NAME IDEA GENERATION

I came up with a variety of different names for the app an struggled to narrow it down. I wanted the name to feel personal to the user as well as simple and effective. I ended up choosing “mycontrol”, and I chose this as it stood out to me the most in terms of feeling personal. As the whole concept for the project is taking control of diabetes and helping with management, I think this name suited every aspect of the idea.

I wanted the logo to take that personal and simple feeling which is why I went with a font logo as it is simple and conveys the message of taking control. I chose to use bright colours as I didn't want dark or dull colours as it might've bought out a depressing atmosphere to the whole concept. Whereas with the blue and green, it brightens up everything and creates that fun and happy atmosphere which is exactly what I wanted from the logo and name. I wanted the user to feel in control of their condition with the help of the app.

RESEARCH- FRESH EGO KID WEBSITE

Here is the website store for a clothing company called Fresh Ego Kid. There website uses a simple design and focuses only on the products which creates easy usability for the user. Also, they're information is only what is needed and no extra which will confuse the user. The delivery and shipping page is quite easy to understand as it is simply displayed with sections for UK, USA, Europe and the rest of the world. This makes it easy to find the information you need. I chose to look into this website as I want my website design to be simple and easy to use, and this is a great example of a user focused website store for clothing.

ENVY APPAREL BRIEF

For this brief, I will be designing a new website for a clothing label which my and my mates are currently restarting called Envy Apparel. My aim for this brief is to create a website store for the brand to promote the clothing and attract customers. TYPE 2 DIABETES - RESEARCH

- How it develops

Type 2 diabetes develops when the insulin-producing cels in the body are not able to produce enough insulin, or when the insulin is produces, it does not work properly. Type 2 diabetes usually appear within people who are over the age of 40, even though South Asian people are a greater risk, can get it from the age of 25. Furthermore, it is starting to appear more often in children and young people of all ethnicities.

- Type 2 diabetes in children

Even though the majority of children have Type 1 diabetes, now it is starting to get more common that children are now developing Type 2 diabetes.

- Type 2 Treatments

As Type 2 diabetes is a progressive condition, over time you need medication to help manage your blood sugar levels.

I will focus on patients with Type 2 diabetes within the app as they will be able to keep on top of their condition through the simple and easy management with diet and exercise.

TYPE 1 DIABETES - RESEARCH

- How it develops

Type 1 diabetes develop when insulin-producing cells in the body are destroyed and the body is unable to produce anymore insulin. Type 1 diabetes accounts for about 10 per cent of all adults with diabetes and is treated daily by insulin doses. These are taken through either injections ro an insulin pump.

- What is Insulin?

Insulin is a hormone and works as a chemical messenger which helps the body use the glucose in your blood to give you energy. Glucose enters cells which is then used a fuel, however, Type 1 diabetes stop the body from producing any insulin.

“The body can't use glucose to provide energy and tries to get it from elsewhere and starts to break down stores of fat and protein instead. This can cause weight loss. Because the body doesn’t use the glucose it ends up passing into the urine.” - Diabetes UK

- Diabetes Treatments

A number of treatments are available to help patients manage and control their diabetes. With Type 1 diabetes. and some people with Type 2 diabetes need to take insulin doses to control blood sugar levels (blood glucose levels).

For my project, I will be concentrating on patients with Type 1 diabetes for the insulin pen as my aim is to make it easier and safer to inject insulin, as well as making is easier within public spaces too.

DIABETES APP BRIEF

This brief is based on the idea of creating an app which allows diabetes patients to manage and keep in control of their condition easily without having to remember everything and take measurement all the time. The app will keep everything logged and saved as well as having a secondary device which will measure their condition such as heart rate, exercise etc. So, the wearable device and mobile device will keep in sync with one another to help the user keep in control of their condition. Furthermore, I will also design a insulin injection pen, which will allow for easier insulin dose tracking as it will sync straight into the app once taken.

COOKIT APP BRIEF

For this brief, I will be creating an app based on the idea I had for a food recipe platform. My idea is essentially cooking at home, made easier. The app will focus on users who love to cook or if they are new to cooking, to create and share their own recipes or choose from many other recipes created by other users in the app. It will also feature many other exciting elements as social media, and inputing ingredients available to you and creating recipes based on those ingredients.

GLOBAL MUNDO TAPAS MENUPAD - RESEARCH

Mundo Tapas restaurant in Australia replaced their menu with iPads, similar to my idea. I think they designed it well and created an exciting experience for consumers but you could only just order a regular menu and although it is something new, they could've added more to the concept. For my idea to give consumers something more is something which I think will add to experience more.
