AkiRen Week Day 3 Part 1: First Day
It had been, an interesting last few weeks. The yelling, the handcuffs, the yelling, the gavel, the yelling… And now here he was on his way into a city bigger than he’d ever been to before. He’d heard horror stories of Tokyo from tv and what few adults in his life actually spoke to him without sounding exasperated that he was taking up their valuable time. At least it was just for a year. If he kept his head down, he could go home and pray to whatever Gods may or may not be listening that he’d still actually have a home when he got there.
As it stood, Ren only had a few hours train ride to figure out exactly how he was going to handle an entire year away from everything familiar to him. He had long since decided that he was going to try and be as unassuming as possible, but it wasn’t as though there wouldn’t be anyone who knew about his past. After all, both the school and whoever this Sakura Sojiro guy was knew about his record and what had happened.
What the court said happened, anyway.
Honestly, that whole damn night still filled his chest with a smoldering anger that had never properly faded away, even in the wake of the fear and shock of being arrested for something he hadn’t even done. Then again, being punished for things that weren’t his fault seemed to be something of a recurring theme in his life. After all, if you ask his parents, everything is his fault.
Something about the train ride had managed to put him to sleep, still thinking about how exactly he wound up here. When the announcement came over the PA system for Shibuya he jerked awake, looking out the nearest window in something akin to awe mixed with shock. It…hadn’t really hit him just how different this place would be from what he was used to. The sheer amount of people surrounding him was intense. The din of the trains, the concessions, the passengers, the PA system…it was deafening.
Looking at his phone and trying to tune everything out was only working so much. It wasn’t until he made it out into Shibuya Square that everything changed. Ren wasn’t quite used to seeing things. The silence caught him first, and then the lack of movement. Then there was the fiery shape with eyes and a grin that felt…familiar? Comfortable? Whatever the case it was gone in a flash and everything resumed as normal.
This was going to be one Hell of a year, he could already tell.
