scorpius didn’t move al’s arm away, instead just leaned into him naturally. he’d always been a cuddler and thank al just got that. ‘mhmm, of course you couldn’t. in bed? lazy arse. invite me next time?’ he grinned cheekily and winked at his mate jokingly.

   “I actually did send ya an owl but this explains why Snow came back empty handed.” He mentioned, “But I forgive you now that I know where you’ve been.” It was always easier to joke with Scorpius and his smiles just came naturally around him. “So fill me in on everything going on so we’re on the same page.”

         “A weird dream,” Lily nodded out of agreement. She was meeting all these people that had been gone in their time. The whole situation was complicated and Lily was certainly wasn’t someone who can handle things delicately. “I mean, I’m okay. I have you and James, so I don’t think anything is going to be that bad.”

  “Oh that’s right, Jamie’s here too.” He recalled what Scorpius had said earlier. He hadn’t ran into him quite yet but he was sure it was only a matter of time at this point. Albus smiled at his sister’s comment. He wished he had as much confidence in himself as she did in him at this point. Al couldn’t help but think he wasn’t the greatest older brother. “Well at least we’re here together then. Hopefully it’ll get resolved soon.”

“i’ve been wondering the exact same thing myself.”  hermione admitted, with a small nod. “there are time-travel rules. though generally they just state that you’re not to be seen by another version of myself. and i’m not alive in this time yet, so that’s impossible anyway.” she stated. “why ? got anyone you’re thinking of talking to ?”

   The girl standing in front of him seemed oddly familiar. Like he knew her and being in the past with everyone scattered there is a possibility that he did know her. Al ran his fingers through his hair, thinking how he needed a haircut but then he shook his head. “Probably trying to avoid.” He confessed, “I mean meeting my parents would be pretty cool in one way but I also don’t want to give them both heart attacks. You know about time traveling?”

“There should be rules.” That had been Lucy’s nonstop thought ever since this whole debacle happened  — it was messing with her nerves, but she knew that it would be tolerable if there were at least some sort of regulations, an iota of proof that this was under reasonable control. But alas… for now, she just sighed and looked at her cousin. “But how do you even make them for something like this? It’s probably not in the Ministry Disasters 101 handbook… Or maybe it will be, after this.”

   Albus recognized that voice anywhere. He knew it was his cousin once he realized that someone had heard him. He wasn’t sure how this was all being regulated but it all seemed out of control to him. Albus sighed and shrugged when she asked him the rhetorical question. “It may be but who knows. What if they obliviate us all before we get sent back?” He questioned, thinking back to what the man had said earlier.

alice knew that if she ran into anyone from the future she would find out her fate, but the witch felt like she knew it, either death or something horrid like that. she wasn’t taken from a safe situation like most people and she knew she wouldn’t make it out of their herself. “sorry, where are my manners. i’m alice longbottom, who are you?” she asked albus.

   There was a pause as if he was trying to figure out if he’s heard of her before but nothing came up, “Longbottom? I have a friend who’s a Longbottom.” He of course didn’t know who she was. Her last name just sounded familiar to him. Albus extended his hand to her, “Albus Severus Potter but Al is just fine. Not a fan of my mouth full of a name.” He confessed to her.

scorpius breathed in his friend and sighed deeply as he felt arms wrap around him too. ‘shit, it’s really you. it’s.. good to see you, al.’ he whispered as he pulled back and smiled, patting albus’ arms as he lowered his again. ‘just barely, mate. i’ve been bored out of my mind. pretty much just stared at the clouds and thought about how much i missed you. and you? where have you been, you knob?’

   Al kept an arm on Scorpius’ shoulder to let him know that he wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. He nodded. “In the flesh, I couldn’t let you have all the fun y’know.” He teased but he was partially glad to be here with his best friend. At least they weren’t alone and they had one another. That was how it usually was. “In bed of course. You know I’m always fashionably late.”

“if you’re not looking to wake up never having been born, you keep it to yourself.” there were a few chairs outside of the hog’s head that aberforth had put out as the days started to get nicer. he’d come out to see if the kid had wanted anything to drink, only to find him talking to… himself? “never know what you’ll change. then again, i’m sure the ministry will obliviate all of you before you go back.”

   Suddenly a very dark thought cross Albus’ mind. If he hadn’t been born, would things really be horrible? He pushed that thought to the back of his mind. Some days were a struggle not to let them win but he was getting better. His siblings needed him despite how much he thought otherwise. Al blinked, “I don’t think that’d be such a bad idea if they did. After all, they say ignorance is bliss but what if we disappear the same way we came here?” He wasn’t sure why he was asking the man before him. Maybe he was just looking for some way to get answers.

         Once she was off the ladder, she didn’t give her brother much of a choice before she wrapped her arms around his neck in a tight hug. She didn’t care if he liked it or not. “Well, it’s less cruddy right now,” she told him. “Are you doing okay,” she asked as she took a step back.

   Al wasn’t used to hugs but he didn’t mind them from his sister. He wrapped an arm around her frame and gave her a gentle squeeze. Once she stepped away, Albus nodded. “Yeah. It was all overwhelming at first and even now.. everything seems like some sort of weird dream still but yes. Are you?”

“i don’t really know, i’ve never really looked into the rules of time traveling since i’ve never had the urge to do it.” which was partially true, when she found out about james and lily’s death along with marlene’s she thought many times about going back and stopping it. “i would probably not tell someone that they die or something, could be a lot for any one person to handle.”

   Al tried to not let her see how she had got him off guard. He cleared his throat, making a mental note not to talk to himself out loud anymore. What she was saying made sense but Albus didn’t really know of anyone who he could tell that too other than his namesakes and possibly if he were to run into his uncle Fred. Not that he’d tell them that. He wasn’t even sure if he’d want to meet either Albus or Severus. “You’re right. I’m sorry.. who are you?” It wasn’t a rude question, more like one of curiosity.

scorpius would know that voice anywhere. hell, he’d been dreaming of it for the days he’d already been here. he’d been searching too, trying to be casual about feeling like half a person without his best friend. his legs moved so fast, his arms coming around the brunette to hug him so tightly. ‘oh fuck, i’ve missed you. fuck, al! i thought you’d be stuck in our time and i’d be here and i’m just… fuck, you’re here. i’m never letting go of you. did you know i had to spend time with james because i missed you that much? jamie’s fine, but he’s no alby. don’t tell him i said that! and lily was ready to sacrifice me to a virgin or something and i just really fucking missed you, albus potter.’ scorpius spoke too fast, his words slurring with sobs as he hugged albus for far too long and with no indication of moving back.

To say that Albus was not expecting that would be an understatement. He almost got knocked over from his best friend’s embrace but he managed to catch himself. He knew it was Scorpius instantly. The two just knew each other like the back of their hands. It had always been that way. He didn’t hesitate to wrap his arms around the other in return. He let out a laugh when he said he had been spending time with his older brother. “You’ve been quite occupied then, huh?” He ran his hand up and down Scorpius’ back in a soothing matter. “I’m here. It’s okay, I got you.” He reminded him.

Are there even rules?” Albus questioned out loud, mostly to himself but he wasn’t aware that there was someone paying attention and listening to him. He jumped slightly at the sound of another voice but tried not to make it evident that he did.

         When the ladder steadied, Lily let out the breath that she had been holding. One slip before anyone could have gotten to her, it would have been disastrous. “Thank you so much—” She started to say when she looked down to see who was her savior. Then, she grinned widely. “Al!” She knew that she was too loud for the library but she didn’t care. Her older brother was here and she had been so worried when she hadn’t found until now. She quickly climbed down the ladder to him, “Merlin’s beard, I’ve missed you!”

    He was relieved to see a familiar face. This was all bizarre and he wasn’t going to lie. He was a little afraid but he felt better seeing her. His famous lazy half smile appeared on his lips as he took a step back to give her space to climb down the ladder. “I’m not sure if I should say that I’m happy to see you because honestly, I wish you weren’t stuck in the same cruddy situation.”

Albus hates his name but he’d never say that out loud. He knows his parents meant well with it but it bears such a heavy burden. He doesn’t care to be called Albus but he doesn’t mind it. He just prefers Al. Al sounds plain and ordinary and much more fitting. Albus isn’t anything extraordinary. He’s smart yes but not academically. He feels like he’s always struggled with learning because he hates learning when he’s forced to do it which has given his professors headaches over the years. He shares the same love for muggle culture as his grandfather, Arthur and is quite knowledgeable in it as well. He loves comic books the most. Out of the Potter kids, he’s always been the one to try to keep a low profile even with his parents. Growing up, he didn’t want to be the brother who took too much attention from both his siblings and for that many people consider him to be low maintenance but most of the time he just doesn’t have the energy to fight for someone’s attention. He prefers it like that anyways. He’s never been one to favor the spot light that his last name brings him nor his first and middle. He feels like he’s had this mold made for him and it makes him feel trapped some days.  A little guarded and withdrawn, Albus just doesn’t trust anyone. He isn’t a jerk but he’s very suspicious of most people. He doesn’t open up very easily but once he does, he’s an open book. He can be sarcastic but he never means anything bad. He cares very deeply for those in his small circle and he isn’t afraid to go the distance for people even if the favor isn’t always returned.  He’s always had the dream to become a Healer and he had been working on that when one moment after heading to bed, he woke up back at Hogwarts in confusion. He doesn’t know what is happening but he doesn’t want to partake in any war but he will if his loved ones are in danger. Albus can become rather lethal if it means protecting someone he loves.

    Al stopped when the other walked up to him. He was still a little surprised and a bit in a daze from waking up to all this craziness. He couldn’t help but think this man sounded exactly like his older brother. That was something he would always say to his mother after he had done something he wasn’t supposed to. He shook his head and put his hands up, “Honestly.. I don’t even know who you are, mate. I’m trying to figure everything going on myself. One moment I was getting ready for bed and then the next thing I knew, I woke up in my dorm except everything was different.”

        The initial shock of it all had worn off and Lily found herself developing a new routine to fit in the new era that she now resided in. After her afternoon classes— she had come to the realization that most of the students in her year from this year were completely daft— and she made her way to the school library. She had gotten the list of titles that the library had on time spells and objects, and she began her hunt for them. She was perched high on one of ladders as she looked between the shelves only to have the book she wanted to be on the complete other side. She leaned back and reached as far as she could before she felt the ladder lean with her. Her stomach dropped and she held her breath as she was balancing on the ladder as if it were stilts. “Shit,” she whispered, “…. help?”

    Al had been wandering the halls of the school for what felt like ages in attempts to figure out exactly what was going on but he just didn’t believe the answers he was getting. Time travel? That was something that he had only read in his muggle books before because as far as he knew all the time travelers were destroyed... right? He decided to go to the library and see if there was anything he could find there, he noticed a girl on a ladder and it looked like she was about to fall. He put his hand up on the ladder before she did and looked up to see it was his younger sister. “..Lily?”
