Max opened his mouth and then closed it again, and continued this motion for the next minute or so. He was like a fish. Speechless. What the bloody hell? Out of everyone, everyone he had to choose to date it had to be her? It was so news that Max despised Rose and he knew this new ‘relationship’ was going to bring trouble. They weren’t exactly a good match, well, that was Max’s opinion. “I thought she was with Malfoy?” He asked eventually, trying to keep the bitterness out of his voice but there was so much Max had to do. His brother wasn’t an idiot and she had been a minor reason they’d half fought, besides the Tournament. It was no news to his brother Max didn’t like her and Alex wasn’t an idiot and knew nothing had changed. “I’ll try be civil. Civil. That doesn’t mean nice. What did Sera say?”

Really, Alex? Really? He mentally began to beat himself up, while on the exterior he to nervously massaged the back of his neck. "They broke up quite a while ago." His voice came out hoarse, and the lanky blonde answered rather quickly, a sign that someone who knew him well might have see as an insecurity. "Erm, Sera doesn't know, actually. Not yet anyways." His brother would try to be civil, and that's really all Alex could ask of Max given how he had just sprung the new on him.

Max felt relief spread through his body as he heard the soothing answer. Of course Alex didn’t hate him. What a stupid question. And Max, never asked stupid questions. Ever. “Never. Of course I don’t.” Max responded immediately after the question. The one thing he would hate more than his siblings hating him was that they thought he hated them. Max was capable of a lot of things but hating his siblings was not one of them. Though he’d never admit it to anyone, Max had a soft spot for his brother and sister and would do nearly anything for them. “I just-before everything happened, we weren’t exactly on the best terms. And then we all nearly died, I believe or whatever happened and I thought that I would never ever see you or Sera again. And that….that killed me. I know I’ve never been the best or ideal big brother and I know I’m very difficult to deal with, as Sera loves to remind me and I’m not the best when it comes to affection or feelings.” He was clearly finding this very difficult but he gulped, finally looking at his brother in the face. “But you know that I’m always here for you. And if we had died or me or..you, I never ever wanted us to end on bad terms like that. Oh, Merlin Alex you do know what I’m trying to say to you, right? I’m drowning here.” He actually was-talking like this was physically making him sweat and flustered. I love you, Alex. "And you even think about telling Sera, I will kill you."

Alex had never really thought Max hated him, but nevertheless, it was a relief to hear the words come straight from his brother's mouth. "I was so worried about you when we were...in that place. I almost left, I wanted to find you, but it was too dangerous." It had almost killed him, how much he missed his sibling. On the inside, he was just as flustered as Max, they were both terrible when it came to feelings. Alex knew exactly what his brother was trying to say, but he didn't know how to respond to, well, feelings. So instead, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "I'm dating Rose."

Max could hardly believe it and in ways they were alike, Max and Alex had never been ones for affection so now they were right in front of each other and Max didn’t know if he should initiate for a hug or not. He didn’t exactly like hugs whatsoever so he didn’t want to, but it was Alex and his little brother and he did. "Are you alright?" His voice came out strange-hoarse and strangled, very un-Max. "I was looking for you and Sera and well, here you are." He said, gulping as he nervously ruffled his hair but then patted it because Max did not like messy hair, at all. It wasn’t attractive, it was unappealing. Shut up, Max. Stop distracting yourself. Then he said it-well, asked it before his brain could stop him from doing it. They had been rowing a lot and some things were said, and then they just didn’t see for each other for weeks-leaving it on very bad terms. "Do you hate me Alex?" Max had an expression that was so rare on his face-vulnerability.

"Yeah, I'm quite well actually...what about you? Alex shrugged, awkwardly sticking his hands in his pockets as he was unsure what to do. If it had been his sister standing in front of him he would have gone for a hug, but Alex knew his brother wasn't particularly fond of physical affection. His eyebrows shot into the air at his brothers question, and he found himself at a loss for words for an answer."What- I? Hate you? No, of course not." Alex certainly hadn't been a great brother recently, but he didn't think he had done anything to give Max the impression that he hated him. Max was his brother, and he could never hate his brother. After a pause, the next thing that came to his mind was blurted out. "Why...? Do you hate me?"

Max had never been one to handle dealing with his emotions and feelings very well. He preferred to ignore their existence and just keep them all bundled inside. Like a nest. That just kept building and building up but after everything that happened and it all being one big blur-he knew that he couldn’t just ignore everything he was feeling. He hadn’t seen Alex or Sera in weeks. Alex. They had argued and not been on speaking terms for weeks and although they were both stubborn, they would of probably made up by now if it wasn’t for Max being Max. He had underwent a few injuries that had to be bandaged up, his left hand being wrapped up and he had a few small cuts on his arms and legs that were covered by his robes but the ones on his face weren’t. The bruises stood out as well. Not that he cared. The minute he was let out he was desperately trying to find either one of them and he searched everywhere, absolutely everywhere and he came to a halt as he was now outside, walking around the grounds in desperation. And there he was. Alex. He looked the same. His stupid annoying little brother who Max knew he would do anything for. He may of not of always been the idea big brother and Alex was no star sibling either, but Max wouldn’t wish for any other brother in the world. His legs were moving and he wasn’t sure if it was on his account but Alex was still a good bit away. His voice was croaky and slightly muffled, but the one word was loud enough to be heard as he used everything to project his voice. “Alex.”

As Alex's boots beat again the stone floors of Hogwarts, his mind began to wander to the specific topic of his siblings. It had been weeks, weeks since Alex had seen Max or Sera. He wasn't worried about his sister, no, but if he remembered correctly, he had fought with his brother the last time they had interacted. Of course, the 6th year had no idea what the feud had been over, it seemed as if ever since Alex's name had come out of the Goblet of Fire, he and his brother could rarely have a conversation without getting into an argument. He ran a hand through his tangled hair before the smirk slid from his face, his head turning abruptly towards the unmistakable voice of his brother, cerulean eyes wide. "Think of the devil." Alex murmured to himself, frozen to the spot before hurried steps brought him to his older sibling. A grin tugged at the corner of his lips, his expression of surprise quickly melting into one of welcome. "Max. Hi."
