there should be a special place in hell for those who renovate victorian houses to have modern interior like what the hell is wrong with you. i hope the ghosts kill you fr.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
“The opposite of every other book. Don’t try. Give up. Be wrong. Stop believing in yourself. Follow the pain. And oh yeah, kill yourself. Each point is profoundly true, useful, and more powerful than the usual positivity. Succinct but surprisingly deep, I read it in one night, and now need to read it again.” – Derek Sivers
i dont actually miss anyone from my past i just have a bad habit of creating some sort of idealized version of what i wanted them to be. these people arent real i made them up in my head
Call me pretentious but if my life isn’t filled with poetic moments, silk blouses and red lipstick then I don’t want it
i wish i was always as artistically inspired/motivated as when i’ve just watched dead poets society
okay but can you imagine being immortalised in literature as the ‘mysterious stranger’ who the main character is both awed and terrified by? i’d never recover.
don’t yell at me unless you’re trying to sell me leftover bread for an excellent price in a quaint European market at the end of a mild autumn day.
“don’t judge a book by it’s cover”, I say as I remain a slut for a book with a pretty cover.
Dark Academia in the Summer
it’s that horridly hot time of year again oh no
sitting at your desk in the early hours of the morning with the window open as you watch the sun rise over lilacs in full bloom
tying back loose hair with silky ribbons because it’s too hot to leave it down
cream short sleeve button ups tucked into dark trousers
eating figs and drinking red wine as you watch a storm come in
wandering around at night after the heat of the day has broken, lost in literature and languages
spending afternoons hiding under the shade of a tree, sprawled out on the cool grass quizzing your more-than-friend on obscure historical facts
humming Rêverie to yourself on public transit on your way into the city to go book shopping even though you have too many unread books already
learning forgotten dances from around the world, teaching your friends those same dances around a campfire
eating an apricot in your backyard and pretending you’re in Italy
gifting books to your siblings that you think they’ll like to help eat up the endless hours of summer
spend the next week discussing it with them over gin and tonic
falling in love with a new historical period and spending longer than is probably healthy lost in lives long since gone
wearing loose pants with linen blouses and silky tank tops trimmed in lace
or short sleeve button ups with mom jeans
maybe even wrap dresses that make you think of running away to the countryside
eating so many plums that they stain your mouth
forgoing most makeup but making sure that both your brows and lipstick are mpeccable
spending your summer learning and loving and entirely too hot but finding a quiet joy in quieter days
what is sleep to those whose contemplations whirl around a topsy-turvy train of thought that deemed itself restless until formulating enough articulate nothings to exhaust & expose the vacancies of their mind
— what do i put here ?
so we're telling ourselves this is the summer where we read a book a day, watch every movie ever created, learn a new language, how to play an instrument and finish the manuscript we always say we'll work on when is summer uh?
I LOVE WHEN I WRITE AN ESSAY AND I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT I'M SAYING!!! and the structure and flow doesn't seem right!!! BUT THEN SOMEHOW WHEN I FINISH, IT MAGICALLY BECOMES COHERENT!!!!!!!! oh the rare times when the gods of writing smile down on me and fix my mistakes
WHEN YOU THINK OF HOW INCREDIBLE YOU WILL BE SOMEDAY… ALSO THINK OF HOW FAR YOU’VE COME!! YOU CAN GET THERE!! BECAUSE YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED SO MUCH ALREADY!
“I think when you spend enough time when it’s quiet around you and you don’t open your mouth for three or four days, there’s parts of your brain that can kind of rest. I think when we’re out in the world and we have to talk to people, we edit ourselves. You know, we have to like, act a little bit. As honest as we may be as humans, when we’re out here, we’re all kind of wearing mirrors on our faces. You know, constantly reacting to how to react to the people around you. And I think when you’re alone for a long enough time, you can feel a lot more peace.”
— Justin Vernon
The gustling wind almost whistled. The grass is green, the weather's perfect, "I never told you but, I hate your massages." I smiled tracing your name with my finger on your gravestone.
