'Skin' at Vault Festival 2015. Photos by Maximillian Webster Photography . 'Skin' was created by me, and then curated as part of The Artful Badger's Wild Worlds: Dark Sides. Aerial structure designed and built by me, under mentorship from Will Cleary and Andy Mitchell as part of my MA at DOCH, Dans och Cirkushögskolan/School of Dance and Circus Supervision and mentorship ongoing from Rob Tannion and John-Paul Zaccarini.
Come to the Show… just 7 left… Wild Worlds: Dark Sides curated by Artful Badger at Vault Festival, Waterloo, London. Photographer - Maximillian Webster. Performer Aedín Walsh in 'Skin' by Aedín Walsh http://www.vaultfestival.com/project/wild-worlds-dark-side/
Reviews for 'Skin' (on Now!)
“A woman is trapped in a net suspended from the ceiling. Spiderlike, she twists and turns, grappling with the relentless ropes, struggling, falling, pausing for breath. She swings angrily towards the audience and stretches claw-like fingers towards their upturned faces, only to be pulled back by the net in the last second. She is fighting the ropes but also mastering them, and her pose turns from helpless to powerful in moments…. Skin by Aedin Walsh, the third act, follows the spider-woman in her net, in which acrobatics merge seamlessly with performance art. She seems to be struggling with her own being, desperately trying to break away from her own skin only to be dragged back by the net of her own making.”

gypsy genes.
Illustrate- Fiction. the black hole of an island, waking marooned (and half-drowned/spluttering?) in a stage of ropes and knots.. a room without walls, a world without sun. A womans’ body caught in the dream of a musician. The webbing ropes attached to …. nothing…. to a skin unseen … a journey from oblivion to flight… Waking… toil and labour (on the railroad) to raise the net caught, sprawled, wriggling, dissected on Eliot’s wall journey to safety… to movement, the net (keeping a low profile?) leaning out, jumping away and being dragged back, caught (in the agency of the object?) - Giving the net a life of it’s own- a chance to be seen (what is it?). The rope, a respite, freedom from the net and the suffocating space of wall, floor, and emptiness. Swinging, the ultimate freedom, setting loose the ties to the earth and being in control of the net and myself in it. Escaping from the floors and walls, to the roof and the sky beyond. Aerialist - Aedín Walsh
