My Mental Health is Worth More
Yesterday I made the decision to quit my job. Well one of my jobs. I liked to say I have 2.5 jobs but now I have 1.5 jobs. I trimmed the fat and got rid of a burden that really effected my mental health and my overall well being. The thing is I liked my job, like the job its self wasn’t bad. It was all of the drama and BS that went with it. When I needed a day off I would get the day but also the next week because my manager had an attitude, everyone was in everyone's business and the gossip and cliques and just overall high school attitude was something that I just couldn’t handle anymore. I don’t want to work in a company that promotes that and allows that to be the main part of the work environment. Every day I had to go to work I would drag my feet, take my time, and then when I would get there I just hated it. I hated talking to people because it was mostly just gossiping. I hated the customers because they were extra rude. I hated the managers because they hardly ever helped me or trained me to a point where I was comfortable in my position. In the end I hated it so much I just had to walk away.Â
When I would come home I would be mad about the BS I had to deal with that day. I missed out on putting my kids to sleep. I missed cooking dinner and just overall playing with them or going on walks with them. I felt like I also missed a lot. This feeling weighed really heavy on me too. As a mom I felt guilty and regretful of missing out on moments that I wanted to be there for. I want to kiss my kids goodnight and I want to read them a bedtime story.Â
Now I have that time. And I have more passion for my other job and although I’m leaving one job I know I can take the skills that I have learned and apply them to not only the job I still have and to just my life in general. Like now I’m not going to be a bitch to people that work in customer service. :)
