Friendly reminder that even though Yuuri will wax poetic about how beautiful Wolfram is, Yuuri is also very clear in stating that there is absolutely nothing feminine about Wolfram’s face/general appearance at all.
I’m looking at you, fanfic writers ;p
Yuuram and its haters
Okay, so this time I’m going to address a few of the comments detractors of yuuram mention. I’ve been contacted by quite a few fans saying that they hear people mentioning these things in forums… honestly I don’t know what forums they’re talking about, but keep this link at hand if you ever need it.
For starters, I think that in order to criticize something you must at least have read everything so that you have a full picture. Also, I will only talk about the novel canon here. (The anime as you know let Yuuri open to pretty much every character. The manga is a little different at the end but we definitely have a confession from Yuuri in chapter 108). But let’s move on to the novels.
Things that detractors of yuuram point out: 1) Age: No one is Yuuri’s age in Kyou Kara Maou. The mazoku are vastly older, Greta is way younger, Flynn is way older, the prostitutes in Svelera are several years younger. Murata, despite his physical age, has 4000 years of memories (making him the oldest character). If we’re going to use ‘age’ to prevent shipping Yuuri with someone, then the options are: 1. Nicola, mother of a baby, married to Hube. 2. Saralegui, the guy who kept trying to kill him and tortured him for days in the tunnel. 3. “The girlfriend” who the author already said won’t ever appear again. Other than that, if we’re going to use age as the argument against Yuuri dating someone, there is no one left. Now if we take into consideration what the character himself says, Yuuri, then we know HE considers Wolfram his equal. He mentions Wolf’s ‘real age’ now and then (like when he’s trying to not fantasize sexually about him), but he never compares that ‘real age’ to experience with Wolf . Physically and mentally from Yuuri’s and the author’s point of view, Wolfram is the only equal Yuuri has. In fact, Yuuri’s terrified of Wolfram growing up faster than him. (Seisakoku arc)
2) Wolfram waiting for Yuuri in bed to ask about sex in Novel 2: I heard the phrase “Wolfram forced himself onto Yuuri” to describe this scene. And I’m thinking…. what? Please read novel 2, chapter 10 again. Wolfram is under the covers, Yuuri sees him, Wolfram half-rises from bed, puts his hand on his own hip. After Yuuri says “what sort of settlement do you wish…” (which really sounds like ‘what do you like in bed?’), Wolfram’s face lights up. He approaches the end of the bed swaying his hips because he’s sitting on the bed, and pulls down on Yuuri’s arm…. HIS ARM, to ask him if he has reached a decision! Yuuri, afraid of losing his virginity right there, runs for the bathroom instead. Saying he needs a shower first (he never said no), and ‘you don’t wanna do it with a sweaty guy’ (he never said no).
So… How is this forcing yourself onto someone? Wolfram pulled Yuuri’s arm to bring him closer. He didn’t crawl on top of him. He didn’t reach for his crotch. AND he only grabbed Yuuri’s arm in excitement(Yuuri’s words excited him) when Yuuri’s answer was vague enough that it sounded like he was into it, too. (Analysis of that scene here)
In Answer my Maruma Question (in marumarumaruma, or fanbook 3), the author actually references this scene in the manga to reply as to what will happen after Yuuri and Wolf get married.
Furthermore, in Novel 4, when Wolfram DOES sleep strapped himself on top of Yuuri for 3 months, Yuuri never once locks his door! In that scene he’s not even worried about Wolfram on top of him. He’s worried about “what Gunter will think”. Perhaps Yuuri is not super hating this?
3) Yuuri doesn’t really think of himself as Wolf’s fiance: Well, this is a very anime-canon argument. If we’re talking about the anime, I’ll say yeah. But in the novels? He was going to introduce Wolf as his fiance to Sara in novel 9, when Wolfram stopped him. He calls Wolfram, Greta’s dad. In novel 15, chapter 5, he straight out asks Wolfram if he wants a divorce. Not breaking up with him, not ending the engagement, all words that have beautiful terms in Japanese that can and should have been used in case of engagement. Perhaps the detractors are right with this one: Yuuri doesn’t really think of himself as Wolf’s fiance, but as Wolf’s spouse. (by novel 15 at least) But ok, times that Yuuri has called Wolfram his fiance, which I can recall at the top of my head are in Crossheart, and “Love Letter” the latest doujinshi we have. Yuuri reminds Wolfram there that “they’re not married yet, but engaged” and Wolfram goes, ‘but this is from Greta’s point of view’. The funny thing is, that after that Yuuri writes down his own feelings in the cards. So I wonder if Wolfram really meant Greta, or Yuuri. The fiance/spouse feelings are abundant in the novels especially after Seisakoku. In Novel 17, Yuuri even uses the WORDS “my most important one”, which are very special in this novel. (again I need a post for this phrase)
Okay, and I think I’m done with the main points people have against yuuram. Please write an ask if you’ve ever heard something else. I’m pretty sure I can find novel canon to counter anti-yuuram statements.
What information is there about Wolfram's childhood or his life aside... well, Yuuri...? THANKS!

Uses charcoal for sketches, high quality bearbee poop painting from Doubos for more important pieces. He’s the author’s favorite character.
Childhood
As told by Conrad, Wolfram wouldn’t let anyone but Conrad touch him as a child. Wolf’s father didn’t want to see him when he was born (reason unknown); but later seems to have become a good dad, trying to go against Cherie when she gave toddler Wolf a sword (which he eventually used to destroy the teddy bear he couldn’t sleep without) and telling his son stories, like the one about the Mateki (demon flute). When remembering his father’s stories, Wolfram sounded happy and excited, so he probably has good memories of him. Conrad said that Wolfram’s dad died (reason unknown) when Wolfram was very young. We can imagine he probably was dead by the time Wolf reached adulthood, at 16, when Wolf took his name. He looked ‘ten years old’ at the time of his Coming of Age Ceremony at age 16. His art style was more realistic as a child and he could draw really well. Cherie says when Wolfram was a child he started hating kittens because Gwendal spent all his time with them, and started liking rabbits instead.
Adulthood (before Yuuri)
He trained in the military. His starting age is unknown, but we know that by 62, he probably had an officer rank as he was in charge of logistical support during the last war. That means he first trained and graduated as a cadet, and then trained and graduated as an officer (probably around 20 years of training). He also once told Yuuri that he had been a part of ‘the world of adults’ for 40 years (at age 82), so the time fits. (This remark was rather surprising, as he didn’t seem to start counting at 16. ‘The world of adults’ is a term used in Japan to talk about adulthood and entering the workforce and having to deal with society as a grown up). Wolfram has also talked about his time in the military academy, saying that the cadets were left alone in mountains, and forced to find their own meals, in harsh weather conditions. Conrad also once told Yuuri that all soldiers know how to make delicious stew with whatever they can find. Having said that, Wolfram also realized in the Caloria arc that he had probably been privileged during his training (no further explanation as to how). Wolfram fought in the last war as well, and he even let some human who pissed himself live in Dormael. As for his love life, it’s unknown; but Cherie says that women never seemed to be attracted to him, because he doesn’t treat them in any special way. So she says that the lack of special treatment is why they’re not interested in him. (She later says that it’s probably not that but that he’s just spoiled).
Adulthood (after Yuuri)
Wolfram seemed to have had a more active role in Bielefeld in the years prior to Yuuri’s arrival. It’s also said that he was ‘studying’ to become head of the Bielefeld territory, a position his father had, and that his uncle had had until Wolfram was ready to take it. He also seemed to have abandoned such studies and moved permanently to Blood Pledge Castle, where he stays with Yuuri and Greta. When Yuuri is gone and Greta is in the castle (sometimes she’s abroad), we know he stays with her comforting and raising her. Greta goes to school in Shin Makoku, near the blood pledge castle. Her classmates don’t know she’s the princess. Wolfram is always involved in her schoolwork (whether from Shin Makoku or human territories).
Wolfram has been sleeping in Yuuri’s bed since the end of Novel 3. Greta is not allowed to sleep with them. Yuuri uses the phrase “Sleeping face of an angel, sleeping habits of a demon” to talk about him in bed. He’s a messy sleeper, and although we don’t know anything about Yuuri and Wolf bed habits per se, we know that Yuuri has woken up to Wolfram completely on top of him, legs and arms strapped around him and Yuuri’s concern was what Gunter would say. Yuuri has also said that his own pajamas, and the bedsheets are “a mess” in the morning. That Wolfram gets touchy. Yuuri also uses the phrase “ Wolfram, who hugs me every night” often. The word ‘hug’ has the double meaning of ‘making love’ in Japanese. (If you hear lyrics that say ”Hold me tight” in Japanese, it’s a way of slipping that double meaning in there. For the record, Japanese people are not the hugging type. They tend not to touch each other unless it’s in the privacy of their bedrooms.)
Rumors also say that Wolfram can hold his liquor, and although this hasn’t been confirmed, we know he drinks regularly before bed. He also has friends he goes out drinking with, and he seems to feel the effects in the morning.
In short, Wolfram’s current daily routine is waking up when Yuuri’s out for a run with Conrad, drinking tea. Watch Yuuri shower after training. Work with Yuuri at the office. Eat lunch with Yuuri; or Yuuri and Greta if she’s not in school. Go back to work with Yuuri until office hours are up. Bath with Yuuri, have dinner with Yuuri in their bedroom, and sleep together.
