Really genuinely drives me crazy how obsessed people are with peter’s weight which historically through his life has been outstandingly useless as a health metric and yes he’s not super healthy now but was he ever?? He’s been a drug addict for decades!! To blame it on appearance is patently ridiculous and in my mind just a symbol of how people really latch onto Peter as an embodiment of the whole early-2000s-Camden-indie-drifter vibe instead of thinking about him as a person. Which if you’re not a Libertines/adjacent fan I have no problem with but to see die hard self-proclaimed Libs/Pete fans lamenting over his weight and stick and nonsense? Makes me actually angry. The waifish starving wartime poet is a myth and always has been, and really the non-musical appeal of the Libertines has always been that it can be consumed as a modern mythology. Insane to hold a real live man with notorious addiction and health issues to those standards.

israel has now officially been announced as one of the countries participating in eurovision 2024

meanwhile russia is still banned, for the third year in a row. the double standard is just sickening

if you're european, you should 1) put pressure on your national broadcaster to withdraw from the contest. if the national selection goes through, then 2) pressure the individual artist(s) to withdraw from the contest. if come may, and israel is still participating, you should 3) boycott eurovision as a viewer, 4) pressure local establishments (clubs, gay bars etc.) to cancel their eurovision events, 5) intensify the pressure against your national broadcaster and its representing artist(s). never let them forget, even for a moment, the genocide they're complicit in.

also, if you're swedish, you have a special responsibility to protest as you're this years host country.
