Hi everyone, I’m Lea and I’m here to tell you about Akia and the situation she is in right now and why she hasn’t been active lately.

Akia, a very good friend of mine, has recently been admitted to the hospital for reasons that I don’t feel comfortable with sharing. She is physically fine but is still having some emotional trouble right now and is not and will not be available for a while.  I do not know when she will be back because I am not a family member and don’t have any access to any real information but all I know right now is that she will be away until doctors feel she is alright on her own. 

Even after she returns, I do not know if she will have access to the internet or any of her electronic devices because she will likely been on watch for quiet a while and I am unsure what her restrictions will be.

My name is Angie. I’m a 20 year old woman, and I’m bed bound with a serious neurological injury. This was sustained from an accident during my last year of high school. I had wanted to study music at a conservatorium, but right now, I’m stuck in my room for months at a time, and unable to lift my head off the bed without hurting my spine.

To complicate the situation, my previous landlord evicted me for my disability, and I’m forced to pay for expensive temporary accommodation. I’m constantly on the verge of running out of money and becoming homeless. It’s impossible for me to apply for government housing unless I have a full diagnosis. To do this, I need to attend medical consultations that I cannot currently afford.

I'm curious- is cultural appropriation a bigger deal in America than other places? I live in a predominantly black area of London, and no one ever seems to care about cultural appropriation. Is black culture a bigger deal in the states especially due to segregation and racism? Don't get me wrong, we still have racism here but there is more discrimination based on what country you are from as opposed to your race. I guess it's a bigger deal if you're a minority? Like how Japanese people..(part 1)

(Part 2) in Japan didn’t care or see the problem with that kimono art gallery thing, but Japanese people in America did. I guess because they are the minority there? I have no one to talk about cultural appropriation with as, as I said, it’s really not seen as a big deal in Europe. If you wear traditional German clothes ( I can’t remember the name off the top of my head) you aren’t appropriating a culture. What’s the difference? (I’m not being rude I’m honestly curious and eager to learn)

Heyo babycakes! I think it has a lot to do with being a minority, personally but I might not be the best one to ask. I think it might just be the large population of liberated citizen in America that are pretty determined to keep everything all Politically Correct but I could be entirely wrong as I’ve never lived anywhere but America before and my views are limited to things I’m read and told.    The whole thing with Cultural Appropriation is that a lot of it has to do with a country filled with people of many different races being dominated by an entirely white supremacy so we’re just trying to keep a little bit of our roots while white people commonly like to steal our culture and claim it as theirs just as they did with the land we stand upon this very day.   

This also popped up on my dash and might help a bit.
