According to this article Unemployment is slowly progressing over time. Although all these nice things are being said that doesn’t automatically mean that you can get a job just by signing papers and applying. Even though most people have some sort of education, even a bachelor’s degree won’t get you a job easily. Yes there are many applications out there but you rarely get a call back from these places. Another thing is that unemployment has only gotten worse over the years. Although the numbers go up and down and slowly increase in all reality it’s not getting better. So in order to help the people who are unemployed President Obama has laid out a few proposals assisting those who are unemployed and who do not have benefits. There are statistics showing that the economy has improved a bit over the years, More often now than before, somewhere about four years ago, the unemployed have been findings jobs in less than six months. So yes the economy has been improving little by little but it’s not quick enough. More of the general popularity are starting to go back into school to get a higher education to compete with others and hopefully beat them in the run for a job. This just makes life for those younger than them a lot more harder due to the fact that a bachelor’s is now a minimum requirement, think about what our minimum requirement will be in about fifteen more years. Those who come from other countries also known as immigrants will have an even harder time getting a job because they will not have papers allowing them to attend school making it that much more difficult for them to raise their family and those children whom they are raising are the future leaders of our nation. I believe that the unemployment rate will continue to improve slowly to a certain point but then after a while crash again due to everyone not achieving the minimum requirement of education to compete for a job. Thus making it harder for people to even apply making many quit the labor force and maybe even flee the country.

The concept I chose for this particular skill was supply and demand. Before I read this article I wasn’t quite sure what supply and demand actually stood for or what was taking place, I had heard the word but I couldn’t really tell you exactly what it was or what was happening. Anyways supply and demand is when “someone” wants something making it a demand and then there is obviously the supply or product if you would. For example Let’s say you are in the mood for cookies so you go ahead and you ask your mother for cookies. She now has a demand for cookies, so she must now start to make the cookies making them the supply. But now lets for a moment say you have become addicted to the cookies and they’re sort of like a drug for you so you keep on asking for cookies over and over again.

The higher the demand is the higher the supply goes which pretty much means she has to make more and more cookies to fill up the demand. Another example would like when the Playstation 4 was being sold during Christmas, when it first came out it was far too expensive for people to buy and no one really cared about it because well they were too expensive anyways. Well when Christmas time was coming around the console was starting to get a bit older causing the price on a Playstation 4 to drop, plus it was Christmas time which means gifts for many, and people older consoles were starting to get outdated anyway. Obviously the demand for the playstation rose incredibly since it was Christmas time and more games were starting to come out along with add-ons which made people want the console. So since the demand for the Playstation 4 increased the supply must’ve increased along with it to fulfill people’s needs, it was also a way to make more money. So its easy, the more demand there is for a certain product or object the more that specific product needs to be made in order to complete everyones wishes to keep everyone happy.

The words “insufficient” and “demands” are key in order for this whole meme to make sense. What the meme is attempting to state is that there is a scarcity in the amount of curse words she is demanding. There is more of a demand for curse words than there are available to her. She is asking for more than available, so pretty much the women in this case is the “Demander” and the curse words are the “Resource” the “supply”. Scarcity is a lack of resources rather than a lack of riches, either because there is a lack of labor, land, etc… whatever the deal, there isn’t enough of it because of some constricting circumstances. Like in society, sometimes there is a higher demand of a certain product than there is available making it a problem because people always want something now, they want it as quick as possible and there isn’t always enough of that certain product for everyone, ever or maybe just at the moment. So that’s when other measures like trading and borrowing are put into place only to serve the needs of people to keep them happy.

This “meme” represents scarcity perfectly, it gives one, the so called “product” (which is the curse words) and the demand for the product (which is when the women indicates that there are insufficient curse words in a whole day for her to use.) Meaning that there is not enough of something making it scarce. In all the statement this meme is trying to present to the general public is extremely correct for the simple fact that it lets you know that there is an insufficient amount of a certain product. Which obviously and clearly hints that there is a high demand for it, in summary there is a higher demand than production of the item meaning there isn’t enough of it. But don’t get confused with the whole demand and production thing, it’s just part of the explaining process of scarcity.

Because of Social progress and a sustainable/ economic growth, GDP should not be used anymore to determine the success of countries. GDP is used to help measure the economic performances of countries but not to measure an individual’s well being. Michael Green presents something totally different from GDP, he presents The social Product index. This tool is used to measure a societies over-all well being. This takes a societies availability to water, food, education, health, and individual aspirations. These things are key to the way a countries well being truly is. But GDP is needed in order to use SPI correctly.

Circular Flow

The class of 2008 was pretty much screwed from the beginning they didn’t know it but the the year they graduated was just a sucky year for them. People are less likely to spend when a recession takes place because they are all trying to save just in case. Which causes for the demand for goods to go down which causes the making of goods to go down since there aren’t many consumers, this affects the labor market. When the demand for goods goes down the demand for workers go down as well. Also in order to compete for jobs, a lot people started getting their bachelors to win over the job which really effected that class and also classes to come, it is now a requirement to have a bachelors in order to at least try to compete for a job.

U-1: Alfred Cane is a 63 year old man who recently had to stop working landscape because it is too hard on his body now.

U-2: Bill Howard is a miner who works during the winter but stopped due to heavy snowing in the area.

U-3: Jose Martinez is a 45 year old man who was recently fired from his job because the school was closed down, he’s been out of work for almost 2 years now.

U-4: Tommy Jones is a 19 year old teenager who has been looking for a job since last year, he has not found one yet but is still on the search.

U-5: Joshua Kidsman is a 20 year old man who has been in search of a job to pay his rent but stopped because of the lack of work in the area.

U-6: John Goodman is a 39 year old male who has been working part time at Petsmart for the past 10 years now.

DRAFTBACK REFLECTION

I have always known that I am a bad writer. I don’t like writing at all because its not my strongest subject and after looking at my draftback a few times… wow. I AM A TERRIBLE WRITER! My style of writing is just to keep writing and not looking back. I write just to finish an assignment on time so that I can get credit for on time work. I notice I don’t like to go back and edit anything as soon as I’m done I don’t got back. Honestly, I need to started editing my writing so that it looks like a high school student wrote it. I should do this not only for my own reasons but so people don’t think that some little kid is writing.

DraftBack Reflection

While looking at my draftback paper i realized that i sort of rushed my paper and just went through with it. Once i put the period the sentence was going to stay the way it was. I should have gone back and found either better words or wording for some sentences. I could have also thought through my beginning sentence as well. I also could have taken time out of my day to revise it since he gave us more than one day. In all I did pretty well besides the revising and some of the word choice.

Keynes Vs. Hayek

Keynes is the idea that the government must control or steer the markets. For example as the circular flow slows down, the government must start spending. The belief is that people need to spend rather than save to keep the economy going. This was really big during World War II when the government was sending like crazy for the war and the economy boosted up! It’s meant to have a fast easy recovery. Now, the Hayek view is that the market should be free to the people. With the Hayek view you fear low interest rates because they believe that that’s what causes the bust. It has the idea that time and interest rates should have a relationship and that the flow only works one way. The government over emphasizes lowering tax and interest rates rather than pulling them back up as well because it is too difficult and people won’t allow it. To the Hayek view stability is what matters so they are willing to take their time for a slow recovery as long as it is stable, they believe that the Keynes method is unstable because of the unusually fast recovery.

Economics In The Wilderness

Earth Day is seen as a day once a year to pretty much congratulating earth for being itself. It’s a day to remind us all that we need to protect earth and the animals on it and what not. Earth day should really be a day in our life that reminds us that we ourselves are what needs to be protected and looked after. The earth itself has existed for billions and billions of years, it can take care of itself as it has its whole existence. Yes we should look at the animals and take note as too how they fight on a daily basis to survive and use it to our daily basis. Not by literally fighting to survive but to have that drive and motivation that makes thankful for another day to live and too make most out of what we can that day, since our tomorrow is not promised.

Raul Hector Castro had a ton of life changing moments, some far more effective than others. For example, when he was just a boy his father was a political refugee so they fled to the U.S. Surprisingly they were accepted with open arms and pretty much walked right through the border. If he wouldn’t have came to the U.S. he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to make something out of his life. When he was a teenager him and a group of friends walked out five miles because they heard of free hot dogs and hamburgers. Little did he know that the Governor of Arizona at the time was speaking there, ironically the Governor looked at the young group of friends and stated that one of them would be the Governor of Arizona someday, Raul wasn’t even aware of what a Governor was at the time! Talk about being at the right place at the right time! Another absurd and crazy thing was that when he was a window washer after he graduated high school, with no plans to attend college he was offered a scholarship to play quarterback for the university that is known today as Northern Arizona University. If he wouldn’t have played quarterback in high school or if NAU didn’t need a quarterback he wouldn’t have had that opportunity to attend college. I personally today do not believe that Raul Castro’s story would happen today because he was just too lucky. He was always in the right place at the right time. It is not that easy for an immigrant to migrate to the states today. Also getting a scholarship out of the blue like that is pretty much impossible due to all the scouting and what not. I’m not saying his life was easy because it was not but it was certainly lucky!

Stock Market

From the stock market game i learned quite a few things that I wasn’t aware of before. First the game obviously isn’t free, you start off with ten-thousand dollars and invest in stocks from companies that you believe will make you some money. First of all just because a brand has a big name like Nike doesn’t mean that it will make you insanely rich. Theres a possibility you will lose a lot of your money like Nike did for me! I blame myself for that though because I should’ve looked at the charts and the suggestions that were given. It gives you the analysis on each of the companies and it’s monthly progress, even yearly progress is shown! Another thing is that you do not only have to invest in specific companies, you are allowed to invest in general things, for example the meat industry is a very big one. Let’s say you don’t believe in a certain company but believe in the product they are selling, overall as a whole, then you are allowed to invest in that certain product! Now investing in the stock market in real life is pretty much the same except for the fact that you must use your own money. There is no one out there giving you money so that you can invest. If you plan to invest in the real world you sure better be doing a ton of research on what you plan on investing, another is you must know what you’re doing. You can’t just start chucking a ton of money on well known brands because that is not the way life works. Another thing is that if you start losing a bit of money do not pull out right away losing one percent, or even two percent of your money doesn’t really mean much because you never know when the stock market will sky rocket. Knowing when to pull out is an important factor as well because being too greedy can cost you a ton of money and so can over thinking something. One of the best strategies is to let it sit there for a minute and not stress over like things, the stock market literally goes up and down. It will never be stable, one minute it’ll go down by three percent and the next thing you know it’s up by five. The stock market is insanely crazy and it will make you go insane along with it, if you stare at it day round, you have to be smarter than the system by making sure to do your work before going out in the real world and trying all this there. There are tons of articles and websites out there that give you information on the stock market and what is best to invest on or what’s going to be the best to invest on in a several months because of an event or the change of weather and so on.
