just finished this month's book club book, went skimming goodreads reviews afterwards as you do, got my breath taken away by this absolutely brutal ending to one of the multi-paragraph 1 star reviews
ONE OF MY FAVORITE MANGAKA'S IS A JOJO'S FAN AND CREATES JOJO FANART??
Her names Kotteri, she's the mangaka for the manga "Veil" which is a slice of life romance between a cop and a blind heiress as they slowly develop a relationship through small everyday moments and interactions. So SUPER CUTE.
AND LIKE LOOK AT THE FAN ART SHE MADE:
I absolutely love the way she draws expressions and I feel like she perfectly captures all the characters personalities 😭
Particularly how she draws old Joseph.... No comment. 👀
an underestimated obstacle to infrastructure
fun's over
So, this is weird. As far as I can tell, the company responsible for this cable did everything absolutely properly and professionally, and didn’t ever plan to do anything which would disturb the beach at all. There were reasonable concerns about the fact that it’s a beautiful beach and tourist asset which shouldn’t be messed around with, but these were all taken into account at a very early stage in the planning because they were so obvious. Harry Potter fans didn’t cause anything to be changed. The project got permission really quite quickly and has been in operation for a while now.
noo an unsourced internet post can't be exaggerated
such insolence... guards? seize her! ...no. stop. not like that. you are doing it gay. why are you seizing her gay style
Different worlds.
One of the most frequent requests we got in playtesting Eat God is a bigger Random Quirks table. This is the first of several planned expansions for playtest draft 0.8, previewing the 3xx entries (i.e., 311 through 366 on a d666); contributions from co-writers @ribstongrowback, Ashley Flanagan, and Zach Welhouse.
Throwing a few more out there in addition to the one I put in the replies. (Again, apologies if these are repeats in spirit.)
"A rare species of small creature nests within or upon your body; they provide you a minor service in exchange for shelter."
"Your steps make the sound of a xylophone, timpani, or other pitched percussion instrument."
"You often refer to your corporate assets or responsibilities such as 'sales figures', 'stock portfolios', and '[your] secretary', despite possessing nothing of the sort."
"You are in search of a good steed and consider anything you can ride to be a potential candidate."
"You wear a suitably sized object as a shell and are always keeping an eye out for a better version to upgrade to."
everyone who is not currently in the process of moving please pause and take a moment to be grateful that you're not currently in the process of moving

ok, maybe you didn't say the thing I accused you of saying - but you heavily implied it by speaking to me, someone who wants to be mad at you
In response to a popular comic that's been floating around.
Headcanons are not activism. Ships are not activism. Fandom engagement at large is not activism. Punching down on someone for relating to a character in their own way, especially by claiming the way they are relating to the character is inherently not progressive, is reductive and damaging. Believing those who disagree with you are bigots and what they bring to the conversation is wrong or irrelevant is reductive and damaging. Telling any group that their headcanons 'overpower' fandom and are 'an epidemic' is reductive and damaging.
You are ostensibly telling someone they're playing with their dolls wrong. We are well past the age to be fighting over who gets the swings at the playground or whether you should go through the monkey bars forwards or backwards. Turning exceedingly minor fandom disagreements into a moral crusade, using the opportunity to feed into existing discourse about vulnerable groups, and refusing to listen to the voices of the group you are harming by mislabeling them all under a pejorative reactionary term to de-legitimize them makes you a bad person. Be better.
peace and love on planet earth or whatever
I can tell my evil advisor has been feeling down lately so I've been pretending to take big sips from his cursed chalice and then roaming the palace grounds groaning and clutching my abdomen. Lowkey I know it's deceptive but I can tell it's really cheering him up. I heard him evilly cackle for the first time in weeks. WIBTA if I keep doing this
the thing about ai witch hunt is that instead of spreading awareness about why and how ai can be harmful, people focus their energy on harassing other people instead. so instead of actually achieving something, fandom space and the internet as a whole just became twice as toxic because people have found a ✨noble way✨ to tell other people to off themselves and get praises for it. you’re not helping. you’re part of the problem
"Having an idea is like whistling a tune on the steps of Carnegie Hall. The hard part is getting the orchestra to play it inside." - Robert McKee
I'm reading the Undertale Kickstarter backer posts and I've discovered two things:
Toby Fox miscomposed his stretch goals. He kept having to scramble for new ones.
He really didn't ask for much money. (Eat God got more Kickstarter backing than Undertale, and it didn't have Homestuck name recognition helping it. Admittedly, there's 13 intervening years of inflation... still.)
To be fair, a lot of crowdfunded projects that went on to be massive cultural juggernauts brought in piss-all in their initial campaigns. Eat God also did bigger numbers on Kickstarter than Hollow Knight, but trying to judge their relative influence based on those figures would lead you to very peculiar conclusions!
I think this is my all-time favorite example of a discrepancy between a Kickstarter's earnings and the cultural impact of the game being funded:
The only difference between a chud religion and a woke religion is whether or not said religion has the weight of the government or other powerful institutions behind it. No matter how beautiful and egalitarian and morally aspirational the original texts of a religion are, there is absolutely nothing stopping institutional actors from twisting those words to defend the powerful and demonize the powerless. Bitches in the U.S. will be like "Buddhism is such a peaceful religion, you never hear about Buddhist extremists" yeah of course YOU haven't heard of Buddhist extremists you couldn't find Myanmar on a map if your life depended on ir
