“I, uh, no, but he also hasn’t exactly said he likes guys,” Alec replied. “Wow, I’m fucking heteronormative. I just, I feel like maybe if he liked me, he’d flirt with me. I don’t know.”

“If it means going full Frizzle and going into your bloodstream…” She whispered. In that moment, one that felt so, so right, Kendall closed the space between her and Alec. It was…not what she was expecting, kissing her best friend. She pulled away and tried to hide the expression on her face. “Uh, sorry.”

Alec blushed when Kendall kissed him. If he was being honest, if she didn’t close the space, he probably would’ve. “No, no, it’s okay. You don’t have to be sorry.”

Jordan laughed nervously. He still couldn’t believe that he was doing something like this. It felt weird, but at the same time, he was having fun. Jordan couldn’t remember the last time he had had innocent fun like this. He tried to take Alec’s advice and allow the music to guide him. When a pause in the song came, Jordan did a quick pirouette before falling into something that resembled the dance made famous by Weekend at Bernie’s.

Alec smiled when Jordan finally let himself dance. “Here, now you and I both know you got the moves, try the combination. I’ll do it with you.”

“Yeah.” Kendall exhaled. “It’s a mess, I think I just ruined my family.”

Alec put his hands out her shoulder. “Hey, hey, you did not just ruin your family Kendo. I promise. They’re family, they’re going to love you unconditionally.”

“So, uh, I found out I have a sister over the summer. Like a full-blown, same mom sister. And I told my family and yeah.”

Alec’s eyes widened. “Wait, what? Like a biological sister? Wait, what? Okay slow down.”

“Yeah, except Grumpy didn’t have an annoying friend of a friend who followed him around like a puppy and wouldn’t leave him alone.” He sighed, looking pointedly at the other boy. “I would say I don’t want you to explain that, but I have a feeling you’re going to, regardless.”

“Oh please, I don’t follow you around,” Alec replied. “And I’m not a puppy.”

Kari laughed. “That would be something.”

“It’s not my fault that your mother gave birth to triplets,” Alec said with a shrug.

Kendall’s smile fell away at his question. She took a moment to think, her eyes looking down at where their feet were under the covers. “I dunno. I don’t think I will. You’re my best friend, I would probably lose my shit and fall to pieces.” She looked up at Alec with a frown. “Nothing will happen to you. I won’t let it.”

Alec bit his lip. “I don’t know if you can promise that Kenny,” he replied, turning his head to look at her, their faces just mere centimeters apart.

“Strawberry bl- are you two really close friends or- Oh! Do you like him?”

Alec raised his eyes. “What? No. Jordan’s, he’s not, he’s not gay. It wouldn’t even matter if I liked him or not.”

“Still gay.” Kendall slipped her shoes off before climbing into the bed.  She curled up in the bed, her head resting on his shoulder. “Good, I like to be a mystery sometimes,” Ken grumbled half-assedly. 

Alec shrugged. “Okay, whatever, I mean I’m Bi, so not like it matters to me,” he replied. He looked up at the ceiling. “But I have to be serious though. If something were to happen to me, I need to trust you’ll be okay. You’ll be okay, right?”

“Well lemme get to know your sister and brother better and maybe you’ll just accidentally end up like the three stooges.”

“More like your whole being, you’re like one of the seven dwarfs from Snow White,” Alec replied. “Honestly it’s kind of a quick than a flaw though.”

“I’m sure you’ll get in,” Kari assured him. “I can’t believe it’s your final year, though.”

“Yeah, it’s really crazy,” Alec replied. “It feels like yesterday I was walking through the castle doors for the first time.”

“Curly?” Kari mused, as she and Alec walked to the dance floor. “Could be worse, I guess. What do you call my brother and sister?”

Alec shrugged at her question. “Don’t know, I’m not really close to them. I don’t have nicknames for them.”

“Jordan as in Jordan Knight?” Olivia frowned, trying to remember if she had even spoken to him before. “He’s the blonde guy, right?”

“Yeah,” Alec replied. “It’s kind of a strawberry blonde though, in some lights.” Alec thought about the boys hair, smiling a little.

“That’s gay.” Kendall said seriously. “Oh thank god. Fuck school, but also education or whatever. Most important meal of the day or whatever those grown people say.”

“How is it gay if I’m yeeting myself off the tower for you? More like it’s heterosexual as fuck,” he replied. He took her hand to pull her gently into the bed, next to him. He raised his eyebrows at her ramblings. “Sometimes I have no idea what you’re talking about, honestly. Right now is one of those times.”
