Hypomania isn't the same as happiness

Hypomania is staring at streetlights for full minutes because the halo of light is so round it looks like god. Touching every tree on the off chance that it opens a door to another dimension. Half-believing that angels and secret societies are following you and not even caring because what could they possibly do to you - you, glorious, burning, pure like fire is pure, invincible, untouchable, almost intangible - light itself! Thinking over and over: “how dare they?” without bothering to define who ‘they’ is because you are infinitely righteous and justified in everything, as right as it’s possible for a person to be (although you know the word person barely applies to a genius and hero like you.) Hypomania is weeping with rage over things you understand aren’t real, and still feeling more joy than you’ve ever felt. Hypomania is extreme and irrational.

If you’re neurotypical, you have never been “a little manic” or “a little hypomanic.” If you have, something is wrong. This isn’t something “everyone feels sometimes.” Hypomania isn’t the same as happiness.
