have you been frustrated by the prevalence of low-effort poetry? i have. h
it's not fair, for sure. and mostly my checking is on vibes. but it really bugs me when i see a poem that uses the aesthetics and none of the interesting parts of poetry. they're trying to be another Rupi, in terms of fame. o
i think i bullied a guy off the internet. i am not a nice person, as you know. he self-posted in r/poetry, which is a no-no, and it used obvious AI imagery, and the poem was shitty and uninteresting despite being about an animal headed for slaughter. so i looked him up. he had no internet footprint except for his personal website which had that one poem and one "academic" paper, which he had posted literally all over the internet. he even made a podcast of reading it. the site had AI verbiage all over it. r
so i pointed out the image was AI, and asked if the poem was also AI. he offered to show me the PSD of him making the image, and i accepted. then he deleted the whole post. d
so i sent him a message asking if he was an AI poet. he asked why i was bullying him. i asked what about the previous two questions was bullying. he said that he didn't understand why people didn't like his poem, that he thought the worst he would hear was "you used too many commas, your enjambments are enough." o
i think that people know it's not actually all that cool to use AI to make art. that's why he wouldn't admit the image was AI, and avoided answering the question about whether the poem was AI. you know you're not making anything. the only people who won't care that you're being a promptlord are the same people who aren't really going to be all that interested in artistic expression to begin with. s
and why would you do this in the first place? don this aesthetic despite having nothing to say? to make money, right? i
so i said he should consider another way of making money. that there wasn't a lot of it in poetry, especially not for that quality of work. he deleted his whole reddit account. his site is still up, but i don't want to link it. i already touched the poop too much. l
my poetry is also very bad, for the record, but it comes from a personal place into which i have the only view. and i work hard to see it and get it out. at least i am willing to expose myself. and all of the words come from me. l
i'm trying to gas myself up to post some, because i'm 100% sure people will rag me for it. which i deserve! karma, baby. talking all that shit? time to eat. o
i don't remember you as being the kind of person to dump on instapoetry. i have some other friends who are poets who enjoy doing that, though. if you want to see what i've been talking about, you can gather all the misplaced letters at the end of the paragraphs, then add ".com".
