with it. And I think these thoughts about him faking his emotions are inherently wrong within a story. He's oblivious and desperate but not malicious. But couple it with the fact that he's been lying about many other things (so far I'm inclined to think it was for players' sake in his own eyes) and that humans have been suffering for a while dealing with a literal god that doesn't understand them... Well, I have a feeling that they will doubt his motives and literally everything they know, rightfully so.

The amount of attention this little comic received is a bit terrifying and overwhelming and seeing all the different interesting interpretations people come up with I just wanted to explain mine own a little better <3

I want them all to be healed and happy, little guy absolutely included, but man the situation is rough, and the odds are against us

K9 prowl's old masters trying to starve all their dogs to death so that there was no evidence of abuse?

The rescue finds prowl barely clinging to life as he's laying next to dead mechs that didn't survive the eternal hunger. He's so light and malnourished the bots at the rescue didn't believe prowl would make it. He can't eat anything "heavy" because his frame would malfunction due to calorie overload, that's how starved he was.

Maybe after gaining some weight and being able to stand up without feeling dizzy he joins his caretaker Optimus to a food truck that's owned by jazz in this busy part of downtown Iacon. He goes and tries some junk food and taste so good prowl goes and orders another one. Optimus is very happy about this unfolding.

For now, K9 prowl is held together by IV bags that pump nutrients to him.

I have no smut to bring to you my king, but I have been thinking; prowl would be the only spouse to cook for a combiner team of six green big cons. Because I feel like constructicons would suck at cooking. Poor soul who pisses off prowl for the day— they will not eat as an afterthought.

Prowl preparing food for the constructicons is so funny i bet he just makes them one big pot of energon slop and they all say Thank You Prowl as they dig into their nasty gruel

What are the chances of the mechs turned pets being shadow played to think and behave like dogs?

The rescue tries so hard to rehabilitate these abused mechs, attempting to reverse the lobotomy but it's futile, they're nothing more but a dog inside a mech's body, permanently. Granted they are abused mechs that were never under the mercy of a memosurgen's needles, but they're still in need of humanization.

Prowl did undergo lobotomy but it was a really botched one. The reason why he excels in police dog missions is because there's a part of him that's still a mech, albeit a small fragment of it. Besides that, anything that requires "higher thinking" (be a functioning member of society) is something he struggles with.

Prowler is smart at dogging, dumb at meching.

shadowplay is definitely an option. there's no chance the k9 units can realize they're mechs and put up a fight when they're literally incapable of doing so. the rescue employs the best surgeons on cybertron, but even they have trouble resetting the damage....

aaaah and the fact that Prowl is so good because a part of him is still a mech is sooo messed up. while the others are simply behaving on instinct, he's capable of understanding what his superiors want on a sapient level, which means he excels at taking orders and being generally good. he never realizes the others can't do that, which is why he resents them so badly for misbehaving. he's such a good dog, why can't they be? it's so easy, you just have to listen to the officers.

i wonder if this means prowl has a little bit of an advantage in the recovery, even if he struggles with things that require higher thinking. maybe we can loop back to prowl simply "pretending" to be a mech because he considers it an order from his superiors. with his processor capable of understanding clearly what the rescuers want from him, it can certainly look like he's recovering a little bit, but anyone who's been with the rescue for a while knows that this is as far as Prowl goes...

Prowl should get a hypnotic trigger implanted to put him to sleep whenever Autobot high command finds him overworking. For his own good. Maybe someone takes advantage of him eventually but most of the time, they just carry him over to the medbay and tuck him in to a berth in the private officer's ward

Prowl's medically assigned hypnotic trigger.... and it's so embarrassing, too, he probably hates it a lot, especially since it's activated by a little kissy, but he can't lie and say that it doesn't help him rest. aw, i need him hypnotized in the middle of a meeting and then cradled in Optimus' hands for the rest of it, a sleepy second in command, nuzzling against his leader's chest...

In my head (I’m delusional), the reason Prowl distanced himself from Ostaros/Springer is because once his processor registered him as his sparkling, his battle computer began accounting for Springer’s wellbeing with every calculation it made.

With Springer around, Prowl’s CPU would be stretched thin. Whether he liked it or not, he’d be constantly unconsciously fussing over every little thing happening around him and Springer; running risk assessments in overtime and allocating more processing power than ever to assure that first and foremost, his sparkling is safe and healthy. 

Obviously, that won’t fly… Logically, Prowl knows that he has bigger and better things to worry about than the kid he didn’t ask for, regardless of how much his processors want him to care. In order to ensure his battle computer continues functioning unbiased and at maximum capacity for it’s actual intended purposes, the most effective course of action is to ship Springer off to be someone else’s problem <3

Now put them back together, let Prowl’s big dumb battle brain fuss over his kid, and have Springer get attached to his cranky little mommy :>
