Lost and Found // Alexia & Dieter
"I think you’re mistaken. The case is far from closed. Were you a runaway? What did you do while you were gone? Why’d you show up? And why are you acting this way toward an officer of the law? I’m only doing my job, Alexia. Would you rather I discussed this matter with your mother? If I do recall, she did have some rather…charming things to say about me the first time." The whole time he spoke, the smirk never left his lips as he stared her down. By now, Dieter would have been backing down, never one to step on toes, especially not Alexia’s, unless he had a very good reason to do so.
But this was not Dieter and the dark entity inside of him could have cared less about pushing Alexia’s buttons or Dieter’s for that matter. Dieter had a life that he was wasting by being good and honorable, he was taking the safe, boring route and therefore didn’t deserve the chances he got, or so the demon thought. ”Of course it doesn’t have to be like that does it? There was a time you were fond of me once, wasn’t there? Wouldn’t you rather just get this sorted out here and now, you and me?”
Not giving her much time at all to so much as react to what he was saying, he took a step forward and extended his hand out to her. ”What do you say? Help me clear this all up and I’ll be out of your hair again before you know it.”
"You're the cop, you find out on your own. But I guess that's just like a Bentley cop, huh? Let the rest of the town give you clues so you can reach the end." Alexia didn't mind making a dig about their failed attempts to solve crimes. If the Craig incident was an indication of the Law Enforcement's ability to tie up a case, Bentley was the perfect place for criminals. These cops couldn't solve a crime if the answer striped naked and went skinny dipping right in front of them. But Dieter was so "proud" of his job. With a clenched jaw, the girl forced herself to shrug. "It's a free country; you can do what you want. I'm sure she'd love to help you."
A stream of expletives jumped around her mind and Alexia forced her face to remain calm. If he would be an asshole, she would too. If nothing effected him, nothing would effect her. But why wasn't any of this effecting him? Of course things were going a lot differently than Alexia had imagined. In her mind, this meeting would end with a hug and a lot of apologies on his part but they'd be on much better terms than... This. What was this? Was he really still going to act this way?
"There was a time when you were fond of me as well. We both know how feelings change, don't we?" What was this game they were playing? If he wanted her to move on, he should have let her go completely. Surely if he didn't care, some other cop would be at her doorstep. Ice blue eyes watched his hand. She never moved. "No. You can't come into my house without a search warrant, because we're not friends so I'm not inviting you in. So no. You can stay out here if you want, but you're not getting in her."
Though he moved closer, she would not budge. Frowning, Alexia lifted her eyes to his, trying to pry out an ulterior motive. "You didn't have to come here. Someone else could have. What are you playing at, Dieter? You said to leave you alone and I have. So leave me alone."
