Caff Corporation (also known as Caff Records or simply Caff) was a small but influential British independent record label active between 1989 and 1992. It was founded and run by Bob Stanley, a member of the group Saint Etienne. The label originated as an extension of the music fanzine Caff, edited by Stanley and Pete Wiggs.
The label’s philosophy was to release only one single per artist, creating a very exclusive catalogue that is now highly sought after by collectors.
The single Pulp – *My Legendary Girlfriend* was the last release on the label and now commands high prices on the collectors’ vinyl market. Likewise, the Manic Street Preachers release had a pressing of only 500 copies, making it one of the rarest records in the catalogue.
One of the label’s most recognizable features was its duck logo, which appeared on many of its releases and became a symbol for fans of British indie music.
Although Caff Corporation was active for only three years, it is considered one of the most influential independent labels of the early 1990s British indie scene. After the label closed, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs continued releasing music through other labels such as Icerink Records, Royal Mint, and EMIdisc, maintaining their role in discovering and promoting new artists.
