Seven Things My WoL Carries At All Times

Wasn’t tagged, but saw a friend do it and thought heck why not.

Doman-style Concealed Dagger (kaiken): Even if she’s no longer technically a shinobi combat-wise, she will never leave her quarters without at least one small, hidden dagger on her person.

Linkpearl: For obvious reasons, must keep in touch with the others. Doesn’t like not being in contact with her people for strategic as well as personal reasons.

Scaevan Bracelet of Casting: Yes, she doesn’t technically need it anymore, but it’s a customized one Nero made for her personally as a gift, so she doesn’t ever take it off.

Battered Journal: She’s kept a journal since she first began her adventures as a Warrior of Light, and after losing it in her apartment several times she’s taken to carrying it on her person.

Job Crystals: She has several at this point, and even if she’s mainly a red mage she tends to use her skills in tandem with one another, so she carries her Red Mage, Samurai, Ninja, and White Mage crystals with her at all times.

Bag of Umeboshi: Alan is kind of addicted to dried Doman plums, so she has a bag of them on her at all times to snack on. 

Dried Flowers: She’s always carried a single preserved moonflower on her, ever since her liegelady died, but more recently she’s taken to carrying a preserved spider lily with it as well.

Hello hi yes, here I am having finished all of 5.2 except the beast tribes on my main, and I have some Hot Theories. See below cut.

1. We, the PC, are indeed still the 14th -- we clearly stayed neutral in the Rock Fight and even now continue to stay neutral in essence. We're going to end up dealing with BOTH Hydaelyn and Zodiark. Also, by our nature as not having summoned either one, we are not tempered. ( Note ARR Ifrit -- "the godless blesseds' number" makes a lot more sense now.) 2. Venat is bad news, this I know from knowing of FF12; the FF12 Venat was an antagonist, and in the end fused with Vayne and their airship, and I do believe this is what they intend with Zenos -- to fuse with him somehow, to deal with Zodiark. By this token, I believe that out "hooded figure", the one with Zenos, is Venat, using Asahi's face and voice to garner an initial sense of trust. 2a. Playing Eden -- E8 was TERRIFYING, and even if it wasn't really Her, it shows me that Hydaelyn is just as dangerous as Zodiark. Venat and their people did not create balance, but broke it, sealing away Zodiark and making Light stronger instead of having two equal but opposite numbers. 3. Relating to Venat --- I believe that Elidibus' real name is Gerun. Yes, that Gerun. In FF12 Gerun was the leader of the Occuria, the race of beings Venat the 'heretic' was part of. So Gerun <-> Venat being counterparts and the Hearts of the First Primals makes a lot of sense. In addition, that Elidibus had the Gerun Oracles....makes a lot more sense with this in mind. Thirdly, Gerun in FF12 is canonically a very manipulative being, pretending to be [spoilers] Ashe's dead fiancee Rasler half the game in order to goad her into carrying out what they want her to do. This is similar to what Elidibus is doing with Ardbert in 5.2. Final piece of evidence -- a quote from FF12 Gerun off their FFWiki page: "The humes ever skew hist'ry's weave; With haste they move through too-short lives Driven to err by base desires, T'ward waste, and wasting on they run." This...strikes me as incredibly similar to what he said to us in Rak'tika. 4. Not a theory so much as an AUGH, but the comment Elidibus makes in that conversation -- and he says similar in both JP and FR -- about 'correcting' Emet-Selch's undesirable thoughts, or something of that nature....scared the shit out of me, with what we know now about him all but being Zodiark/Zodiark's will given form, after a fashion. 5. Emet-Selch is the shoebill. Somehow. That they introduced him in the MSQ openly, with Ryne meeting him, and how 'lonely' the shoebill seemed...that's important. 6. Regarding the Werlyt questline -- Blue Boy (Rex?) is Sapphire's pilot, and Green Boy (Ricon?) is going to be Emerald's, and either Allie or Alphonse or both is going to pilot Diamond. Their hair colors match perfectly, ha.

Ugh, kami, for all that I promised to write in this more often, keep up properly, I have clearly not. 

Though I blame this on that I left my journal in my room on the First and forgot it was there until I was cleaning it up a bit this afternoon...really. Do I have to paste it to myself?! Ah, well.

In any case, there isn’t overmuch to speak on, thankfully. I’m not too badly behind on writing what’s happened since...since then. It’s still difficult to think about, difficult to consider, for some of us Warriors more than others. I believe Brona is the worst off, but...at least we can speak to each other about it, if we need to. The Scions certainly seem to intend to never speak of it again.

Though...we do need to worry about other matters, I suppose. Getting them home has become rather important, given their bodies cannot hold out forever without their souls. We are not yet running out of time, but...we do need to make some haste, though we’ve made little progress, even with the aid of G’raha’s Nu Mou acquaintance. So I can cut them a little slack, but...it still does not feel right that we never even so much as look at Amaurot again, think or speak of what we learned there. The souls of the Ascians have been mentioned in regards to the auracite, as an idea, but...that’s all. If the recreation is so detailed, could we not find answers there? But no one’s even brought it up. I don’t understand. He isn’t the first to nearly kill us, but he is the first we are pretending has no further impact, when it has the most impact of any enemy before.

But--- ah, I shouldn’t dwell too much on it, either. At least...not that way. I don’t think we’re done with it all yet, though. 

Hm...in the meantime, though, there are two side matters we’re dealing with; first Eden, a huge Sin Eater we --- well, Ryne most of all, but Thancred and Urianger as well --- are using to attempt to fix the Empty’s stagnant aether. We’ve made a little progress using a mad idea of Urianger’s, but for now we wait until a...rather surprising guest wakes before we continue. Second, a strange ruin filled with machines and other sentient humanoid machina that the dwarves found; we wait for some little thing to scan pieces of what we believe is some kind of key before we can act further, there. 

It feels oddly quiet, compared to the aftermaths of defeating Thordan and Zenos. I cannot believe it is so easy. I know that Zenos has regained his body, and there is something else Gaius is chasing, but...with the Empire not acting and a likely coup in place again...ah, I don’t know. This isn’t over, something will happen. We just must wait for it to reveal itself.

Favorite Foods

Because I have a Thing about this and I realized I never made an actual Post about it here for Alan, just mentioned it a couple times in meme posts. I like talking about this kinda stuff okay. Most of Alan’s favorite foods are Doman, which means it was hard to get around Eorzea for most of her time here; she knew how to make a couple things, but the ingredients were super hard to come by too. Lucky for her, with 2.2 and the Domans turning up, and then having a basically open access line to Kugane, it’s been a lot easier to get her favorites. She does have a few Eorzean dishes she likes, though, too, since she’s spent so much time here.

Doman green tea; she’s taken to carrying at least one tin of matcha with her at all times, because she doesn’t like alcohol much and she really isn’t a fan of Eorzean tea, though she got used to it; other than that she does like fruit juices and especially cider.

Likes the Doman persimmon tea that’s getting popular recently, too.

Unagi (eel) --- grilled is her favorite, but she’ll eat it prepared basically any way.

Which is why she loves eel pie in Eorzea.

Umeboshi and hoshigaki; the best snacks ever, she always has some in her bag, always willing to share. Will also consume half her weight in onigiri if it has umeboshi filling.

Also adores persimmon pudding, thanks to that.

Udon; hot udon is nice, especially with fried tofu, but she loves simple cold udon.

She’s fond of Eorzean pasta dishes because of this, mostly with lighter sauces though, nothing too thick or heavy.

Hiyayakko; really, she likes tofu a lot. 

Uiro mochi 

Jellied compote as well, dessertwise.
