Alex looked into his eyes and then looked down at his chest and pressed his hand against the scars. “I know.. But you’ve become such a better person since then, haven’t you?”

James wrapped his arm around Alex. “I’m sorry, I’m glad I was able to help though.” He muttered with a slight smile. “Fine, peacefully. Like before…” He cleared his throat. “Nevermind.”

Alex looked at James and raised an eyebrow as he looked at him. “Like before what? James you can tell me anything.”

"Did you sleep well?" James asked. For once he had a great and restful night. No nightmares, no dreams really. It reminded him of some of his deaths, in a good way. Just peaceful darkness that paused life for a time.

Alex smiled and nodded. “Yes.. I had a couple of nightmares about my dad and all, but I got through them because I just held onto my man even tighter.” He said as he looked at James. “How did you sleep?”

James’ eyes opened slowly. Squinting at the light, he waved his hand and the safety shutters went down. “Morning sleepy head.” he said, groggily, voice thick with sleep. The hand behind his head moved to brush some of Alex’s hair from his forehead.

Alex looked at James as the blinds were shut and smiled. He looked into the older demon’s eyes. “Morning.” He said in his sleepy voice as he rubbed James’ chest.

“Goodnight, my little devil. Sleep well.” He kissed the top of Alex’s head and put one hand behind his own head on the pillow, mind wandering and thinking of the future as he too slowly drifted into sleep.

Alex was quickly asleep and he snored lightly throughout the night. Before he knew it, the sun was shining in through the window of his room and he whined quietly. He curled up in James and hid his face so the sun wasn’t in it.

Kira was shocked when her friend shoved her out of his way. “I…. Alex! Alex” she hesitated before she went after him “what’s going on?”

Alex hissed as the girl followed him. “Kira, back the fuck off before you get hurt!”

James let out a giggle. “It’s my job, silly goose. And I happen to think it’s a lovely story.” He sighed contentedly. “I’m glad you’re happy, Alex.”

“I’m glad you make me happy, James..” He said as he closed his eyes and laid his sleepy head on James. He knew demon’s didn’t need sleep, but he had been crying so much that he was tireed.

“You mustn’t know a lot of demons.” James blushed a little but frowned at the mention of Jeremy. “This’ll be a story to tell. So your ex cheated on you with me so you cheated on him with me and then he cheated on you again so you ended up sleeping with me and that, kids, is how I boned your father.”

Alex smacked the older demon playfully and cuddled up into him. “I know the story is fucked up, but I am happy right now which is all I have wanted. You have always been protective over me and I really appreciate it.”

James kissed back just as softly. “What? Dating an idiot like me?”

[alex--peterson]

“You aren’t an idiot, James. You’re like the smartest and most handsome demon that I have ever met. I honestly thought I would be with Jeremy right now.”

[demonic-james]

“It’s a part of my charm. I’m 98% sugar and 2% Tabasco sauce.” He mused with a smirk.

Alex laughed as he looked at James and kissed his lips softly, “I never pictured myself in this situation..”

“It’s Russian. For Little Devil. I think it fits.” He said, looking down and kissing Alex’s nose.

Alex blushed softly and nodded, “I think it fits too.” He said as he kept looking into his eyes, even as his nose was kissed softly. “You’re just too sweet.”

James didn’t need to hear it back. He felt his partner loved him. He laid them back on the bed, keeping Alex tight in his arms. “Let’s get you some rest, my nebol’shoy d’yavol.”

Alex couldn’t help but giggle at what he was called and laid back with James, holding onto him tightly as his eyes moved up to James’

“I said I love you. Don’t you know you are loved? By me, by others… I love you.” James was always quick to say those three little words, but it was because he felt love so strongly for a demon, even by human standards he did. And when he says it, he means it. And to this younger demon he definitely meant it.

Not one word left Alex’s mouth. He loved James too, but he didn’t say anything. He just couldn’t say anything right now. He just continued to stay curled up in the older demon’s arms as he closed his eyes tightly.

“Alex?” James brought him into a hug, sensing not everything was alright in the young demon’s mind. “I love you, Alex.”

Alex could feel everything fishing around in his mind and now that he remembered his father was out of jail, all he could think about was his mother getting hurt. He knew his mother fucked him over, so why was he still caring about her? He didn’t know at all. He felt James pull him into a hug and he heard him speak, “W-What...?”

“I understand… more than you could possibly know, but it’s not worth it. She’s not worth it.” He said, sitting down next to him and putting a hand on his shoulder.

Alex tried his hardest to keep himself together. He was tired of being preceived as weak and didn’t want James to think he was. He just sighed and looked down at the ground, thinking about his mother and the things that she let him live through though she was safe from his father.
