I’m not feeling well, so here’s an older piece I did for my brother over Christmas. It’s India ink and watercolor.
This is a sketch I started at work for a student, I was demonstrating fur and spots. But, she was insistent that the drawing needed a face and legs, so we have this funny thing. I had fun finishing it.
Snails are kinda cute, in a tentacle-bearing kinda way.
I’m having a whale of a time!
I wanted to try gouache again after finding new examples here on Instagram. This is my newest orchid under a purple grow-light.
Chalk pastel makes the most lovely black, the dust sucks up light!
A little pastel bird, I’m looking forwards to spring already. #watercolor #pastel #sketch — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2DGwE1O
I drew what I saw as a little girl playing with my toys, before I ever saw a ballet! #illustrationoftheday #childrensbookillustration #traditionalartist #ballet #drawing — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2C0i84w
Sometimes I draw the children at work, this one is always so angry! He likes to draw dragons, sharks, and other things that eat people. #illustrationoftheday #illustrationartists #chalkpastel #traditionalartist — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2lt9hBk
Pastel on gouache, an experiment in texture. #art #illustration #dailydoodle — view on Instagram http://ift.tt/2DtQDAX
I’ve learned a lot this year, this is a drawing done from a student’s thumbnail. Its a very adult composition- children rarely cut off artwork.
A little girl playing ‘swan lake’ with her dolls, she’s never seen swan lake.
Pokemon drawn at work for a student- this drawing works best if the black is saved for last.
This drawing became of of the most popular practice illustrations for my students. The shapes are simple, but there are a few subtle perspective tricks that are easily borrowed and applied in their personal work.
