CROWNLANDS/STORMLANDS TAX POLICY ANNOUNCEMENT: 

Alestor’s mission is to increase the population of the Stormlands, and production of food for the Crownlands. In order to help achieve both of those tasks with one stoke of his quill he has devised the following tax policy; 

Anyone who migrates to the Crownlands or Stormlands with the intention and physical ability to start, and work on an operating farm, as well as the knowledge to be able to grow wheat, hay, and barley as well as corn, and grain then the Crown will help them establish their lands, and in addition they will be allowed to work, live, and operate on their lands tax free for the first 3 years. All profit they make will be entirely theirs, they can use it to expand their home, their farm, or to purchase more equipment, or land. 

Queen Caerella wants to prove that she is a just queen, who wants her subjects to flourish. This policy will allow just that. Any man who can make something of himself to benefit his fellow citizens will be able to.

The Dragonpit

   Alestor Cletigar, Master of Coin is proud to announce the following development in regards to the beautifully restored Dragonpit, and the enhancement of King’s Landing. 

On the days where her graces beautiful, and magnificent dragon Silverwing is not resting beneath the floorboards, the upper levels and seating for 80,000 will be used to host marvelous dramatic productions put on by mummers, singers, and other entertainers. In addition, games of strength will be hosted, along with races. So that all men, and women may prove their worth to their fellow Westerosi. 

There will be fees to be allowed to use the Dragonpit for any productions, the fee is determined by the troupe or singers wealth, status, and how recognizable they are. Several performers may pool their wealth together and go on in acts, along with a fee to come and watch such shows. The price will be dependent upon the seating you choose. There will also be a fee to enter the races and games. This will be dependent upon the person’s own personal wealth. In order to partake in the race you will need your own horse. 

Anyone who is caught cheating in the games or the races, will see their horse forfeit and cede it to the Crown, they will face a fine for trying to cheat their fellow contestants. Merchants may set up stalls along the great stairwell into the Dragonpit, they will be charged a small tax for the royal land they are now being given. Upkeep of their stall falls to them. 

The winner of the race or games, depending on which is held that day shall be awarded 50 Gold Dragons.

   Now that everyone had returned to their homes from Dorne, Alestor set about his work with much more fervor. He had been looking over maps of both the Crownlands and the Stormlands, they each had their own unique strengths, and their own weaknesses. Strengths and weaknesses that Alestor believed complimented one another. The Crownlands was one large port, gold and fine goods passed hands every few minutes. It however, was not incredibly fertile, the Rosby and Stokeworth lands did what they could but they could never feed a whole kingdom. The Stormlands has forests, and fields, but no major ports, and a tiny population compared to the Crownlands. Bringing the two kingdoms together solved their problems. 

If they could begin to bring Crowlanders into the Stormlands, and give them the resources needed to establish farms, while it would take time, it would mean they would take strains off of other areas. Alestor also wanted to begin looking into establishing a major port in the Stormlands, while their coast line was hazardous there had to be at least one spot that they could use to their advantage. If he had to Alestor was willing to finance the expenditures with resources from his house, at least to help the beginning of these projects. 

He had drawn everything up, and was now heading into the Queen’s solar, smile on his face. “Your grace, I’ve had theoretical breakthroughs in my work. I think I am working towards a solution to help increase resource development. I have a few other ideas not written down that I thought best to share with you first.”

   Alestor was in the yard, it was the early morning hours and he was training with the sword. Just like his mind, he never let his body rest. All they had been through how could one expect to ever take break? To rest? He had seen his wife and kids before he’d gone to the yard, and had been at training for over an hour now, sweat causing his hair to stick to his forehead, and covered his chest, the shirt he wore practically sticking to him. Finally stopping, he heard the foot steps approaching, and he gave a slight bow of his head before he smiled at his friend. 

“Deimos, are you here for council business? Or...” Eyeing an extra sparring sword that was laying there. “Here to get thrown into the dirt?”

   Alestor was a fighter, skilled in combat, but he was also incredibly detail oriented. It was a trait he had inherited from his father. He installed in Alestor his frugal nature, a lord who spends all his gold is a lord with no gold Bartimos had taught him. It was a lesson he took quite seriously, and it was what he applied to his role as Master of Coin for Cae. Since King’s Landing had been rebuilt, and the bringing of the Stormlands into her direct domain their coffers were up. Things looked more hopeful, of course that did not mean things were at were they once were, and that would take far more work. Smiling as he walked into his working breakfast with his queen, 

“Your Grace, I have good news. I can finally report that with life coming back to King’s Landing, we’re bringing in a small profit, nothing like we used to have, but, at this point all progress is good progress. I recommend we begin to economically develop the Stormlands, there is real potential there I believe.”

   Alestor was enjoying the ball as much as he allowed himself to enjoy anything. This ball was work, working on connections with other kingdoms, working on ensuring that peace would prevail. Working on bettering the Crownlands. Though Dorne was slightly more hostile to the Targaryen Queen he served, than he would have liked, he still powered through his work. However, now he was attending to something far more personal, his family, namely his sister. Smiling as he approached her, he raised both of his arms. 

“Briseis, are you enjoying yourself?” Alestor was always on the lookout for his youngest sister, knowing she could find herself into mischief or what was considered something unladylike if left unattended. “Finding Dorne any more interesting than Claw Isle? Personally I think it’s too hot but I’ll survive.”

   Alestor was at a table with fruits, grapes and plums and peaches. He personally thought such fruits were items that were.....wasted expenses. Any financially intelligent lord would cut costs by cutting them out of their diet. Vegetables were much safer bets than fruits. When he felt a lord appear next to him, Alestor raised an eyebrow, 

“So have you ever actually eaten all the fruits on this table? I think I’ve had grapes before, though mainly as a liquid. If you have which would you recommend? And if you haven’t....well would you want to try them with me?”

   Alestor smiled when he saw a lady of House Manderly, a good number of ships traveling to and from White Harbor often stopped at Claw Isle. Either to pick up more supplies, to restock, or just to rest. Approaching her, he gave a friendly nod of his head. 

“Lady Manderly, I hope your father is doing well, and your brothers. Send them all my well wishes.” He drank, “And I hope you have been well of course too. How do you find Dorne? I imagine it must be a good deal different than the North. Have you ever been this far from home before?”

   Alestor was sipping on his drink, wine mixed with water, even though this was a ball he had no plans on getting intoxicated. Though when he saw a woman from across the room, he nearly choked on the drink. He hadn’t thought he would be seeing her again, the last time they had met.....it was before he was wed and she had....done things with him for gold. He tried looking at his feet but he knew it was already too late and could sense that she was approaching, and once she was near and speaking he smiled. 

“I’m sorry, you are lady? I don’t believe we’ve met.” His grip around his glass was so tight his knuckles were as pale as his face. He prayed that she wouldn’t call him out for the things they had done together.

   Alestor was a family man, no one could deny that. Every member of his family was important to him, and after the brutal murder of his father, the concept of family only became more important to him. He smiled when he saw his good brother, Jaehaerys. Clasping him on the shoulder he gave it a friendly squeeze. 

“Jaehaerys, Dorne looks as though it is treating you well. How are you? Is there anything you need? I was just about to head over to the table where they were keeping all the food.” Admittedly Alestor was late between working on one last thing for an idea he had, and spending time with his kids, he unfortunately ran behind time he was supposed to be at this event.

   Alestor had slipped away from the ball, he wanted to see his children to bed. Tonight he was reading with them Wonders Made by Man. Each night he would read to his daughter about one of the wonders, and by the end after her excitement passed she would be asleep. Now that he was back at the ball, and he knew that his children were asleep in bed he could allow himself some enjoyment. Smiling he approached his sister, 

“Darla, how are you? How are you finding Dorne?” Personally Alestor found it hot, but he was always one to keep his own displeasures to himself, never wanting to burden others. “You look very nice sister, your dress is beautiful.”
