The Loci of Control

The Prompt:

The world as we know it is ending. In spite of the best efforts of Rotumblrs best Heroes (and some Villains. And some in Between) the six legendary pokemon needed to exert full control over the world have fallen into the hands of small sect of the powerful and corrupt, known only as Gonbei-san. Those known to be part of the organization, Giovanni, Lusamine, Joseph Stone, and a whole host of others unknown now watch from above the chaos as the world is divided into pieces and thrown into darkness.

But a small window of time still remains. While small portions of the world still lay divided into the Loci of Control, it's influence has yet to spread to the rest of the world.

Can one last push of resistance topple the Loci and defeat Gonbei-san once and for all?

Hey everyone it's Pichu!! It's been a little bit since we've had a nice big Cataclysmic Event so I figured, Why not END THE WORLD!

Here's some Ground Rules for the event and how to participate!

Joining the Discord isn't necessary to participate in the event, but it can provide extra character beats, insight and extra context for the lead up to the event!

Anyone can join! You do not have to have been involved in the Gonbei-san plot up to this point in order to join in.

This is a HIGH STAKES event! Character death, harm, and violence may take place throughout this event. Please read the TW list for each section if you wish to participate!

Event scenes will take place in one of six "arenas". Each comes with its own rules, challenges, and a unique method by which the Locus is defeated. Your prompt is to write in detail your character's journey through the Locus, what trials they encounter, and how they come out the other side. Will they be Triumphant? Or will they surrender to the control of the Locus in which they're caught?

Please note: no Godmoding or assuming control of other characters will be permitted in this event! No one character can successfully topple an entire Locus. Doing so will be a team effort and will happen as the event progresses!

The event will conclude on August 30th, so be prepared for a wrap up by that date!

As a general note please ask if you want to take any big actions that involve other characters or could effect the scenario over all as a whole!

Pokédex entry: Mundaqua eat very little during this stage of life subsisting mostly on their abdominal yolk sack they are born with as their body prepares for evolution.Found only in clean fast running waters. Their presence is a sign of good ecological health. They are the current water starter for the Endless Mountain Region.

2)Cyrobranch

Pokédex entry: At this stage of evolution Cyrobranch with its newly developed limbs , begins to aggressively hunt Tympole and Corphish in clean, fast, running Rivers as it loses, its yolk, sac upon evolving. Cyrobranch will generally surprise attack its prey by dramatically cooling the temperature of the water around them sending them into shock.

Alright, in celebration for the great strides in recovery that the chimera Pokemon have made thanks to the baton pass method, I think it best we take a moment of remembrance and gratitude to the pokemon who drove me to learning the baton pass method in the first place. Sweetie the raticate. And though she may not look it, she actually managed to live for another 4 years after this intake photo was taken.

Sweetie was one of the earliest pokemon sent to the Min-Haven sanctuary after it was officially recognized as an official institution within the Johto/Kanto public pokemon network, and thus given public funding and connected to the back-end of the PC network involved in re-homing pokemon released by trainers or surrendered to shelters through pokemon canters. And with my having not set up the system correctly yet, I was occasionally being sent pokemon outside of my specialty or capacity to care for them. Sweetie being one of them. Sweetie came from the rather tragic situation, of having been a starter pokemon who managed to outlive their trainer after a lifetime spent together. And it's clear from her behavior, that Sweetie had been incredibly cherished throughout that time. It also quickly became clear, that despite blind and incredibly frail, Sweetie had a very strong will to keep on living and was gonna keep trying to make the most of things till the bitter end. Which mostly expressed itself as a massive case of FOMO (fear of missing out). She would demand to be in the middle of absolutely anything going at any given time, even if it were clearly incredibly difficult for her to do so. So as I was going down the list calling all the phone numbers in the directory looking for a better location to transfer her to, since I was both inexperienced, and i wasn't authorized to store and administer the more intense painkillers usually associated with extreme geriatric pokemon care, I was also asking for care advice for elderly pokemon to better look after her in the meantime. Eventually, I called up the monks running the pokemon hospice near Ecruteak, who quickly agreed to help. Sending over a weirdly zen trained eevee and clefairy who would perform healing moves and baton pass status increases on Sweetie twice a day. While the monks took two of the pokemon from the sanctuary, a girafarig named Fred-fred (who was surrendered after his young trainer moved away from jhoto with their family) and an unnamed sentret (who would later be adopted by a little girl from the local elementary school and be given the nickname SuperKiller) and trained them how to perform the baton pass method between them. Eventually the eevee and clefairy returned home, and Fred-fred and sentret (aka SuperKiller) took over helping out as Sweeties daily life support, while I just kinda gave up on finding a better place for Sweetie to live, and would just keep wheeling her around in her little wagon or carrying her around in her little basket wherever I went. She ended up becoming quite popular with a bunch of weird little kids, who would often get a kick out of her being basically the scariest thing they'd ever seen, and she loved every minute of basically any attention given to her, and so would before long win over others besides that after they find out she's not dangerous. So by the time she didn't wake up one morning, she'd gotten quite a few friends. She was buried next to her trainer Beverly near Olivine city. So everyone say thank you Sweetie. Your stubborn insistence on living life to the fullest to the bitter end may have just ensured some pokemon once thought to be trapped in lifelong pain by incredibly cruel circumstances, to now have a chance at a long and happy life. As for Fred-fred and Superkiller, they both got adopted out soon after Sweeties passing. Last I heard, Fred-fred was still living at a farm down the road where he helps with stuff like weeding crops. And SuperKiller and her trainer had managed to make it into the top 30 finalists of one of the big Kanto/Johto battle tournaments a few years ago, but I haven't exactly been paying attention to them, so don't know where they are now.

Also guess what? I went to tell the monks who first taught me the method that it turns out that baton pass is actually really good at helping pokemon recover from intense surgery, and you know what they fuckin told me? Apparently they already knew that. Really? And it never occurred to y'all to tell anyone who could get the word out?! I swear sometimes these guys are an insult to the Ho-oh they claim to worship. (-_-)

The way, the three Chimera Pokemon were bouncing off the walls I don’t know if I should think @min-haven-pokemon-sanctuary for their advice, or if I should strangle them for it. The status buffs we transferred onto them using baton pass, have them vibrant ,active and healthy, but my gods were we unprepared for the havoc they would wreak. Every few hours they caused an electrical issue with the building every two days there’s been a small fire. We came in yesterday to a flooded room, and today I got Stun Spored AGIAN…sigh… at least they’re having fun.

Is their recovery seeming to carry over day to day after the baton pass has worn off? I've only ever used the baton pass method as essentially hospice care on very elderly pokemon who would be back to being sickly and barely able to move by the next day, so I wouldn't know how well it works in other circumstances.

But if it's helped to speed up their total recovery across their wounds, and imply its maybe even helped connect their nerves and transfer of signals across their body, then you might have to get your science team together and assemble a new research document and proposal about the potential for implementing the method as a treatment for post surgery pokemon.

So few pokemon learn the baton pass move in general, and it has fallen further out of use after it was banned in most interregional competitive pokemon battling. So it's plausible that it's a potential medical breakthrough that's been missed.

And of course, whenever any weird thing that happens in regards to pokemon, there's always at least one scientist who desperately wants to be notified.

I don’t think that the buffs have persisted all these days but like you suggested, I do think that perhaps the initial boost may have jumpstarted some element of their metabolism. They’re eating more ,more active. They seem more coordinated in their movements. They even seem less confused. I’m not certain if it was the baton pass, or the specific buffs that were transferred or some combination of the two, but there’s definitely been a noticeable change in their overall health.

Well, special attack and defence stats are often better described as improved mental sharpness (and basically turning up the volume of the slight psychic-seeming abilities basically all pokemon have) and increasing the quantity of the flow of the pokemons energy that power their moves.

Maybe forcing their bodies into a more heightened state of energy transfer and production is flushing their systems of buildup and forcing the scar tissue along the seams to be pierced and reconnected specifically at the tiny points of motion of energy transfer that can't realistically be connected through surgery? So kinda like if you were to run water through a dirty rag held tightly around a hose, and gunk starts dislodging through the tiny gaps of the fabric.

In fact didn't you say one of the chimeras was deaf in one ear? Provided the deafness wasn't because the freak who assembled the chimeras simply forgot to input the actual internal mechanisms of the ear, maybe check if theres any improvement in hearing, as it might imply the pokemons mind having been able to identify and connect to the ears structures in its temporarily heightened state of consciousness, and then maintain greater communication with those structures afterwards.

Oh dang, that is really big news!

I guess with things going this well, it might be best to do a little ritual to thank the now passed stubborn old lady Sweetie for having forced me to comb through all the pokemon elder care options in Jhoto and end up learning the baton pass method from the monks, such that I could then think to suggest it to you, and then you could help the chimera Pokemon recover, and then potentially pass it to other pokemon researchers.

I'll leave her some flowers since she was buried here in Jhoto, and her grave isn't too far away from the sanctuary. So I could just have Pidgeot fly me over after business hours tomorrow.

But once I dig through the min-haven archives tho, I can put together a little memoriam so yall over on your end could thank Sweetie too for good luck and gratitude that things have worked out so well.

Because of my recent egg situation with my Dustox String Bean (see here) I’m make an info post about what to expected if your interested in one of the wurmple when they hatch. Just some General things anyone should know if they decide they want one.

“Apatura Iris Stellatarum” variant wurple are native to Galar , Kolas and much of the surrounding regions on the Great Peninsula. Generally shy in this part of their evolution .Their preferred diet is made of mostly bedstraw and Willow leaves, but will eat most hardy greens and standard herbivore bug pokemon mix sold at most pokemarts . Abug type like its standard counterpart this variant of Wurmple generally processes the ability “Compound Eye” or “Shield Dust”. Like most variants of wurmple can potentially evolve down two routs. The routs are colloquially called “purple emperor “ and the “hummingbird hawk”

The Cascoon of this line are of the cocoon-less variety and Prefer to spend this duration of this part of life hidden in brush ,fallen leaves or close to the ground partial burrowed in soil . During this time of their life they will generally only consume water , absorbed by the thin more absorbent lines on their chrysalis .When threatened can slowly shimmy itself to another location. A bug type like their standard counterpart this variety generally possesses the ability “sturdy“

The Dustox of the this variant are excellent flyers . Their wings move so fast they’re barely visible when in motion and they can move directionally 360° in flight .Able to make rapid turns and dynamic maneuvers without changing their acceleration. One of the fastest variants of Dustox They’re top speed cabs around 60 mph .The diets at this stage in the evolution consist mainly of nectar that they uses their straw like tongue to collect, but they will eat any easily available fruit material that has been softened enough with time. Apatura Iris Stellartarum-Dustox are a Poison / Flying type and generally possess the ability “Speed boost” or “poison touch”.

Purple Emperor route

Silcoon of the Apatura Iris Stellartarum variant like their cascoon counterpart are of the cocoon-less variety meaning their Chrysalis structure is exposed. They prefer to spend this part of their life camouflage on leafy trees (Willow trees generally) , they don’t generally eat during this portion of their life and will absorb moisture through The outer tissue of their pupa exposed through the gaps in their chrysalis. Like the standard counterpart they are a bug type and generally possess the ability “sturdy”.

The Beautifly of this variant are comparatively aggressive to their standard counterpart, actively territorial and omnivores. males and females of this variant will fight Each other to to maintain their Territories. Preferring a diet of tree sap, honeydew ,dung, urine and carrion, Apatura Iris Stellartarum beautifly can eat Standard omnivore bug type mix sold at most PokéMarts. possessing a comparatively longer abdomen compared to their standard counterpart it allows them to flex and enhance striking motion from their arms and feet. Apatura Iris Stellartarum Beautifly are a fighting /fairy type and generally possess either the ability “Reckless” or “Cute Charm”.
