I’ve been thinking of the potential to give Het Huis Anubis a proper spinoff. Mostly because it’s gathered some new attention recently, mostly because of the studio 100 sing along, but also because of a recent interview with RTL Boulevard.
I know that Terugkeer van Sibuna already exists, where we checked into the character’s lives post-HHA, but I honestly didn’t like some of the choices it made. So in trying to come up with how a proper spinoff would look like and what it would entail, I’ve elected to ignore that film a bit. Let’s go.
How I imagine our fav housemates lives would turn out to be like:
Amber: though I don’t love Terugkeer van Sibuna, the one good thing it handled was Amber. In my version of the reboot, she’s definetly still be with Appie. They are couple goals. Their relationship is like it always was, full of jokes and humor, but with a bit more maturity and kissing! She’s also still besties with Nienke (more on that later) and good friends with Noa. Like in the film, she’s a model and really quite good in it.
Appie: is happier than he’s ever been now that Amber is his official girlfriend. They are living together in an apartment in a big Dutch or Belgian city and trying to spare up for a bigger home. They’ve also got an adorable white cat. Within said city, Appie works as a standup comedian. Her absolutely love entertaining people and being his usual chaotic self. He’s also as close with Jeroen as he ever was and the two of them meet up monthly in their favorite bar.
Jeroen: is still with Noa! (Her not being in Terugkeer van Sibuna is lowkey insane to me). They aren’t married, but they are together and have an adorable four year old son. He was a bit worried about becoming his father, so he’s trying very hard to avoid the mistakes his parents made. Noa and him both don’t really have a family, but all of the Anubis kids (even mick and Joyce) have basically adopted their son as part of their family. Furthermore, Jeroen is running his own antique shop (ethically this time, Noa helped him set it up) and is loving being his own boss.
Noa: she’s working as a teacher at her local high school, near where she and Jeroen live. She’s teaching history, with a speciality in Egyptian history. Its her way to cope with all the trauma being a descendant of Amneris brought her. She’s also quite good at not putting up wit any of the kid’s bullshit. When Jeroen is off with Appie, she and Amber meet up. They have girls night where they pick out outfits for each other and watch rom coms (as much as Noa loves watching horror films with Jeroen, a change of pace is nice as well). She and Jeroen also try to go to Appie’s performances as often as possible and are having the time of their lives watching him on stage.
Nienke: She married Fabian! At their wedding, all the Anubis kids were present and most of them cried. She’s also become a journalist. She loves writing about political and societal issues and discovering truths that were long kept under the radar. Fabian is an archeologist so they are more often away from the Netherlands than not. That said, she still calls with Amber daily and they video call weekly. The times where she’s visited the Netherlands, she’s caught up with everyone and become an aunt to Jeroen and Noa’s son. She and Fabian also have their own little baby girl, who’s only a few months old.
Fabian: is an archeologist, happily married to Nienke and a proud father of his little girl. He stills texts Mick often and when he and Nienke have visited the Netherlands, he’s made sure to see him each time. He’s also occasionally called with Patricia and he was the first person that she came out to as bisexual.
Patricia: still lives in America and is in a relationship with Joyce. While in America, she and Robbie kinda lost contact after a while and eventually broke up. She realized she was in love with Joyce at that time and after a terrifying near death experience with a mugger in New York, she finally told her. Luckily for her, Joyce felt the same way! She came out to almost all of the Anubis kids as bisexual and those who she didn’t came out to, found out via via. The times that she’s been back to the Netherlands, she’s mostly caught up with Amber and Noa, which meant that she was one of the first to meet Noa and Jeroen’s son.
Joyce: also still living in the US and is very in love with Patricia. During the first few years of living in America, she followed an arts study and is now earning money as a photographer! She’s also visited Mick when she was back on vacation in Belgium, feeling very bad for dating Patricia even though she never officially broke up with him. When she found out that Mick was with Sofie, she was mostly relieved and the two of them are back to being good friends now. They still tease and compete with each other.
Mick: he’s still close friends with Fabian and Joyce. He’s also romantically together with Sofie and working as an athlete. He’s helped raise money for organizations that do medical research, including research about blindness. He’s still close to his sister, who has met Sofia and absolutely loves her. He was the first person to meet Fabian and Nienke’s baby girl on their trip back home.
The plot of the spinoff would definetly center Noa and Jeroen’s son and some secret society being out to get the youngest descendant of Amneris. I’m bad at thinking up plot, but it would be a nice way to bring everyone together and give them all the same goal. Especially after Noa and Jeroen’s son got kidnapped. Joyce and Mick would finally become part of the club.
