Worst week yet...
I had Maili & Fiona [my tumor rats] euth'd on Saturday.
My grandmother passes away on Sunday.
Here it is Monday & I found Yoda [my old man rat, 2y7m] dead in his cage along with a mouse dead in hers.
I am now afraid to wake up in the morning.....
My Trouble boy
No nickname yet
My Cali girl
Nicknamed "Rex"
We had kittens!!! Baby #1 & 2 were born at the end of July 14th & the last 3 on July 15th. We believe there may be 1-2 more kittens even tho labor stalled out at 1am on the 14th. We're anxiously waiting & will be seeing a vet soon to check. We have nicknamed baby #1 "Pickatwo" because my sister had a blue named "Picka" that looked just like her that her ex-hubby stole. She cannot keep her however. Baby #2 is named Trouble. He took 13 minutes & 6 strong contractions to come out. We were almost out the door to the vets or breaking the kittens legs in order to get him out in order to save mom & remaining kittens. Empty sac then back feet were coming out. She was struggling. He had gone back in three times!!! We were so scared. The 5th contraction the hips came out. On the 6th contraction my sister & I pulled him out the rest of the way. Saved in the nick of time. I have wanted an orange tabby for my son & he is the only one! Baby #3 is an adorable darker tabby whose birth was unremarkable thankfully. Baby #4 & 5 shared a sac but look nothing alike. Baby #4 is Cali, a tortie like her mom. We will keep her too - I love torties! Baby #5 is black & white & just darling with a white ring around his neck. Their birth luckily was only dramatic in the sense when she stood up after having #4 that Cali was still attached to mom when baby #5 was brought into the world. Lady is a good mama. Mom will be fixed as soon as her milk dries up.
Sad news
I've been really busy for some time but to add on even more it seems my gma is dying & there's nothing else the Drs can do. Its only a matter of when now.
With added responsibility of taking care of my gma as well as my children & pets I've taken a much needed break from the online world & even the pet world.
I have had to rehome 6 pet mice (that wasn't including rescue family but most will be rehomed at the right time), all but 4 syrian hamsters with the possibility of one of my sisters two (with hopes of pairing Stella Oct/Nov), & my sisters g.pig is going to a rescue but my 4 stay put. Rats are staying put. I just cannot deal with it all right now.
We have decided my rat girls with the tumors will be euth'd soon as quality of life is deminishing & its not fair to keep them in this world based on my attachmemt & the fact I don't want to say goodbye.
This will be posted on my current 3 blogs.
With the last rescue mom having delivered there is an offical count of 30 babies!!! 8 from the 1st litter (3 males available - in photos, 4 adopted, 1 keeping) 4 from the 2nd litter (3 adopted, 1 keeping) 9 from 3rd litter 9 from 4th litter
Baby girls (minus Ossball)
Boys from 1st litter
3 days old patterns emerging.
